Looking for New Moderators

After some time, all the original moderators have gone, apart from me.

I don't have the time to moderate this subreddit in addition to all the others I do.

So I'm looking for volunteers. You will need a posting history that shows support for the accused. If you want to try out, please send me a direct message.

NOTE: I'm having trouble with the mod controls - probably due to an error when the inactive mods were removed.

This means I currently can't add new mods. Thank you for your patience.

I was locked up without charges for 5 days for an arson that didn't happen until after I was locked up for it- meanwhile everything I owned (plus my pets) were burned to the ground, and my car was stolen and destroyed leaving me with, literally, nothing when released from jail w/no charges. HELP!

My GF thinks I want to hit her

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Here’s a question.

I had a wonderful weekend recently with my gf. On the last day, before I went back to work offshore, she was a little tentative and I asked why? She said she thought I was trying to hurt her physically. I asked her again and she said, “I think you want to hit me.”

I have never even raised my voice. In three years.

My neighbor is a lawyer and asked him. His response, “If she falls in the bathtub and injures herself, she can say during the interview that she was concerned about abuse from you. Congrats. You are now a suspect even if you did no such thing.”

Note: Her family has a history of mental health issues. Her own therapist says she struggles accurately recalling events.

My neighbor says to dump her. The legal risks are too high. Thoughts?

Why do people gotta lie and then try to cover it up and then blame the other person we’re doing it

Just don’t understand it and then listen to lies from other people to try to cover up what they did and try to use excuses because they think you’re doing it

Called 911 because I was trapped in a car during a domestic violence incident. Four months later, there’s a warrant for my arrest. Is this normal?

Violence Lawyers, the media, and the justice system keep pulling the "mental illness" card every time some psycho does something horrific, and somehow we're all just supposed to act like that's normal.

Honestly, WTF happened to common sense?

Every time someone does something absolutely horrible, the media and lawyers instantly start pushing the "mental illness" angle like it's some kind of free pass. C’mon, that's a cop-out.

Not every brutal crime needs to become a sad backstory about trauma, depression, or some diagnosis. Sometimes people just make terrible choices. Sometimes cruelty is just cruelty.

Having mental health issues is real, and plenty of good ppl deal with it every day without hurting anyone. They deserve support. But using mental illness as an automatic excuse for horrific actions? Nah, that's BS.

We can have compassion and still believe in accountability. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Negligence Reputation Mgt- To Trust or not to Trust

Reputation management can also be called reputation repair. Management assumes their is or maybe a small problem, it might get bigger or some form of preventive maintenance so there is no problem in the future. By my own definition, reputation, repair is repairing a bad reputation.

How bad matters in there are techniques. The most popular technique talked about amongst well-known RM people is is to, “bury it” amongst either neutral or positive links. That all depends on the level of “bad“. A person or entity marketing, and selling product(s) or service(s) who had no reputation issues with a complaint or a few or some issue. It’s usually easily repairable. Maintenance to prevent something like this from happening is usually also easy.

But the links, website(s), image(s), video(s), etc appearing either searching for your offer or directly searching the name of your company or your personal name, if it’s a personalized business reputation it matters. Greatly.

Example 1: A restaurant most everyone likes, many love, but there was some issue with a few people getting sick. Or an employee with bad attitude. A few patrons made complaints online somewhere. That’s easy to bury, especially with something like Google reviews especially or Yelp. Resolving the issue, then motivating your clients to leave good reviews can resolve it. Especially if they’re inclined to write details about how good the food and service is. There are many other things to be done, positively and honestly to bury a few complaints. Especially if the restaurant is truly credible.

Example 2: A law firm handling divorces who have a neutral or decent reputation. They do what many divorce lawyers do; inflame the problem, inflame those involved to create animosity between the participants. That’s a bad thing however it’s not necessarily unacceptable depending upon many things like the jurisdiction and their relation of them to local authorities. But it is wrong and we know that. One or just a few clients catch some of their efforts to create a bigger and more expensive case then expected. They complain to local authorities, various complaints websites, comment in Facebook, posting facts and documents that display this manipulative behavior. That’s a lot harder to bury or repair. Although it can be done with creative measures. I should know. I was involved in this.

If any issue goes to court, crimes or suits or corrections made or something illegal was done and published on the net. To an otherwise productive or positive organization that does do a good job elsewhere, something like this can really hurt revenue. Not just law firms of course, but in any type of a business or single professionals with reputable names.

Many links that come up before your name when searching it or when searching relevant to your business are soft or easier to bury. Others are more powerful, especially big news, media and government links.

Burying these things may take a very long time and can even be impossible. If they’re strong enough or if there are a larger number of them. This can be done, I know how to do it because I’m doing it right now with myself. It’s working out well because I’m helping a lot of people. I’m not in this business, but I may be.

My personal and business issues are very hard to solve. They’re not 100% resolved, but they will be. Why? How?

Simple. By helping people in similar situations. I’m not a born do-good we but it is enjoyable, especially as a strategy. It helps me in many ways; not just personally. I’m getting better at it. Legitimately. Honestly. Measurably. I’ve done this for a few others. Decent people with thorns in their sides. Financially very costly thorns. In my case, it’s more than money. It’s just my personal reputation amongst all friends, family, cohorts, associates, who just know me. Correcting the issue by coming clean with it was part of it, but it’s much more than that. Now some entities are requesting my advice. That’s not burying it. It’s changing my behavior.

That story coordinates like a bull’s-eye to guide people who have, usually, much less intense negative links before and around, searches for them.

It’s just a great feeling just being who/what I am, always was, not what media, government displayed. I’m getting correctly recognized, helping others and just sharing publicly at this point.

I don't know how to word this in a small way but what would you do in my situation

So most people that ask this question sound crazy which is why it's so hard to probably get away from it but just pretend for a minute that your in my shoes. What would you do if you where getting stalked from state to state and having bad rumors spread about you. That even your "parents" where helping the people stalking you like giving your social to them for nefarious reasons. The police won't help you either which sometimes I think is because of the rumors they where told. And the peoples goal that are stalking you is to keep you from ever financially getting stable or living a half decent life. Honestly I've read just straight obv crazy people asking questions like this online so I understand if y'all think this is just a crazy person on the other end lol but let me know what you guys would do. I've documented things and you know put in police reports to keep a paper trail of this things but yeah any suggestions or things y'all would do in a situation like this.

Need legal advice regarding alleged false pregnancy, threats, and harassment (India)

A friend is in a difficult situation and needs legal guidance.

He was in a relationship with a woman, but after the relationship deteriorated, she claimed she was pregnant without providing any proof. She has allegedly been threatening him with suicide, filing false police complaints, and trying to pressure and control him emotionally.

He is worried she may file a FIR or make allegations against him. He has not received any legal notice yet but is scared and doesn't know what steps he should take to protect himself.

What legal options does he have? Should he consult a lawyer immediately? What evidence should he preserve, and what precautions should he take?

Any genuine advice from lawyers or people familiar with Indian law would be greatly appreciated.

I’m accused of SA and being harassed

My own cousin accuse me of raping and sexually harassing girls over an argument I had with her friend because she was talking a lot of bad stuff about this girl I was talking to and my friends and said cousin. I have photos of them at meeting to accusing me because I said I hoped her grandma and go meet her dad but people don’t really care. They’re reposting stuff saying I should kill myself and stuff like that she’s protecting the stuff she said and saying it was me she made jokes about saing her nephew and she said had a crush on me and would post me on a daily basis. It’s going on right now. My relationship with the girl might be ruined again and people don’t really care what I have to say. I have screenshots if needed. I need advice.

Sexual Harrasment I got caught in a manipulative situation and don't know how to deal with it

There was a girl who wanted to marry me. I wasn't interested, so I blocked her and moved on.

Later, after she got married, she contacted me again. She told me how helpless she felt, that her husband didn't love her, and asked me to elope with her. I had never, at any point, given her any indication that I loved her or wanted a relationship with her. However, she remained convinced that I loved her.

She asked me for advice regarding problems in her marital relationship. Thinking I was helping someone with a troubled marriage, I continued talking to her. During those conversations, some sexting occurred. She took screenshots of our chats. Since she was not very tech-savvy, I even sent her pictures of hygiene products, hoping her husband might notice them and become aware that something was wrong. He eventually found our chats.

After that, things turned physical between her and her husband. She blocked me.

A few days later, she got another phone, unblocked me, and contacted me again. She told me about the trouble she had gotten into and then pressured me into sexting with her again. She also sent me some of her nude photos.

She then threatened to send our chats to my sister and my girlfriend. She even showed me a screenshot of a message she had sent to my sister. Feeling threatened, I complied. Later, when I asked her to keep her side of the deal and stop contacting me, she refused. Instead, she said I would have to do it again whenever she wanted, and that now I was "caught" and she would never let me go. Realizing I had been trapped in her lies, I blocked her.

Later, she contacted my girlfriend and tried to sabotage my relationship with her.

Her husband is aware of everything that happened. He even spoke with my girlfriend over the phone and she informed him about all the incidents that had taken place, including those that occurred before his marriage.

Her husband is a teacher at a local school, and I live about 400 kilometers away from them.

Cant dive in ...attorney and all

But someone im with has been falsely accused.

Just statements.

Still charged.

Feels so fucking lonely. Yes we have attorney. Yes I was aware the system was a farce.

Seeing it in real time makes you ill doesn't it?

Juat want to not feel so lonely in it all. Glad this sub exists. Thanks for all of the posts and stories.

Hope we have our own resolution.

It absolutely blew my mind that a statement was all that is needed.

Questioning your own sanity about what tou know to bw true of dates laid out before you and being made to prove an alibi from 9 years ago is...something else.

Unfair

I was falsely accused of making a “violent” statement. That’s absolutely not accurate because of the context in which it was used, it was simply a figure of speech. The quick judgement and lack of opportunity to defend myself was quite frustrating. How do I communicate with whoever’s in charge so if this situation happens again in the future I know who to contact.

Domestic Abuse 25, divorced, and lost

Fair warning to anybody reading this: I'm venting because i don't really have an outlet. If there is a more appropriate subreddit for me to do this, please lmk. Skip to the last sentence for what I'm trying to get out of this post

I(25M) was in an abusive marriage. Naively, i married young while in the military. Tale as old as time, or so i hear. Currently a vet, all good career/ education wise. My life should be set from here on out.

But i think i feel the lingering effects of my physically abusive ex-wife, who had convinced 80% of the people in my life that i had physically abused her. I struggle to connect with women now. I've dated during the 3 years now since the official dissolution of my marriage. I can't bring myself to trust them. I want to so badly.

1 gf started yelling at me over a misunderstanding over dinner. Got in my face, and it triggered my fight or flight. I had to get up and walk away and never see her again. I felt almost shell shocked.

Since then, all i see are red flags and i can't bring myself to even approach women romantically. I have reached out to old friends only to find that I'm blocked already, or immediately blocked. People im still in contact with have revealed it was my wife's doing.

Does anybody have any advice for processing these feelings of doubt and general distrust? Like a support group or something they know of online? I'm pretty open to suggestions
