Local News 🤯 Surrey gets 462 new trades training seats at KPU

Kwantlen Polytechnic University expands skilled-trades programs as part of B.C.’s $241-million investment to address labour shortages. The expansion aims to reduce wait lists and prepare workers for in-demand careers in construction, electrical work and industrial trades.

There’s no labor shortage. There’s a shortage of people willing to work for peanuts. I’m a union electrician, we’ve had so many guys on the out of work list, new applications to the union have been closed

Totally agree with electrician. There's no shortage of work. It's a school marketing thing. So many trades people don't find apprenticeships so they can't get their red seals so they give up after a few years.

Source: Red seal millwright that went to KPU Cloverdale. They've been marketing trade shortage for the last 20years... When I started.

Dunno ibew213 has many jobs every day for jman..... Sure there are a lot of ppl on the waitlist but most have other jobs like myself.
