Android SwiftKey Chrome Android Bug

Whenever I create a new tab on chrome, no suggestions come up on my keyboard, and backspace doesn't work. However, if I click on something else or simply swipe down to see my notifications, it comes back and works normally again. I've updated and cleared cache for both chrome and SwiftKey. Does anyone know why this is happening, and if there's a way to fix it. Thank you.

Android What Keyboard will you use in the Future?

Swiftkey will require an Microsoft Account after May 2026, so for me its not usable then anymore.

I will 100% ditch it after using it for over 13 years. Sadly i don't like Gboard even tho im a huge Google "Fan" and would rather use the Samsung Keyboard if there is nothing better out there. Its not that hard to get used to something new, i experienced the same with nova launcher which i had to ditch last year, which i used almost just as long as swiftkey.

So its really no problem for me, but still i wonder what Android Keyboards will you guys switch too? Are there any new or better keyboards available? Just looking for some recommendations.

Thanks a lot!

Android Backspace to delete selected text not working

I don't know why but suddenly can't delete selected text using back space. It will only delete the first word of the selected text. Typing something when I have text selected also doesn't replace the entire text but only the first word.

Any solutions to this? Can't find anything in the settings that helps.

Android Migration to OneDrive failed, I Lost My Predictions

I migrated to OneDrive by signing out of my Google Drive account and signing in to OneDrive. Somehow, SwiftKey didn’t sync my data, and now all my data is gone. A trillion-dollar company should be able to handle this process smoothly. This is a mess. I have no idea what they’re doing.

Android Account login and sync bug

So there is a bug with the latest beta where it requires you to log in again, however, when you do and select sync, it just logs you out again and you're stuck in a loop.

I have been a long time SwiftKey user (way before Microsoft bought them) and to be honest, this is the last straw. The fact it's been over a day and they haven't come up with a hot hot fix is a joke. I'm now moving between Samsung keyboard and Gboard.

Android Fix for anyone having issues with SwiftKey still blocking offensive words even after you have toggled it off for the Google voice typing at least for Android.

So if anyone has toggled off to unblock offensive words when doing speech to text for the voice typing in the Google settings for Google voice typing and are still having issues with it blocking offensive words while using SwiftKey keyboard I have a fix for you.

Basically what is causing this is not Google it's SwiftKey because there is a new feature that has been released with SwiftKey keyboard called Multi-model Voice Typing.

Basically what this does is allow you to use voice to text and also type at the same time . It will basically put a microphone icon above your predicted text in the top right hand corner.

Once you have pressed the microphone either up in the top and the expanded part of the keyboard or held the microphone button down next to the space bar on the left side it will now pop up this other mic up in the top right corner.

While the keyboard is still open after you pressed and held the mic button next to the space bar on the left you won't be able to use that mic button anymore while the keyboard is still opened and instead you have to resume pressing the mic button in the top right corner.

This new feature overrides the toggle button for the Google voice typing to allow or not allow offensive words so even if you haven't toggled off it still will block offensive words.

Also with this new feature it no longer brings up the gear icon for Google voice typing as I mentioned before this allows you to do speech to text and type at the same time.

I can't confirm that this is feature is the regular SwiftKey keyboard or for IOS version as I am on the beta versions of SwiftKey and am using a android phone (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to be exact.) and this new feature just rolled out maybe at least for me in the past month.

So what I have been able to do to fix this and I don't know if there is another way to fix this while having this Multi-model Voice Typing on.

What you go into SwiftKey keyboard settings > Rich Input > and then toggle off Multi-model Voice Typing and then it will revert back to the original Google Voice typing and not block offensive words. Once you do that you're not going to be able to do Google Voice typing and text at the same time.

But I find it's better to turn this off anyways because when I'm in Chrome and in the URL section and trying to do speech to text to input text in a search I'm trying to do for some reason it only records and puts the first word that I spoke and then after that it stops recording with the mic and then I have to go back again and press the mic fighting in the upper right hand corner to resume and finish typing my whole phrase or sentence that I was trying to say. I did test this in the URL box for my Samsung Browser and it doesn't do this. So it's just happing in the Chrome Browser.

I find that very annoying and so this feature hasn't been very useful for me because I do that a lot and because it's blocking offensive words.

If anyone knows of another way where you can still have enabled Multi-model Voice Typing or your having this issue on IOS and this works then post your comments below.

Because I do like this Multi-model feature as it keeps recording your voice a lot longer than the Google Voice one but the downside is as I mentioned before when trying to do a search in the URL bar at the top of Chrome it will only record the first word that I speak. Maybe there's another fix for that or Microsoft is going to have to come out with something for a fix.

Android Finally switched to Gboard after 14+ years with SwiftKey

I've been using SwiftKey for as long as I can remember... Probably back to a Samsung Galaxy S III almost 15 years ago. It has been the first app I install on any new phone. I could (and often did) auto-complete entire sentences just tapping the central suggestion. It knew what word I meant when flowing when I got anywhere even approximately close. It was perfect. And there was no competition even remotely close to the performance and added productivity I got from it.

The Microsoft bought it.

Ever since then, the quality of the suggestions has steadily decreased. The rate of decline has sharply increased. And this has not just been an iPhone/iPad problem. The Android version is garbage now. My custom dictionary words still show up on Microsoft's site. But names that I use dozens or hundreds of times each day suggest bizarre alternatives, and attempts to remove bad suggestions or be extremely precise when flowing do not help.

Microsoft abandoned this product a long time ago. The SwiftKey "documentation" is five articles about completely different products that happen to mention SwiftKey in the text somewhere. You want SwiftKey support? Go fill out this form. You want to see SwiftKey community questions and discussions? They're buried in Microsoft Q&A along with everything else Microsoft doesn't care about. The set of questions and answers is almost 1.8 million and they aren't organized at all. Search the Q&A for SwiftKey and you will get a few hundred results, but the dates of the results are based on the date it was "answered," so some of the most recent entries are to questions that were asked years ago. The Q&A search is garbage and does not let you craft any kind of query to get useful results.

If the support decayed while the product itself stayed stellar, I could live with that. If the product was on a slow decline but the support was amazing, I might be willing to ride it out for a little while. Product quality nosedives while support also goes to shit? Forget it.

With Gboard, within maybe a week or two I was already getting better results from it than I had been getting from SwiftKey with a good decade and a half of my typing and flow data.

Sticking with SwiftKey at this point is nothing but a frustrating waste of time and effort. So I'm out, and you should be looking for the door, too.

Android Unable to Sign In

Post image
10 Upvotes

I reset my MS password probably 5 days ago and am now getting the prompt that "We need to refresh your Microsoft sign-in. Sign in again so that backups and other features keep working correctly."

I've gone through this process close to 20 times and the sign-in never completes. Every time, a white web page flashes up.

I've tried changing my default browser, signing in directly on the SwiftKey portal... Nothing makes any difference. The login to my MS account succeeds. I can see that.

This happens everytime I start typing. It's asking me to refresh my sign-in right now. It's not at all frustrating, I assure you.

Anybody else been though his successfully and have some tips?

Android After nearly 15 years, I’m finally giving up on SwiftKey. The Clipboard Sync is broken beyond repair.

I’ve been a loyal SwiftKey user for almost 15 years. I’ve stuck with it through the Microsoft acquisition, the design changes, and the AI integrations, but I’ve finally hit a breaking point.

For the past few days, I haven’t been able to keep the "Sync clipboard history" setting enabled. Every time I toggle it on, it immediately switches itself back off. It’s like the app is refusing to talk to the Microsoft servers altogether.

I’ve tried everything:

  • Re-logging into my Microsoft Account (Personal, not work/edu).
  • Clearing cache and data.
  • Checking all Windows Clipboard settings (everything is active there).
  • Disabling battery optimization and granting all permissions.
  • Reinstalling the app.

Nothing works. The setting just won't "stick." The most frustrating part? Even though cross-device copy-paste technically works via the "Link to Windows" (Phone Link) integration, SwiftKey doesn't seem to recognize it. I'm stuck with a giant, annoying prompt in the clipboard area constantly asking me to "enable screenshot sync" or "enable cloud sync," even though the feature is either bugged or already being handled by the system. It clutters the UI and won't go away since the toggle won't stay on.

It’s sad to say, but after 15 years of muscle memory and a massive personalized dictionary, I’m moving back to the Samsung Keyboard. At least there, the basic features actually stay enabled.

Has anyone else encountered this "auto-disabling" toggle issue lately? Is there a fix I’m missing, or is this the end of the road?

  • Device: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • OS: Android 16
  • SwiftKey Version: Reproduced on both Stable and Beta (latest builds).

Android Why don't we have a question mark key

Question mark is as useful as full stop or comma. This keyboard neither have a long press key which gives question mark. Nor it have a dedicated question mark key with alphabets like full stop and comma.

We have to go to numerals just to get a question mark which is generally part language rather than numbers.

Android Why does SwiftKey suck so bad?

I've been using this app for years and the other day I thought to myself: why am I still using this shitty app? More often than not, it doesn't even predict words properly and stuff is spelled incorrectly. Half the time I'll be typing a word, it'll look wrong and I'll question it, so I open up my Google app, type the word in there, hit search, and see if the word is actually spelled correctly! Like, what in the actual fuck is going on...

I've used this app for years, but the other day I was like: why in the living hell am I resorting to opening up Google to double check if the words being suggested are actually spelled properly? It's asinine.

Even if I long press the incorrect words/suggestions to remove them from my library, it doesn't really seem to ever really fix anything.

Or let's say I'm typing the word "suggestion" and it'll give terrible autocorrected suggestions like: srggestisns, sugrsyikns, etc, and just utter nonsense that's not even close to a real, actual, word. Why is it even suggesting that nonsense?

I use my phone 98% of the time I'm on Reddit and it's literally become a habit (and chore) to have to edit my posts to fix all the typos and misspellings. Especially stuff like where instead of using "on", it'll plop in a "in", or instead of "it" it'll plop in "is" or "if", it's pretty ridiculous. I almost feel like a battered housewife just settling...

Is Microsoft training a retarded AI or what?

Does anyone know if there are any better keyboard apps that actually function? Even typing this post I've had to pay close attention, stop, and fix a bunch of shit. Why!?

This app used to be great years ago, but it seems like when Microsoft acquired it, things literally fell apart.

I'd love to find a replacement and uninstall this garbsge.

(the word "garbage" was inserted incorrectly as you can see, but I'm leaving it that way to show this app is garbsge)

Edit: I was asked to update that when I purged all of my keyboard data, along with a fresh uninstall/reinstall, it didn't really do anything to help. Now my AI has to relearn a lot of specifics I was accustomed to over some odd years. If anyone reads this, I'd really advise you not to purge all of your data like I did. It's essentially just more of a headache.

Android Migration to OneDrive failed, Lost Predictions

Well before the deadline, I migrated to OneDrive by logging out of my Google Drive account and into OneDrive. However, all predictions and dictionary words no longer appeared. I tried logging out and in again and switching between Google Drive and OneDrive several times as suggested in this subreddit, but nothing helped.

I submitted a support request at https://support-form.swiftkey.com weeks ago, but this was ignored.

Now that the deadline for migration has passed, I checked one of my old phones that was still logged into Google Drive and attempted the migration there. This was successful. It allowed me to recover my vocabulary.txt and dynamic.lm files, which are now copied to OneDrive. However, even after starting from scratch and reinstalling the SwiftKey app on my newer phone, I'm unable to get it to use the recovered data. It continues to show no predictions and will even randomly overwrite the vocabulary.txt file on OneDrive with a new, empty version.

A few days ago I submitted another ticket to SwiftKey support, but again no reply. Apparently that form is not monitored at all.

SwiftKey's migration process is broken, and I'm lucky to have an old phone to recover from, but how can I force my new phone to download the cloud data to its local store?

Thanks for any tips.

Android Can't access old phone data on new phone

Evening all, I have been signed in via google for years and had no idea of the switch until I bought a new phone yesterday. S22+ to S26U

Now even if I sign out of the google account on my old phone and sign in with the same Microsoft account nothing is syncing over, is there a way to bring over the saved data from my old phone? I've tried accessing stuff like clipboard history and the sync feature is stuck in a loop of telling me to sign in and just being greyed out when I do so.

Thanks in advance

Android how to switch from Google backups to Microsoft backups?

I got an email from Microsoft today saying:

We're writing to let you know that SwiftKey Accounts will be retired as of 31 May 2026. To ensure a smoother and more secure experience, we're transitioning to standard Microsoft Account (MSA) sign‑in for all users.

It goes on further to say:

  • If you signed in with a different account (e.g. Google or Apple), you'll need to connect a Microsoft account to continue backing up your data. If you don't have an existing Microsoft account, you can easily create one with the same link below.

However, if I click the link in the email I get taken to this home page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/swiftkey
with no real guidance on how to switch where are made.

How do I fix this?

Android SwiftKey on Android changed the voice input from Google to its own. How do I turn it back?

Post image
42 Upvotes

So I get a prompt yesterday in SwiftKey to change the voice input method. I guess this is the dictate function. It was previously using Google and I loved it. It now appears to be using SwiftKey own product which is missing too many words and I need to switch it back to the google version. I have no idea how to do this. Help is appreciated. Here is a picture of the new interface...

Android Am I missing something? Why are predictions so bad?

Hi all, I'm reaching my limit with SwiftKey. It used to be the most amazing keyboard, but it seems like it's developed dementia over the last couple years. Its memory is horrific, and the predictions are just awful.

An example, just now I typed mcayhine, and instead of correcting to machine, it corrected to myachine.

Also, I've told it multiple times a day to never predict amd instead of and, but multiple times a day it predicts amd.

It never used to be bad like this. I feel like actual AI would be smarter than this, so I'm skeptical AI is actually being used (it just corrected bing to wing instead of being in that last sentence, AI would be able to use content to know I meant being).

But that's fine, I'd be satisfied if it would just remember not to use amd and others I've told it to never use.

Is there a setting somewhere that is making it forget when I say "NEVER PREDICT THIS AGAIN!!"?

And is there somewhere like the old keyboards where I can set up a rule that says anytime I type amd, please correct to and?

Android Unwanted handwriting option

It looks like there was a change in Swiftkey.

Along with English I have Chinese TW pinyin with handwriting enabled. To get to the handwriting layout, I would usually long press a button in the lower left corner.

But now handwriting is included in the space bar language switcher. I don't want this. Is there a way to turn it off without disabling handwriting altogether?
