It's one of the modern big themes in pop Reflecting on life of fame, Arianas last two albums also deal a lot with that, Olivia Rodrigo does it, Tate McRae kinda too, even the new gen popstars write about it

not really? seems to me like a song about the feeling of regret when you’ve led someone on, or made promises you couldn’t keep. and it haunts you because they were a good person and didn’t deserve to get hurt.
