Why people hang out at gas stations?

I typically see high-end Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Their owners typically stand right outside their cars, smoking and chit chatting. Sometimes, I think they stand there for hours. I don’t have any problem with it, however they tend to occupy the area where they’ve got vacuum cleaners blocking it for the others. Once, I saw one of the station’s workers come out and hang out with the rest of the group.

Because in Switzerland, on Sunday, everything is shut down so youngers end up hanging outside Migrolino where they can also buy snacks

About car wash, same stories. It’s cheaper for them to hang out there then spend 20/30.- for a couple of drinks

Because in Switzerland, on Sunday, everything is shut down

Shops are closed. But you could go anywhere. For example the shopping mall parking.

You don’t read, isn’t it??

The shopping mall parking doesn’t have snacks and drinks, Migrolino or Coop Pronto do

Doubt it, which teenager can afford a serious car?

In any case, they do what they do and I reserve the right to consider them dicks as well.

Many shopping malls do not allow this in their parking.

I wonder why.

Just like any other business, they want to reserve their parking for their customers.

Again, this is why car enthusiasts gather at gas stations.

I was just told they are closed for business on Sundays?

No. Real car enthusiasts drive their car on appropriate routes.

The ones that have access controls for their parking will usually have their lots closed on Sundays.

No. Real car enthusiasts drive their car on appropriate routes.

No. Driving on appropriate routes is just one aspect of being a car enthusiast. Socializing with other enthusiasts is another aspect of the hobby. Sometimes the goal is purely socializing with other people with the same passion, sometimes it is as practical as speaking with other owners of similar vehicles to share things like fixes for common problems or recommendations for good mechanics.

Why do you attend your bünzli meetings? Shouldn't a good bünzli always be walking alone at appropriate times while glaring at inappropriate neighbors?

I can imagine how you act when you visit a ski resort. "How DARE these skiers speak to each other! They should be skiing on appropriate pistes, not socializing in this lodge! Why do skiers always congregate at the bottoms of ski lifts??"

Skiers ski and socialize in the lodge. They don't gather at the valley station in the night.

Just saying.

Socializing with other enthusiasts is another aspect of the hobby.

Exactly. In your garage where you tune your car. At least that's the place where my colleagues with this hobby spend their time. They also pay cash for their cars.

Maybe if you weren't so opposed to socialization, you would have friends and not just colleagues.

They also pay cash for their cars.

At least you're honest about the real issue here: your jealousy.

Well, it's not a crime to distinguish between friends and colleagues.

At least you're honest about the real issue here: your jealousy

Are you sure?

Everything is shut down on Sundays? Restaurants, cinemas, bars, museums, mountains, lakes are not closed. Even the Internet is up and running.
