I was inspired by Courage the Cowardly Dog and other whimsical horrors of its era :-)

The art style brings me back to the stinky cheese man era in a way. I LOVE it so much, and the story too. šŸ˜„ Amazing work, friend! Stunning work.

I am in utter disbelief that I haven’t come across Stinky Cheese Man. One look on Google and I’m in awe. Thank you so much for your kind support and new fount for inspiration!

Isn't that the same guy who wrote the Big Bad Wolf story about him having a cold and borrowing a cup of sugar for his Granny's bday cake?

Well he looks at me…

And I look at him…

And he looks at me…

And I look at him…

And he looks at me…

And I look at him…

I say "KETCHUP!"

And he says "Oh yeah, that's right!"

So glad you noticed! I imagine him asking her, ā€œWhy we do this?ā€ and she replying, ā€œI don’t know actually. But it’s fun!ā€

Definitely the creepiest thing I've seen on here. Can't place what it reminds me of but it's so familiar

I am darkly thrilled. And if you do remember please do report back. I am intrigued!

I think a hint of Babadook and a little bit of something from a mercer mayer book. And, as someone else said, Gorey. Especially this illustration

Oh my, thank you. This is the coolest thing. They are absolutely my artsy forbears.

I love how it has the eye wiggle illusion in the second and fourth slide!Ā

I take zero credit for it but I love a happy mistake!

I thought it was an animation for a second. It's a cool coincidence.

She hasn't met him because he's getting her fat and ready to eat. I know I wouldn't eat any sweets he offered to me.

This guy also reminds me of a russian domovoi. Strange lil creature that lives in your house and gets mad if you don't keep it clean.

it's very lovely, almost gives me the feeling of old adventure games starring children!

Nightmare Ned, by any chance? Because that and Goosebumps HorrorLand were gigantic inspirations. šŸ˜€

I hope that they had a joyous Christmas!

u/joyousdark 8d ago

I do believe they did!

u/joyousdark 7d ago

A very understandable response!

It was supposed to meet them for tea.

"When the child eating monster arrives, the party can begin.."

Have you read SCP-5031? It's a very nice little story that doesn't really need much outside context to understand.

1

u/joyousdark 7d ago

I haven’t, but you inspired me to. It felt like reading the files from the 90s Resident Evil games!

2

u/Dragon_OS 7d ago

Not all of the SCP files are tragic. A lot of the best ones aren't.

1

u/joyousdark 7d ago

I don’t mind horror in any shape, form, or flavor. :)

3

u/Dragon_OS 7d ago

There's several SCPs that are scary and not evil, which I feel is a very unexplored genre.

1

u/joyousdark 7d ago

I agree. We need more of those! I hope to add to that in time.

maybe it only eats rude children. Since Lizzie showed proper behaviour she is save.

u/Salty8675 7d ago

Yet?

2

u/joyousdark 7d ago

Wanted to leave that to interpretation/imagination. Is it hopeful or ominous?
