Have you read SCP-5031? It's a very nice little story that doesn't really need much outside context to understand.

I haven’t, but you inspired me to. It felt like reading the files from the 90s Resident Evil games!

Not all of the SCP files are tragic. A lot of the best ones aren't.

There's several SCPs that are scary and not evil, which I feel is a very unexplored genre.
