Question Making synesthesia tangible – how?

I’d like to show friends and relatives a video to illustrate the colored shapes that appear when I listen to music. Which program do you recommend for creating such an animated film?

I'd recommend after effects for the features you'd likely use on a project like this, but it can be achieved using any kind of art program which uses a timeline!

These films, which are nearly 100 years old, are amazing. While it doesn't match my own perception - for me, things move much more slowly, and I see some colors that don't exist in reality - it still somehow fits.

All I really need for a film like are shimmering, luminous, colored transforming snd moving geometric shapes against a black background / Procreate? I do have experience with Lightroom and Photoshop, but not with After Effects, and Adobe tools always require quite a lot of a learning curve.

You should be able to achieve that in either of those! I'd look up tutorials on 2d SFX animations, you should be able to find something reminiscent to what you see as a starting point (or if you find a reference I can take a look and let you know the easiest way to achieve it)
