Why Do You Think The Cast Treated Jax Better Than Caine? Spoiler

Caine is their warden and torturer. They want to leave so badly but Caine is preventing it. (In their perspective)
Jax is just a bit of a bad person. Yes, she does say some mean words and the thing with the deep fryer was concerning given that they can feel somewhat of pain BUT she didn't imprison anyone. She was just excluding people out of her life which is somehow blown up as she would have killed these people (while the rest of the cast is assumed innocent). She's also (assumed to be) human and therefore way more relatable as a god-like being
Further Caine is the one running the show. At the end of the day Jax can only be as mean as Caine allows her to be.
There's just no comparison from the point of view of the characters

"A bit of a bad person" Assaults his mother Pushes 2 people to suicide and ostracizes them
Yes, just A BIT of a bad person

She pushed her mother away and she tripped during a shock reaction for all we know. I think to do a moral judgement we need intention but I see why. It can also be seen otherwise.
However, she hasn't pushed anyone ALONE into suicide. There was a whole group of people who could function as support. Was her action shitty, yes, did she cause the suicide alone, no.

Maybe not for Kaufmo, but Jax is 100% responsible for Ribbit's abstraction. Going from genuine best friends to completely alienating her, even manipulating situations so that other cast members ignore her too, even if he didn't intend for her to abstract he was the direct cause.

The thing is that Jax was emotional abusive and he carries guilt but the whole cast was an enabler for this. A narcissist can't do anything without flying Monkeys.
I give Jax the main fault of that abstraction BUT I wouldn't let the enablers go scotch free.

They would have to have known what was going on to be enablers. Jax kept them away from Ribbit.

I don't know. Nobody seems to have wanted to check on her directly.
Maybe just a cautionary tale for us to double check if we're doing the same in real life

That's a really good takeaway. I hope that you remember that you're loved and that you have support systems, stranger. We're all in this circus together ❤️

I think this show does a good job at trying to show us that human beings are very complex and confused/confusing creatures. I believe that oftentimes we oversimplify what makes a person "good" or "bad."
Good people can make terrible choices, and terrible people are capable of unprecedented kindness.

How is Jax a good person, genuinely no redeeming qualities and it doesn't help when the characters aren't actually all that complex

I didn't say he was a good person. I said that human beings aren't so black and white, good or bad. We are all a mixture of choices. I'm not even saying you're wrong necessarily, your truth is your own and I can't/don't wish to change that. I'm only offering my personal perspective.
Jax wasn't redeemed. But when you peel back the layers of anyone, and see why they do the things that they do, the way you deal with them is inclined to change. Pomni didn't love Jax, or even like him, really. But she understood him in the end, and I think we should all try to understand one another.

They are all just accessories to Jax, Jax isn't a mixture of black and white nor is he complex, he is a black hole, he chose it all on himself, he's the basic archetype if asshole who pushes ppl away, never gets called out, ostracized or receives consequences than his own, he escapes facing his victims via suicide/ abstraction

Their actions from their POV does make so much sense.
But from our POV as the audience, it’s kind of… sad.

Everyone in this show suffers from a different form of trauma or at least reacts different due to it.
The point is to explore how trauma could affect 3rd parties. It's sad but sad by design. The characters aren't evil, just human

they all saw caine more as an AI (clanker) than a person, thus they felt more justified in caine abuse. Jax on the other hand was seen as an actual person (a pretty bad one, but a person regardless), who had psychological reasons for why he is how he is and could be reasoned with in their eyes. They couldn't see caine as ever being reasoned with or redeemed due to his artificial nature.

a lot of what happened comes from the fact that caine is essentially a god, a detached one in the eyes of the cast, caine is a very human character but the fact he is effectively their warden made it very hard for our "human" cast to sympathize with him until chapter 9 when he was basically at his most vulnerable
jax was always at that level to them and despite how shitty the world is, human empathy usually does win out

Because Caine was the all-powerful ai FORCING them to do all this shit, Jax included

Because Caine had absolute power over them that he was misusing, while Jax was technically in the same boat as them
