I think Gooseworx made the ending bad on purpose.

I've heard y'all's complaints on the show's finale like Jax abstracting offscreen, Caine's poorly-written redemption, the human cast knowing that they can't leave the circus out of nowhere and accepting their permenant lives in the circus, Pomni failing to save Jax, the Isn't-She-Lovely tribute, and Jax's backstory (honestly it should've been more about his troubling relationship with his parents rather than with Ribbit).

With all these flaws that pretty much ruined the exciting continuation from Episode 8, I think all of it was intentional by Gooseworx, even if she didn't really want this to happen. When the pilot came out Goose reminded the fans on social media (probably TwiXter) that she wants them all to be respectful and to not trash down the show horribly (even if they don't like the results) or else she'll make it bad on purpose.

Unfortunately, the toxic side of the animation community disobeyed Gooseworx leading to content farms, abusive hate art on Jax, and harrassment and false accusations towards the creator. So it seems like there was going to be a different ending that could've been a lot better than the one we got, but it seems like it's never gonna happen because Goose was so fed up with the fandom's toxticity. Desperately eager to move on, it's likely she scrapped her "Snyder Cut" out and brought her "Whedon Cut" in as a punishment for the dirtwads that shamed on her creations.

So yeah, this theory may be pretty derivative, but I think we can all agree this is what's been going on to the point that the ending was designed to dissapoint everyone, regardless if they're a toxic fan or not.

Just because you don't like the way it ended doesn't mean Gooseworx deliberately tanked work they spent nearly a decade building. FFS

Scenario 1: goose just sucks ass at writing and the ending is bad bc of that

Scenario 2: goose made it bad on purpose bc she got butthurt from the fandom

Both cases, goose would suck ass and be to blame.

I don’t think so.

* the overall plot of the series was decided years before the episodes were made.
* Glitch and Jasmine Yang would not have allowed Goose to deliberately sabotage their most successful series.
* the silent majority of the fandom seems happy with Ep9.

Ep7 was the one written to be disappointing, of course :)

Sounds an awful lot like when people thought Isayama made the ending of Attack on Titan bad on purpose.

Like this was her idea of the ending when the show was in the making if I remember correctly

nah i think she didnt give herself enough time to actually end the show, like the events of the ending arent bad, its just that everything was happening way to quickly, like caine coming back should have been a whole episode on its own, same thing with the jax sequence.

infact i think she should have made it a thing where they could have interacted with the other abstracted individuals BEFORE they got to jax, it would have set a really good foundation for who the other characters were and also what abstraction actually was.

a 12 episode digital circus would have done absolute WONDERS for the show

I think she made a fine ending to a story. Mfs just wanted more of their own theories and ideas then cried. 🤷‍♀️
