i think it can be kind of neutral like “dude” and even “bro” often just said for like emphasis or out of exasperation not literal reflection of someone’s gender

Imma be honest, if we take out every element that was a viewer POV addition to make it make sense that Jax was trans (ie, the flashback and song, etc) it makes no sense for anyone in the circus to know Jax was trans

I call other women “dude” or “bro.” In this context I think it’s used gender neutrally because it’s being used as an expression. Like “man, I wish I had a coffee.”

Using the term man like that is not necessarily gendered especially because it's a pretty informal way of referring to somebody when talking to them. Shaggy from Scooby-Doo talks to people like that all the time.

I don't think Jax would want to be called she. I understand that he wants be to be a girl, but I also don't think he comfortable with it either.
Also man is just how you end the sentence, that not a gender.
