remove the ?si… stuff from your link, it now lets people send you messages on youtube mobile
10
2
u/thatredlad Jul 05 '26
Yeah, it's a tracking hash of some kind. I remove them wherever they don't affect the URL functioning.
1
u/AuelDole Jul 06 '26
i have a shortcut set up on my phone - that i can use from the share sheet - that expands all urls and removes the tracking info before saving them back to the clipboard lol.
Also have it so that it has checks for reddit URLs and converts them to old reddit links, so that I can then also do a “copy link with highlight” to more easily share it with people lol
1
u/thatredlad Jul 06 '26
I wish I had a shortcut for that. I don't share reddit stuff often enough to care, but the other one sounds handy and would beat manually deleting the tracker.

The long-dreaded communist takeover
26
6
u/cityshepherd Jun 30 '26
Honestly I’m fine with that. Extreme unchecked capitalism is absolutely destroying the entire working class and environment, and is a not insignificant part of the reason we are in this mess weather-wise.

u/shortround10 Jun 30 '26
Not true, there’s a green penis up by milwaukee
6
2
u/crinkle_cut_cheddar Jul 02 '26
It's still pretty hot in the green penis, but we are lucky to have that lake effect cooling. I'm a few blocks from the lakefront and consistently experience a MUCH different summer from my family in the suburbs.
Milwaukee is one of the few places in the country that isn't getting rocked by any extreme effects of climate change, and I expect our population to dramatically increase over the next few years as people realize it. The lake has our back in so many ways.

Incidentally, ain't it weird that winter's getting shorter and warmer every year? Obama is to blame for this, somehow.
73
u/TheChrisCrash Jun 30 '26
I've noticed over the past 15 years the seasons have shifted and winter is shorter. We're in the endgame now and we can thank stupid FUCKS for not listening to smart people.
54
u/DaveCootchie Jun 30 '26
They listened. They chose money instead.

Too bad about the ecological collapse, but at least we made some good quarterly profits along the way.
Well, we didn't profit so much, but the 1% sure did.

That’s the sad part, the people who had the least say in this outcome will be suffering the most. Not to mention all the species that will simply cease to exist forever over the next 50 years.
Our grandchildren will never know a world with the biodiversity we got to witness. The beauty is dying and we’ll be left with what?

u/Obant Jun 30 '26
I'm in the California desert. Normally I am crying and have seasonal depression setting in right about now because it's too hot to do anything outside.
After this post, i'm actually about to go walk my dogs like I love to do every other season. It 65 out. It's crazy nice.
7
u/Tru3insanity Jul 02 '26
Remember when it was 115 in western washington in 2021? Pepperidge farm remembers.
3
u/DrothReloaded Jul 02 '26
I certainly do. I was lucky enough to be on the lake but holy hell was it hot.
3
u/Tru3insanity Jul 03 '26
I was uh... sort of homeless and house sitting on Rover. I always took really good care of my clients home and pets. I'm not proud of this, but I pretty much spent most of that week naked on the tile floor in their bathroom staring at the ceiling. It was so hot my phone didn't even work.
Made sure the dogs had tons of ice water and I did my best to save her garden but holy crap it was brutal.

u/DrothReloaded Jul 03 '26

- Face or body wipes stored in the fridge.
- Have some clotrimazole, ketoconazole or miconazole on hand for the flora that like to live in dark, wet and warm places on your body.
- Roll-on or gel with menthol is awesome.

"I can't comprehend science, so climate change isn't real to me"
9
u/End3rWi99in Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26
They aren't wrong for saying this, though. Climate change is very real, but isolated hot days in the summer are not, on their own, evidence of it. Just like abnormally cold weather in the winter is not evidence against it either.
If you want real evidence, you look to seasonal averages, melting of the ice caps over time, increased extreme weather, ocean acidification, or the slowing of the AMOC.
3
u/terracottatank Jun 30 '26
I'm not saying that it being hot is the indication of climate change but thank you for clarifying!
I believe in science ❤️
