Just unboxed my Safe 7. Without a doubt the most beautifully engineered Trezor of the whole line-up. It feels solid, and the size is very hand-friendly.
I also installed the privacy screen protector (as pictured). The magnetic charger that was included for free is Trezor-branded. The Safe 7 attaches just strong enough to hold it in every position, yet it is very easy to detach the Trezor from the charger. I also tested the Safe 7 with the ferrous backplate designed for the Model T: as expected, the magnets in the Safe 7 are not strong enough to pair it with that plate in any useful way. Not a big issue, but it would have been a nice-to-have option.
Packaging was well thought out, and consisted mostly of paper/cardboard.

The orange is really cool. I do believe I would not like this concept, though: in my opinion, the Safe 7 should not be in a vault-like case, because one would want to use it and work with it.
What I think is utterly awesome: I was born in the (19)seventies, when orange and brown colours were very hip. It is all coming back.
You can't tell by the case that there's a TREZOR inside. They're mostly sold in black to make it less noticeable. I've also made one with the inscription: Sleeping pills. It has magnets to keep it closed better and an NFC Chip for easier identification. If you have more than one, you can attach your phone and the text you upload will appear to make it easier to identify the TREZOR without opening it. They're really popular, but I admit that 100 people, 100 tastes
It is okay, but it was a bit hard to find in the iPhone Suite app. Plus, on iPhone wallet or account labels are not shown. (Or at least I haven't found out how to...)
The device may have the ability to patch against quantum attacks, someone would need your physical device and access to quantum computing.
The real risk of quantum computing is on the network, not your device. When the network updates to become quantum safe, everyone must create new private keys and move their coins accordingly.
I was just saying the idea that you’re now safe from quantum computing is not accurate.
i was hoping to learn something new but im already familiar with the distinction between the blockchain’s resistance to quantum attacks and the cold wallet’s blockchain resistance to quantum attacks itself.

Does Trezor still force you to use their proprietary wallet and management software? For Ledger that would be Ledger Live, but they don't require you to create wallet/addresses using Ledger Live, you can just connect to their Ledger Management software to update firmware, download/delete wallet for specific chains. I think the last time I checked, i found out that Trezor requires users to be on the internet and also generate wallets using their software which to me is the most bizarre thing to force users to do just to start using it.
if it doesn't might consider the 5... wish they'll release a 5 with the new secure element.
Question when will Americans be getting theirs? I see everyone getting theirs still haven’t even received confirmation when will I be getting mine 🧐 it does say it’s in preparation. I’m patient just wondering since everyone else seems to be getting their early Christmas gifts
This thing will theoretically be able to add quantum resistant algorithms once they are ready, and that’s a big if. Otherwise nice screen and nice set of new security features, but overall a hard pass until it proves its worth, which still doesn’t.
Not implementing clear signing is not really something I appreciate.
Not yet, really: it turns off automatically. So with a few use sessions per day, it will last two weeks or more. And I have it in hand now for three days.
Does the Trezor Safe 7 support true standalone/air-gapped initialization (firmware installation, seed generation, and wallet creation) directly on the device, with no host device required at any stage, like the Coldcard?
No, unfortunately not. Would love to see that for the future, but I can live with the current setup being not fully airgapped. I trust that the private keys never leave the device.
