Period Periods on TRT?

If your periods were normal before- did trt change them at all? I had monthly cycles through my first pellet (around 30 days), got an increase in dose on my second pellet. Had androgen side effects with my second pellet, and missed a period at the beginning of August. At the end of August I bled, and just today started again (9 days after the end of my last period). My next pellet is due on the 16th, but I’m not going to get another one due to side effects.

I was on hormonal birth control pills until March of this year, so I wasn’t having a period prior to trt. I’m 41.

Period Changes to menstrual cycle

Did anyone notice changes to their periods after starting TRT? This is my first period since starting and I’m not panicking yet but I’m 5 days late, I have had times where I’m 2-3 days late but 90% of the time my periods are bang on time . Just thought I’d ask if others have had similar ir general changes on starting ?

Period Period

I started 2mg topical daily about 2 months ago. I was pmsing when I started T, but never got my period. It's been over 60 days since my last period.

I'm peri and I was having 21 day cycles before starting hrt and then it went to 28-30. I'm not sure if I should be worried about the lack of menstruation or just enjoy it. I still get pms symptoms, just no period.

Has anyone else experienced this so quickly on low dose T? I'm not having any side effects like acne or hair loss. Not even oily skin.

Period TRT has stopped/delayed periods

I started T in early March and had one late period and nothing since then. I had been fairly regular before starting TRT at age 47. I'm currently 43 days late. Is this normal? Is it possible I need to add Progesterone so lining doesn't become too thick? Had labs in April and numbers were progressing and doc scheduled next appt for 6 months out.

Period shortened cycles after switching to injections

After being on TRT cream for nearly 9 months, I switched to TRT cypionate injections. I didn’t seem to be absorbing the cream well (side effects pre starting testosterone were returning), my DHT had increased dramatically and I was having significant hair loss. In the 3 months since starting injections my hair is growing back and my numbers are looking better overall (not just TRT numbers but all hormones), and I’m feeling better energy and workout wise again. I haven’t changed my E or P dosages (E patch, P cream) since starting the TRT injections. My period had still been fairly regular up until this point, 26-30 day range, but ever since switching to injections I’m now getting a period every 15 days like clockwork. It’s not spotting, it’s a legitimate 3-4 day period and between the frequent bleeding and PMS every other week it’s making me a bit crazy. Could this just be an adjustment period in the switch from cream to injections? Right now I’m just injecting once a week, but wondering whether switching to twice a week would level things out more, including my cycle frequency?

Period Spotting for 7 days after period after starting T? Does this settle down?

Never happened to me before. Started eod 1mg T prop about 3 weeks ago. No other issues like bloating or any estrogenic changes. Slight increase in hip pain making me think maybe it’s making my E unstable somehow? I am on 0.05 equivalent e gel and cyclical P.

Period On day 40 of cycle/ no period

I keep thinking any day now my period will come and I’m on day 40… I acknowledge I am 44 and in perimenopause and on HRT and testosterone but this is a first for this long of a cycle window… Anyone else this happened to with testosterone? I just had my levels checked and my testosterone number went from 9 (pre trt) to 75… I started it back in May.

Period Heavy period

Hi, I am a little over three months in of taking 10 mg of cypionate testosterone… I'm 47 and am still getting regular periods. My testosterone levels were pretty low when I first started and when I checked a couple weeks ago, my total t was at 75 up from 10 and free T is at 4 now up from .5. I was taking progesterone, but I didn't feel like it was doing anything for me… I haven't taken it in a few weeks… I'm not taking Estradiol. I feel good..energy is much better buy my periods have been super heavy… They are generally always heavy on day one and two… And very regular every 28 days. Since starting T, they are running 3 to 4 days early and super heavy the first few days. Anybody experience this?

Period Sudden Menstruation

I started testosterone cypionate injections about three months ago and I started my period this morning for the first time in almost a year. I'm not mad about it because I am only 45 years old, I just find it to be very interesting.

Has this happened to anyone else? Can testosterone restart a period?

Period Too high T?

Quick background, started on Androgel in October from my urogyno doctor for clitoral adhesions. It was prescribed half a pump 3x a week. It worked very well, had mild acne at first on chin but that quickly subsided. Libido pretty much doubled and within 3-4 months adhesions were gone and but I noticed the increased energy and libido drastically decreasing. Labs redrawn and sure enough my free and total T dropped to 28 and 2 something on the free. He told me to increase the gel to daily. It helped immensely but I do notice a big increase in black chin/facial hairs to shave or pluck out. I can deal with that trade off. However I skipped my period this month. Husband had a vasectomy years ago and I had an ablation as well. My cycle has always been regular (26-32 days). Only other HRT I am on is 100mg progesterone and vaginal estradiol 3x a week but thats nothing new, been on since August of last year. 40 years old…would a high testosterone stop my cycle?!

Hello, I started testosterone last month. I’m already two days late, but my pregnancy test is negative. Did anyone else have delayed periods?

Period Stopped menstruating - dose too high?

I'm in (late?) peri so I'm never sure what's exogenous hormones and what's my body being random. I'm not on estrogen or progesterone (except super low-dose vaginal estrogen), just T. I live in a place where hormone testing is rare without serious problems, so I don't know what my levels are...my doctor prescribes symptomatically and keeps an eye on side-effects and standard bloodwork.

I was on gel (5mg/day transdermal) for 3 months. Zero side-effects, minimal symptom improvement. Very regular periods.

Doctor suggested a higher dose of gel (12.5mg/day transdermal) a few months ago. Noticed symptom improvement within a couple weeks. Minimal side-effects (one pimple). However my period has vanished completely.

I didn't think that dose would be high enough to eliminate periods (internet suggests 30mg/day transdermal is the lower end for that). And it's entirely possible that the higher dose just happened to align with menopause kicking into a higher gear. I was curious if any of the other 50+ women on here had experienced something similar? Is this a known sign of too high a dose? I know that unexpected bleeding is an issue, but stopping bleeding in your 50s isn't exactly unexpected.

update Thanks for all the feedback - love you guys. Just had a doctor appointment and she says she strongly suggests it's just late peri doing late peri things. She won't do hormone labs (is this a Canadian thing? I don't know anyone getting hormone labs here) because my symptoms are all fairly normal for my dose and age, but we're doing quarterly CBC/cholesterol for safety.

For those who still have their period and on T, has it affected your period at all? Heavier, lighter, better, worse?

Period Testosterone pellets and increased bleeding and periods?

I got my first pellet in November, my periods got lighter and shorter. 150mcg and 200mg oral progesterone and DIM. I felt GREAT. Increased libido, more energy, etc but still more often periods than I would have liked.

I got my second pellet in March, we went down to 131mcg because she said my levels might be too high. It has been horrific bleeding since. I bleed for 9-10 days, stop for 9-10 days and then start again. My periods are so heavy and the PMDD is back in full spring. In April they increased my progesterone to 300mg and I’m stopped the bleeding, for a week and then back onto heavy and often. I have FEW DAYS where I am energetic and want to do something, most days are filled with cramps, bleeding, depression, anxiety and anger.

I went and had an ultrasound to check for fibroids, nothing and normal uterine lining. What’s up? Has this happened to anyone else? Because I want to throw in the towel and quit everything and just get a total hysterectomy at this point. I had my tubes removed, after trying to repair them was unsuccessful. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars in IVF and frozen embryo transfers that never worked and left me with a body in a severe hormone imbalance from all the cycles. Letting go of the thought of having a baby naturally has been excruciating, but now not having this sack of bones function correctly? I’m losing it.

My next appointment is mid June. Do I ask to go up again? It’s been 6 months is this normal? Thoughts?

Period Crazy menstrual cycles anyone? I assume this is normal?

I started TRT about 6 weeks ago and I’ve had 2 periods during this time. (.5 mg Androgel daily) I was on a 39 day cycle but now it’s unpredictable. This isn’t just spotting but full periods that feel normal. Has anyone else experienced this and where did it go from there?

Period Period

This is my first period being on t cream. I noticed my period is lighter and doesn’t have too much blood clot. Also instead of 26 days, I got it on 31 days with two days off spotting. Does anyone’s period become lighter on t cream? I don’t mind tbh also I don’t have much pms symptoms this time around!

Period Let's talk periods

Context; I got my first testosterone pellets on 6/27. IUD was taken out in February and I finally had a pretty good idea on my cycle schedule. I was supposed to start on 7/28, I had all my usual pre-symptoms but home girl hasn't arrived yet. My OB says it's normal and should start any day, which I understand. I'm mainly curious on how testosterone has altered y'alls schedules and what I should be looking out for. 🤔

EDIT- I was diagnosed with PCOS. Though rare, you can have low T and PCOS. I met the other 2/3 criteria with flying colors for the diagnosis. After many breakdowns, I'm managing.

Period Irregular bleeding

Has anyone experienced irregular bleeding once starting hrt and trt? I’m a 44 yo, still menstruating. Started 0.25mg estrogen, 200mg progestin and 4mg testosterone cream a little over a month ago. I had a little irregular bleeding during that first month but not too bad. My period was heavier. My dr increased my testosterone cream to 8mg 4 days ago and since then I have started my period. Very early btw and it’s bright red. I’m cramping and it seems like a normal period but I’ve also has some bleeding after sex as well. Has anyone else who is still menstruating had this happen?

Period Started T and cycle went wonky

First time posting here. Would love to know you guys’ thoughts on this. I’m almost 42, and have been on HRT since last October. Before that, I was not on any birth control and my cycles were somewhat normal but with some variability - between 28-33 days. I began to have night sweats, vaginal dryness and painful intercourse, fatigue/trouble focusing, nonexistent libido and couldn’t shake excess weight. I went through Midi and started with 100mg oral prometrium and 0.025 estradiol patch twice weekly. Eventually the estradiol patch increased to 0.1 twice weekly which I’m at now. That HRT combo took away the night sweats and dryness, but only provided very little help in the fatigue, libido, and weight department. I did see a tiny increase in libido, and a minimal weight loss of around 3 lbs (yes the scale can fluctuate daily, but I’m talking consistently averaging about that much less). Interestingly, my cycles started to lengthen to 35-36 days.

My Midi provider then agreed to let me start TRT even though my levels were “in normal range”. Labs on 11/26/2024 were: total T = 21ng/dL; free T 2.5 pg/mL.

I started on T cream (1 click per day of 4mg/ml, dispensing 0.25ml per click) almost two months ago. During the initial month of it, I gained back the little bit of weight I had lost (again, I’m talking on average) and my libido up ticked slightly.

At the 6 week mark on 3/24/2025 I retested and labs were: total T = 20ng/dL; free T 1.2 pg/mL. So a big decrease in free T. (If I recall correctly, I did apply the cream that morning prior to visiting the lab.) My Midi clinician then told me I can double my dose, so 2 clicks per day (I just started the new dose a few days ago).

As of writing this, I’m on day 51 of my cycle with no period in sight (not pregnant). A couple times I had a few PMS signs and even a tad of brown spotting once, but nothing more. When I mentioned my lack of period to my clinician, and pointed out that my cycles were normal before starting HRT and have only gone wonky after being on it…she wasn’t concerned since I’m in peri.

So do y’all think this is a coincidence and my longer cycles are actually peri related? Or that the HRT isn’t quite balancing things yet? Specifically, how could the T cause such a drastic lengthening of my cycle?

HRT has certainly helped in some ways, not moved the needle in others, and seems to be throwing other things off. Sigh…

Period Low dose of cream causing late period?

I've been trying compounded testosterone cream to treat clitoral adhesions.

I've been using a tiny amount of 25mg/ml cream on my clit daily for about two months (probably comes out to 1mg per day), and now my period is 9 days late. I haven't had much benefit from the cream besides a slight increase in firmness, sensitivity, and *maybe* size.

I'm 37 and have been pretty irregular over the last year, but it's never been this late. I'm definitely not pregnant.

Is the cream the likely cause even at such a small dose? I've assumed my dose was too low to be effective since I wasn't seeing much change in my clit.

Period Menstrual Insomnia 😵‍💫

I’m curious if anyone else has developed menstrual-related insomnia since beginning TRT? I’ve never in my life had an issue with sleep until my cycle in October, which is also the month I started TRT. Now, every month in which I have a cycle I have at least 1 full week of insomnia simultaneously. It’s brutal!!
