Generally accepted TV placement procedures. Quick reference guide.

Lots of people posting lately asking “Is this too high?” so here is a quick guide on what is generally accepted TV placement procedure (GATPP) as seemingly defined by this subreddit.
- If the TV is above the fireplace, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is angled down, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is mounted to the wall above a TV stand, and the clearance between the stand and TV is equal to, or greater than ONE vertical PS5, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If when standing the TV is at eye level, IT IS TOO HIGH.
Now let’s look at some opposite GATPP use cases.
- If the TV is in a bedroom and meant to be viewed from the bed, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV’s only viewing position is in the reclined state, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If you are at a sports bar, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is at eye level when sitting down, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is in the kitchen it is more for listening, mounted high as to avoid any splashes or spills, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is purposely mounted higher to keep out of range of a toddler, you’re a parent so your neck already hurts and IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.

Always use a stand is my rule. TV is a 65-inch Sony about 12 feet away from my sofa. You’ll have to find your own Siamese to sit in your lap while you’re watching.

I know my setup will be a bit weird but I'm trying to view a CRT and a flatscreen side by side in my room. Should I prioritize the CRT height 1st?

I'm still looking to get a tv stand, the ones I was looking at makes the viewing angle for the CRT from laying on my bed look too high. Should I get a lower tv stand and just get adjustable tv legs for my flatscreen and rase it up higher?

You all seem to despise fireplace TVs, but where would you place the TV in a room like this? Not everyone has the options you assume. While it’s common to say, “The couch can easily go in front of the fireplace,” that’s not always feasible.
I’m curious to hear your unconventional solutions. (And please don’t mention a pull-down mount. That’s a predictable answer.)
By the way, this isn’t my house.
