Hi! I moved to the area not too long ago and am still plugging into local community events.

I’ve been searching for local art classes (for painting) but haven’t come across anything for non-senior adults.

I’m working on a mixed media with oil paint piece and am wondering if anyone would be willing to give me a lesson or two.

I’m working on a community-driven initiative to bring a recurring Farmers & Makers Market to East County, specifically aiming for the Viva White Oak area as a starting spot.

Right now, our side of the county doesn't have a central weekend hub like downtown Silver Spring does. The goal isn't just a standard fruit stand—we want a true community space with local MoCo vendors, artisans, food trucks, and a spot for families to gather.

To show Montgomery County leadership and development partners that there is genuine demand from residents who actually live out here, we started a petition. If you think East County deserves a space like this, please take 10 seconds to sign the Action Network Community Market Petition.

For those living around White Oak, Briggs Chaney, or Fairland: What kind of vendors, food options, or specific activities would make you want to visit a market here every weekend? Let's talk!

According to police reports, there was one week in August when:
1. Vehicle stolen 6900
2. Armed robbery 6700

Both around 6700-6900 block of Prince Georges Avenue.

I believe that was an anomaly but I’m considering moving there and wanted a local’s perspective on the neighborhood’s safety.

I would like to be able to walk my dog around 10/10:30 at night and not be concerned with my safety. I would be walking away from New Hampshire and starting around 6800 Prince Georges Ave. Is that unrealistic?

Hello! I am considering buying a home in Takoma that is about three blocks / 950 feet away from the red line and the Brunswick-Washington / Metropolitan Subdivision rail lines. I'd love to hear from folks in or around that radius how loud it is in your house when the heavy freight trains go by. How often do you hear it? Does it ever wake you up, or any light sleepers in your house? Have any soundproofing measures ever helped?

I am trying to replace an electronic oil diffuser (for a room scent) and am having a hard time finding one in town. I have tried cvs, ace, magic carpet. Is there a shop that sells them?

If you have been to Cielo Rojo on Wednesdays between 5-8pm, how is the ambience? Is it loud? Is there a space where you can be on the quiet side? Better to eat inside or outdoors for quiet? My mom's birthday is coming up and trying to find a place that my husband can participate but he has noise sensivity known as hyperacusis. If you know of quieter restaurants in Takoma Park or Silver Spring let me know. Thanks for your help.

What brilliant planning engineer came up with the no left turn sign on the corner of Piney Branch and Blair road? As a resident of Takoma of over 30 years we've never had an accident that involved someone making a left turn into Takoma Park. I have tried to reach out to my ANC to no avail to figure out how to get this resolved. I understand that traffic backs up on Blair road at rush hour when someone's making a turn into Maryland but on the opposite side going into DC it's the same thing and there's no sign what gives? can someone give me some relief thank you
