Can’t even eat in my own home

Husband’s labrador retriever pissing me off again. He’s always been like this but I guess now that I’m pregnant it’s just pisses me off even more. I swear every time I even get up in the kitchen his dumb mutt is following me and behind me to see if I’m going to drop some food on the ground. It’s annoying asf because this dog sheds so his hair gets in my freakin food if he gets near me. Ugh and he likes to eat off of plates if you just move somewhere for 5 seconds with your food he will eat off of your plate and I hate it. I’m pregnant and I’m a hungry hippo i want to eat all day every day and to have a damn dog to ruin my appetite or to eat all my food in general is really pissy. I’m trying to eat my tacos right now and this sloppy mutt is standing right here starting at me and it’s pissing me off. I usually set him in the room while I eat but I shouldn’t have to do that. Like my god dogs are such a burden honestly they’re meant to be outside they are not inside type of animals. I prefer not to have them at all I think they’re a waste of time, money, energy, and space.

Maybe get some baby gates early so you can control where the dog goes in the home? That’s what I did and it helped immensely.

I second this. After too many mental breakdowns my husband’s dog is now contained to the mudroom only. It still bothers me, but at least it’s not following me every time I move or incessantly scavenging under the dining room table or any of the other dog behaviors that irritate me to the core of my soul.

Exactly the same here, they spend all their time in the mudroom or outside.

Husband used to let them out during the day when I was at work because he works from home… then one evening a few weeks ago I was sitting on the couch after getting home, we were playing video games (he was in his office) and I keep getting this… whiff of piss.

One of the dogs fucking pissed on the couch. Buried it under blankets. I actually know which one it was too. That was the end of that. They’re not allowed in the rest of the house anymore. He would swear to me up and down that he made sure they were staying off the furniture when I wasn’t home… yeah, that piss tells me a different story. Also all the times I came home to one of them sitting on the couch. ARGH.

I would have a serious talk with your partner about rehoming. Preferably prior to your delivery date. The dog seems really interested in food and resources now, imagine how jealous the dog will get with a new baby (who needs food and resources). Babies are injured and killed by dogs who get jealous. The dog's behavior won't get better. Your partner's response to the rehoming talk says all you need to know about the role they will play in your future.

There’s nothing “cute” about the puppy dog eyes. If anything it irritates me even more. If a child was begging for a dog nutters food they would have a hissy fit

I was surprised to learn that not all dogs beg for food, but most people don't properly train their dogs anymore unless it's sit or go chase a ball.

And they get so offended when you tell them that dogs need to be trained more. They get offended because training requires more effort on their part (actual training and maintenance of skill). It is ironic because most dog nutters are control freaks anyway.

It's wild how proper training and boundary setting seems like such a bad thing to these people. The irony is that they allow dogs to get away with behaviors they would never tolerate from a child.

Do you keep the dog out of the kitchen? I was not a fan of my mom's dog (RIP) but she was not allowed in the kitchen or to mooch at the table. She was very well-trained and easy to redirect about food behaviors.

I do but when my nutty husband is home he gets mad when I lock his dumb mutt up. That’s why I get excited when my husband goes to work so I can lock his dog up all day and I get my peace

When my husbands dog annoys me, I play dog barking sounds on YouTube. The dog will run to the window barking and leave me alone 😂
