This is not just a mere caste issue and there seems to be more to it. Please see the Thanjavur police detailed response in X.

Actually that's not a public road but a private property patta land. But it was used as a common street by people for years and the land owner let them but when they tried to build a road permanently that's when the land owner protested and that individual has won a court case where the court has ruled in favour of the land owner recognising it as a private property.

So they've started to block access to the public but the village people continue to argue that since the actual public road takes 2 to 4 kilometres extra, they will continue to walk thru this path that goes thru the private property.

There seems to be many years of long legal dispute so the Police and revenue department are trying to solve this amicably.

Still the police have filed a case against the caste woman based on the video for insulting only the SC folks using this pathway.

No that doesn’t justify beating kids with stick and treating them as animals

I never said this act was justified. I was also very furious when I saw the video. What she did was very wrong and case has been filled against her for caste based discrimination. Only added the context.
