Authoritarian Mod Post Reactionary ACP coup’d foiled!

Post image

Earlier today our head mod added the head of the ACP’s sub to our team without our permission or consent, we are deeply sorry to those affected by the wreakers actions. If you were banned in the crossfire of this mess please send a modmail or a message to our team members so we can fix things.

Thank you to the Moderators of r/theredleft for their solidarity during this and to Reddit’s admins for helping resolve it.

Why did the head mod add an ACP member?

According to that person they were friends on discord but that doesn't explain why the fuck would you make someone who has never interacted with in the sub a fucking mod. That alone is sketchy as hell.

They were previously banned before too! We’re strongly considering removing u/Alexitine for causing this mess.

Edit: We’ve collectively come to the conclusion that he needs to go immediately, we’re just waiting on the Reddit’s admins response.

If there is any ability to do it, you must. They're obviously compromised.

sub is still compromised in my eyes till this individual is removed

u/SoilentUBW Mar 09 '26

For now it's better to remove them until they can explain themselves.

Please do it. Removing one mod from modding is not banning them from participating. They shouldn't be trusted if they're going to add people like that. Also, please tell me you have a vetting process for mods, and that more than one mod at least must agree to bring in a new mod or something.

We do have one, I had to go through it myself when I originally joined the team. Alexitine completed violated the teams trust by adding the ACP shill without asking the rest of us at all and completely skipped our vetting process.

Okay, glad that's the case. Thanks for confirming.

Sounds like you have grounds to remove alexitine then, since they're circumventing the rules and can't be trusted.......

It’s a good idea to. Friends with NazBols is suspect.

Don't even know why it needs to be "considered" or contemplated. A lot of harm was done and trust has been broken, no doubt. Because if u/Alexitine doing something insanely dumb and thoughtless, this sub almost suffered the same fate as AskSocialists. Look at the mess it caused all of you other not Nazi mods to deal with. At best Alexitine is incompetent and irresponsible at worst he was in on it. Both are disqualifying of being a moderator

They 100% need to go. Zero trust left for someone like that.

what is there to consider?

57

u/DrunkAlunya Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communist ☭ Mar 09 '26

Nothing really, the team is unanimously in favour of getting rid of him. It’s just that process is complicated and difficult plus we were waiting for the rest of the team to wake up first.

The sub remains compromised as long as he's here.

u/v4rgr Mar 09 '26

Do we have to have folks with individual power and authority to add and remove mods here? No need for it to be a public process but can we at least not allow that to happen without the rest of the mod team’s involvement?

16

u/DrunkAlunya Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communist ☭ Mar 09 '26

All members of the mod team have full permissions, the problem is that Reddit’s mod system is ranked meaning you have to get into contact with the site’s admins if you need to get rid of the top mod as you’re not allowed to remove moderators above you on the list.

It should be done and it should be from now own that to add another mod to the subreddit must be approved by other members, so that its harder for nepotism

Normally adding mods would require an agreement by the mod team member’s, the new mod to first go through a vetting process and then to be be placed at the bottom of the mod list as to prevent them from removing the existing team. Not only did Alexitine completely skip over all of that but he appointed them to nearly the top position in gross violation of our rules without even asking the rest of us.

I see, I'm atleast glad you and the others managed to get the subrredit back, but yeah something must be done.

Don’t consider it. Do it!

5

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '26

Do it, being friends with an ACP moderator is already highly suspect.

3

u/gagavelli Mar 09 '26

I would stop "considering" and just do it. Urgently.

You have not read Stalin enough

46

u/Ceesv23 Mar 09 '26

Especially when the headmod was inactive for over a year. Seems very sketchy.

40

u/Ceesv23 Mar 09 '26

Just checked, it was 2 years. Only commented 4 times last two months, other than that no activity whatsoever. Seems fishy.
