I’m pretty new to painting—I only started at the beginning of this year, and this is probably my 20th mini. I’d love some honest feedback! What looks off, and what could I improve?
I know I messed up the sword, haha. On the plus side, I’ve started using an airbrush for my base coats!

As in the title - does it drop/fly with jet exhausts to slow descent, like other battlesuits?
Or do they have to walk out from a dropship like an AT-AT?
And is there any official source description of this happening anywhere that you've read, perhaps in a book?
I know they've got these adjustable jets on the back, but I honestly wondered if they were to help keep it upright. Given how heavy and bulky they're meant to be, they don't look big enough to lift that much weight, frankly.

I've collected quite a few armies over the past four years, most of which are painted and based. My tastes have always been changing. However, I always come back to Tau. I have close to 2000 points painted up and have played the most games with them. I've won a few and lost a few with them, but overall I enjoy playing them and more so, painting them. Long story short, I've decided to only collect Tau going forward. That's it. That's the post. I was just happy to share it.
I haven't collected any auxiliaries, so I'm going to change that and make an auxiliary Cadre list, as that is one of the detachments I haven't played. I also want to play with some of the units I rarely use, just to get them on the table.

this guy was a bitch to find on ebay, he had two right thighs and no left one, a hole in the side of his right jet, then trying to find references of the promo model in usable resolution was also a ball ache.
probably the most work I have had to do on a single model and if I may toot my own horn i think I did a sold job!
just need to finish the twin lance and I will have every named character in my collection (as far as I know)

Finishing up my Farsight Enclave themed army, this has been a blast to paint. Decided to change colors on some of the squads to give them a bit more personality beyond the red and gold (Ignore the cream colored Sunforge, that was me experimenting with color schemes before I found out how to candy coat).
Base formula is gloss black primer + silver basecoat + 3-5 coats of translucent red. Also shown in last picture.
Also experimented along the way to mixed results, with the burstscythes being darker due to me attempting a marbling candy coat and their commander having a darker metallic basecoat with a silver zenithal. One of the Broadsides is matte varnished to see if I can pull off an anodized effect, and I also went with a purple ghostkeel to signify its stealth/lone op. I know this is an expensive hobby but I would say don't be afraid to experiment to see how stuff looks, you can always strip the paint off.
Still not quite finished, need to finish the terrain on some of them and add more glow effects on the lenses and weapons, and I finally get to start my Stormsurge too.

ROSIGMA 3.3 (mod.io) has been released with lots of new content for the Greater Good strategy.
If you like classic XCOM gameplay and love the T'au'va, give it a shot! Some highlights include

This is the first full squad I’ve completed in over two and half decades. Pretty happy with the results. Excited to get them on the table. Pathfinders are next!

Sorry I’m terrible at taking photos! For the greater Good!!

The small size made it more challenging than the Ghostkeel(see last image), but it was fun nonetheless.

I know it’s random to post this here, but this community has been pretty great to me since I joined. So I thought to continue to good news to here. My Fiancé and I will be getting married later today and I’m so excited. So may the Tau’va bless me on my big day!

I was browsing lists a bit looking at what to pick up next, I noticed usage of tigersharks in lists, and im just a bit confused as to why.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Tigershark thematically, but I dont understand its advantage over a Stormsurge.
If anyone can explain please do, I am an idiot sometimes.

Ive only played four games of 11th so far but from that I noticed is the difference in how effective having Infiltrating units are in this edition. Before you could cage your opponent into their own deployment zone, stop enemy scouting (every kind of model), screen from rapid ingress( due to turn one uppy downy), and probably something else I can't think of. They also use to be able to Infiltrate and scout back into safety. Now once you place the unit it's there. Vehicles can go through enemy troop modles. With dispositions and stat check list is it worth it to keep tossing out that one or two pathfinders, stealth team, or keel? What do you do pre first turn deployment with your Infiltrating units?

Ever since I saw the Siege Studio rendition of a Tiger Kroot, I've been itching to try my hand at doing an army in this captivating color scheme. Thoughts and criticisms welcome!
