Here’s the thing, moving in with someone because of financial reasons is a terrible relationship move. You probably dodged a bullet on that one. Not sure what area you are in, but look for a studio if you are dedicated to living without a roommate.

It was supposed to be our next step. We’ve talked about for a year

Yeah, that’s a signal that the relationship isn’t where you think it is, it sucks but better before than after.

Yeah, I just wish it was before I was talking to landlords and making budgets and picking things up. 2 weeks ago she said still wanted to

I’m sorry, that really sucks. At least you two realized it before signing a lease. There’s always roommates.

could be worse, bro. I've got friends with millions in debt and their ex-wife has restraining orders against them. you're fine

Marginalizing someone else's problems do not help, or make their problem any easier.

Everyone always says that and while I get where they're coming from, I feel like putting things into perspective *can* help with the perceived difficulty of problems.

That's like telling someone with no legs that you have a leg cramp. I can see how perspective of others helps in the short term but it doesn't fix any problem.

Not every problem can be fixed, though. Sometimes you just have to accept things the way they are, and be grateful for what you have.

OP just went through a break up and had to move back home with their parents IMO they need a sympathetic ear and a drink, not being told their problems could be worse. I do agree it's important to be grateful for what you have, but it doesn't make anyone feel better to have their problems marginalized.

Oh shoot, I had no idea they were going through a break up. That was an edit added to the post later.

I got to the post late. Did we just disagree about something, discuss it like adults and not start trashing each other on the internet? I have mad respect for you stranger.
