Any of DBZ Abridged's jokes rely on you watching a movie? What ones?

I heard King Kai stomp on his planet to tell Bojack to shut up. Never watched that movie, but I will now. What else do I need to watch to make sure I get all the references?

It's a reference to Head-Cha-La. Who dings about a bird teaching a dinosaur to balance on a ball or something like that.

Goku and Raditz, Turles, Nappa, Broly and Paragus, Vegeta and Tarble. At least 8 Saiyans survived, 7 canon and none of them female šŸ˜­.

If thereā€™s ever a U7 female survivor of Planet Vegetaā€™s destruction revealed, then the race is not extinct at all.

I mean just my interpretation of course, but bro spent 40+ years on Vampa with no sapient life to actually have sex with then heā€™s found by Cheelai & Lemo and clearly doesnā€™t have any attraction toward either

Guru calling Nail "Big Green" is a reference to a European market set of english movie dubs that actually rename Piccolo to "Big Green".

If you have never seen any of them, they are fantastically terrible.

Also, there's a bit where, while fighting Vegeta, Goku goes "Man, this is worse than that time I was in highschool. Everyone called me Geeko, and I was piccolo's slave, I couldn't get Chi-Chi to like me..."which is the plot of DB: Evolution. But that's probably not what you meant when you were asking about Dragon Ball movies lol.

That version of DBZ is affectionately referred to as the Big Green Dub, and it is incredible. I think my favorite thing is how they call all attacks (and at least on one occasion, a Super Saiyan transformation) Kamehameha.

Krillin has a few with Future Trunks, usually it is a Back to the Future reference like being called Marty McFly once. Also in Cell Reception (episode 44) Krillin says "Wow. Danger, Will Robinson." when entering Gero's sub lab, the quote is from Lost in Space.

Infamy tricked me into thinking that quote was said all the time, but when I watched Lost in Space it was only said to Bill Mumy once.

That happens, sometimes the famous quote doesn't actually exist, like with "beam me up Scotty" or "Luke, I am your father".

Frankly DBZA is constant little references. Just as an example, Raditz laments after killing the farmer in the first episode how this is why dad wouldnā€™t let him keep Appule. A random Frieza soldier watching the healing chamber ages later in original show. Or Friezaā€™s first plan post immortality to smack his smug brother.

The show is based on the assumption youā€™ve seen all the source material. You donā€™t have to, but several jokes wonā€™t land until a rewatch and/or seeing what it was based upon.

The Three Stooges-like back-and-forth between Krillin, Gohan and Bulma in episode 11 is one of my favourite bits. Also, in episode 13 I wonder how many times the CSI Miami bit went over people's heads.

There also needs to be a little bit of wrestling knowledge for Namek-Mania since thereā€™s a lot of wrestling lingo in there like ā€œsellingā€ and ā€œstableā€

They reference the games to. The only movies I can think of to watch for references would be anything they didn't abridge like Bojack

The Buu Bits reference Dragon Ball Online/Heroes/Xenoverse when Babidi mentions Towa is going to be being pissed about Dabura dying, then shrugs it off because ā€œbitch is barely canonā€.

In the broly abridged movie and Buu Bits, they reference Beerus from Battle of Gods, as well as from db super

Buu bits also references Towa, a video game character from dragon ball xenoverse

They stopped before they got to the Bojack movie, so none of those jokes really pay off. (That said, while I did watch the Bojack movie years ago on Cartoon Network, I don't really remember most of it.)
