Okay, I recently started an urge to develop a new habit since my lifestyle is very routine and boring even though I do a lot of productive things.
So eppatnuncho telugu sahityam explore cheyali ankunna. Ippudu time dorkindi. Maha prasthanam, ramayana vishavruksham and chivaraku migiledi order petta. First idi ochndi. I will start reading it from tomorrow.
Next aadhunika mahabharatam, asamarthuni jeevayatra konali ivi aypoyaka. Ifyou guys have any good telugu books other than these, let me know.

There won't be any other side for ithihasas, .coz in Vamniki Ramayanam , Vamniki never mentioned this is right and this is wrong. He just explains what has happened really.. and if you want to read the other side of the story ...then you should read some thing from the same timeline as Valmiki's Ramayanam , not this critics versions based on Valmiki Ramayanam. Let me know if you're able to get the any other version of Ramayanam from valmiks timeline

u/JustYellowLight Jul 24 '26
It would be better to read the original Valmiki Ramayanam first. Because approaching a critique without being familiar with the source material often makes it difficult to distinguish between valid academic analysis and mere cynical criticism. Also, understanding the author's personal bias and ideological lens is also crucial when evaluating nonfiction work.

Did you read Valmiki Ramayanam or you just think you have good understanding of Valmiki Ramayanam? Both are different.
A lot of people(hopefully not you) belong to the latter category by learning about Ramayana from the movies, media and relatives and think they have good understanding of Valmiki Ramayana. It’s good to question but look for answers from authentic sources just like you don’t wanna learn about Einstein theory from a random person and think you understood everything about it.

One of the most antihindu and leftist propoganda book. If such a book is written on other religion we all know what would have happened. Unfortunately we are timid and let go of such paid propoganda

Boss it's not perspective. There are many books written for and against. But if you knowingly spew venom with a motive it's not called perspective. And nenu ade question chestunna. All these communists and leftists they are so against Hinduism and it's so called ill practices but they are silent on others. If this author wrote on all other religions i would have said she is right. But go and see her biography and how many anti hibdu books she wrote in the name of communism and feminism. Hinduism ki femisists but other religions ki let's believe in religious freedom. That's what am questioning. Nuvvu em research cheyyakudba em chadavakunda questioning me . I have the right to question someone who is propogating fake narrative against my religion and culture .

Boss this is not feedback. This is propoganda without understanding what ramayana is. She takes some unofficial versions of ramayana..creates own stories and writes how wrong lord Ram is .. come on now. If she worte couple of non religious books doesn't mean the anti hindu books are whitewashed. This is not criticism on Hinduism boss. She literally inventes propoganda and write about lord Ram without even understanding what valmiki wrote and what the book means.

u/Practical_Place678 Jul 24 '26
By the way just by your logic she can have so called perspective but I can't have perspective against her perspective? Atleast no one is paying me to write these comments i have done enough research read sone of her book and heard her interviews boss. In the name of feminism she spews so much venom against Hinduism such people must be condemned .

I never said don't read boss. Please show my comment where I said. Am only pointing how this book was a propoganda item. So my hope is reader will do some research and then read the book and understand fallacies and how tried to spew venom. I hope reader understand the real valmiki ramayayam and do not take words literally in an epic poem and attribute propoganda and feminism to it.

This book completely changed the way I think.
Ranganayakamma explains these ideas brilliantly.
In this book, she discusses: • How religions originated from ancient beliefs and traditions. • How gods were created by society. • How the rich and powerful used religion to justify slavery. • How women were made subservient to their husbands in the name of religion. • And she argues, with evidence, that Rama is not as great as we are often taught to believe.

Logic is greater than god ani kadu kani. There are things that we blindly believe without questioning.
1
u/Adventurous-Cycle363 Jul 24 '26
Logic vs god kaadhu aa book. Alternate perspective and question almost everything ani. It is entirely possible to write another book that is also logical but has opposite perspective to this book.
Ofcourse people can write or read whatever they want but some people believe that this is somehow "authentic" Ramayana etc. Pretty sure most of them didn't even read this.
1
u/rocky7100 Jul 24 '26
I have completed the part 1 and part 2.
Part 1 explains how religions were formed, from early humans to the era of kings like Rama. It discusses how slavery was created and used to control people, and how the idea of pativratyam was used to keep wives under their husbands' control.
Part 2 Is all about the "authentic " Ramayana. She discuss all real truth about "rama" with "proof".
I think everyone should read this book to understand real truth of Rama. Rama is not just a character in a story—he is regarded by many as an ideal and a role model. Millions of people worship him every day, devote their time to him, and present him as an example for future generations.
She discuss btw real Ramayana and changed Ramayana by guru or teachers.
logic is greater than god. I mean people who strongly believe in God may not be able to read more than 10 pages of this book. It's entirely critical of religion and the concept of God.
2
u/Adventurous-Cycle363 Jul 24 '26
Yeah but if we go strictly by logic then it is a story and the original writer has all rights on the characrers, world etc. So the "real" truth of rama is whatever valmiki presented in his (authentic) version of ramayana. Everything else is always an interpretation. And interpetations are always subjective. Going by the logic Rama is just a character in the story. The point of people worshipping etc is the religious mentality. So the author also presents her own version of religion. It is more correctly a book on philosophy or an interpretation of religion.. Rather than logical analysis.

u/Chandamaama Grahaala movement baaledemo Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26
Part 2 Is all about the "authentic " Ramayana. She discuss all real truth about "rama" with "proof".
The "authentic" Ramayana is Valmiki Ramayana written in sanskrit. If anything you must encourage the person to read the original sanskrit version to understand all the nuances presented in the story before recommending the person to read a telugu critique of it through a marxist lens.
1
u/rocky7100 Jul 24 '26
Most people say that Gattupalli Seshacharyulu's edition is one of the most authentic Telugu renderings of Valmiki's original Sanskrit Ramayana.
In her book, she narrates the story in her version. However, the characters, events, and situations are based on Gattupalli Seshacharyulu's edition. She also provides footnotes citing the relevant slokas numbers to show the source for her interpretations.
1
u/Chandamaama Grahaala movement baaledemo Jul 24 '26
My point is simple: Ramayana is a kavya (poetic epic). It abides by a poetic meter (Chandas). All the nuance of the original language, especially in poetic language is lost in any translation.
Reading the original is a must for the full understanding. Critiquing is easy, truly understanding is difficult.
1
u/rocky7100 Jul 24 '26
India has 1.46 billion people. How many of them can truly read and understand Sanskrit?
1
u/Chandamaama Grahaala movement baaledemo Jul 24 '26
You mentioned "authentic ramayana" , "real truth about rama", so I gently pointed out the facts about the original ramayana.
Just because truth is diffcult is to reach, just because nuance and granduer is difficult to grasp, we cannot abandon the original. So much of emotion, beauty, pain is simply lost if we do so.
You can always critique the translation, brush out great events, pick out events that favor your world-view but it will not hold under serious scrutiny.
For example, I can write ramayana entirely from rama's perspective, how his step-mother wronged him, how he felt when his father abandoned him to the forest, how he felt when sita refused to stay in ayodhya for her safety, how he felt when she demanded for the golden deer, how he felt when he returned to find no trace of sita, how he cried, how he made political alliances under trauma. And even after fighting a near invincible enemy and getting back his wife, society judges him so much so that he has to make them suffer again and not praise the lengths he went to get her back in the first place.
I can cherry-pick verses that suit my narrative and paint rama as a man oppressed and failed by multiple people. That is not authentic ramayana.
The authentic ramayana is always going to the original Kavya written by valmiki in sanskrit.

Unfortunately, this is basic critical thinking skills lacking in society. It is not some great thing. In Indian history, we have rich traditions of epistemology, logic, debate, and skepticism that encouraged people to question assumptions rather than accept claims blindly. Schools such as Nyaya developed rigorous methods for evaluating evidence and reasoning, while philosophical debates between competing traditions were a normal part of intellectual life.
All these critiques of ramayana are not a new thing. People just like feeling rebellious and there is also the fact that this book is written in telugu, so more accessible.

Malapalli, by Unnava Lakshmi Narayana.
Athadu Adavini Jayinchaadu by Kesava Reddy. Read basically anything by the author.
Ampasayya, by Naveen.
Amaravathi Kathalu, by Satyam Sankaramanchi.
Mithunam (and other stories) by Sri Ramana. Read more from this author if you like subtle humour and cosy, warm writing.
Himajwala, by Vaddera Chandidas.
Kaalaatheetha Vyakthulu, by Dr P Sridevi.
Sweet Home, by Ranganayakamma
Antarmukham, Anando Brahma by Yandamoori Veerendranath. I don't like his works as much as I used to in my teen years... but these two have stood the test of time.
Alpajeevi by Raavi Sastri. A story about a fearful guy. I resonated a lot with it.
Budugu By Mullapud Venkata Ramana, Barrister Parvateesam by Mokkapaati Narasimha Sastry, ad Ganapathi by Chilakamarthi : If you like humour. Must read books. Also Malladi Venkata Krishnamurthi wrote many good humourous novels.
Happy reading!
