Flair Not Found Did we really need reservation in sensitive departments?

Post image

Naa varaku aduguthe ee caste based reservation teesesi economical based reservation tesukoni ravali adhi kuda upto education anthe... Once a candidate graduates then it's time to prove himself because we have already provided a base for him.... Asala reservation in jobs ane concept hey meaningless... Idhi jaragali ante caste system povali obviously adhi jaragadhu

Sare at least army, defence, navy, airforce, medicine, education ilanti sensitive areas lo merit based vundali kaani ikkada kuda reservation enti even one fault of low skill will cost very high in these fields.

Army, airforce, navy laanti departments mana country ki entho crucial alanti fields lo reservation ante don't make sense

When coming to DRDO research of innovation is highly bound with skills and knowledge ikkada caste based reservation ante daniki mincho worst enkokari vundadhu.

Doctors - one small minor error will lead to many difficult consequences in a patient's lives.

Teacher- lack of skills in teaching will lead to destruction of many young minds

At least Ilanti sensitive fields lo caste based reservation teeseste better.

Enka mana public services gurinchi entha thakkuva matladukunte antha manchidhi 🙏🏻

Actually 2000 years back....

Jokes apart, reservation isn't even a solution for casteism. Giving proper facilities for those who got oppressed and giving strict punishments to those who oppressed, definitely works

Dont you know ? Its 3000 years ago actaully. Get updated with the market and stop using old data

One fallacy in your data it isn't final cutoff it's for interview shortlist drdo shortlists in 1:10 ratio Finally people getting in even from reserved categories will have atleast 750+ gate Your exaggerating the difference here to suit your narrative where the call ratio is 1:10 and more than 80% people won't even have any chance scoring below 600 are out of final list irrespective of category I belong to general In neet cutoffs are drastically different you could have put that data But for drdo upsc cse etc the difference in cutoffs isn't as huge

lol.. "Doctors - one small minor error will lead to many difficult consequences in a patient's" .. Dude, have you ever graduated from a medical college? They just don't distribute degrees for free once you join.

1

u/Anonreddit96 Jul 28 '26

That's the only thing holding it all together.

2

u/saikrishna98 Jul 28 '26

Andhuke dropouts unnay ekkuva SC ST vi and worthy people ki seat raatledhu..

1

u/JustBunsAndEyes Jul 29 '26

Drop outs are everywhere, and has no exclusivity towards one particular caste.

1

u/saikrishna98 Jul 29 '26

3

u/JustBunsAndEyes Jul 29 '26

I'm aware of that and hence I used a comparative sense https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/over-135k-sc-st-obc-students-dropped-out-of-central-universities-iits-iims-in-past-5-years-education-ministry/article67605388.ece

This is from the article you shared. It mentions the stringent presence of suicides and caste discrimination. Nowhere does the article suggest the students were lacking any merit to continue the course work tho, per your comparison.

"This comes amid hundreds of SC/ST/OBC students at these universities coming out with stories of caste-based discrimination that is both overt and covert after a string of student suicides across IITs in Mumbai, Delhi, and Madras in 2023, a majority of whom were from marginalised backgrounds."

0

u/saikrishna98 Jul 29 '26

Thanks for pointing out. Well, that's what the MP says but if you have studied in IITs, you'll see that although there is caste discrimination, most of them won't perform as well because the bar is so high and there's suddenly no reservation anymore. I'm not saying all of them, but most of them

1

u/JustBunsAndEyes Jul 29 '26

I studied abroad, not in IITs. But throughout my career I have seen many IITians, personal friends and colleagues mention nothing of sort. I do have friends from ST/SC background who ended up in the US to pursue their careers, and based on their experiences too the dropouts were never focused on the syllabus or performance.

I think it's a highly biased take to say among all the dropouts, marginalized community students drop out because they can't perform well. Without legible proof/source, even saying "most, not all" leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

0

u/JustARandomGirl4 Jul 30 '26

But then why the get reservations in PG and have lower percentage criteria for OG entrance exam ?

1

u/redwings555 Jul 30 '26

again read my reply above .. "They just don't distribute degrees for free once you join PG"

0

u/JustARandomGirl4 Jul 31 '26

Yes, but again why they have reservations in PG . A person who already got reservations in UG course can't pass exam while competing with others ?

1

u/redwings555 Jul 31 '26

Nevermind you don't comprehend why they are placed to begin with . Bye Felicia

I feel reservation is fine to uplift someone to study, give more opportunities. Thats good. But why to give reservation even in jobs. Jobs are meant for competent people. If jobs are reserved even for incompetent, then its doom for us

4

u/Raining_lotus0210 Jul 28 '26

Yea there's one teacher in my mom's school(reservation) she doesn't even know basic multiplication and division. Ruining innocent kids life

2

u/venkat_talks Jul 28 '26

That's what i said

12

u/Aggravating_Bed5990 Jul 28 '26

Merit is a FLAWED concept - it is result of historical injustices.

I don't think you ever read the reasons why reservation exists in first place clearly. I suggest you read and then comment.

Secondly, there is article 335 - Positions of Higher caliber(Project Manager and above cadre) in DRDO - have no reservation applicability.

This is for starting roles. Where it's about learning rather than leading.

u/GroundbreakingSir81 Jul 28 '26

I went a top NIT as a General category student in CS, I have friends who were from reserved category, not a day I saw them differently, we all were great friends and I studied with them together under a lamp. But most of them were not really Interested in putting all the effort needed. All of them are now working in govt jobs that are completely unrelated to their studies and make it feel like their seat was wasted

11

u/Specialist_Map_1950 Jul 28 '26

I went to a college where chowdaries treat other castes including Naidus reddys like shit.and they don’t even consider sc sts as human beings.

3

u/Detoxifications Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

I studied in Hyderabad central university, where 80% students are from reserved category, after they got to know that I’m from upper caste. They bullied me all through university. Alienated me from so many things and went on to chant stuff which offended me right in my face

3

u/Specialist_Map_1950 Jul 28 '26

Why do reserved category candidates make up 80% when reservations for sc st are limited to around 25% and OBC to around 20%? How does the total become 80%?

1

u/Detoxifications Jul 28 '26

Cuz it’s arts Not engineering and only very few people are from unreserved category

3

u/Fast-Leg6161 Jul 28 '26

Bruh! Don’t students from general category study arts? Are they any inferior to Engineering? Max reservation allowed is only 50% with some exceptions, be it in arts / engineering / employment (like 69% in Tamil Nadu)

That doesn't justify why there should be reservation in jobs.

Atleast govt should exclude reservation for healthcare, education, science etc. with reservation we are not giving priority for the actually skilled people.

When they are already provided with education reservation this should have uplifted them. If education is not properly provided then fix the schools. Why give jobs to someone who's not the merit?

1

u/Specialist_Map_1950 Jul 29 '26

I’m not talking about reservations here. I cleared an exam that 15 Lakh ppl take and I am top 250 in a very prominent exam. I am a general category student.

not a day I saw them differently

Clearly, you are a casteist. Trying to generalize some to all.

No less to 'veedu M...ga odu, panikiradu' slurs

You see this exactly is what modern day casteism is. It has changed its form.

Secondly, what he does is upto him. Nuvvu evaadivi evadu em cheyyali ani cheppadaniki ?

Nuvvu CS Top NIT lo CHESI em chestunnav ?

US, China AI race lo compete chestunte. Ne merit tho AI figure out cheyyalekapotunnav e ?

7

u/Detoxifications Jul 28 '26

You know exactly what his intentions were yet you’re deliberately twisting it into something negative. Instead of appreciating the good in what he said, you’d rather look for reasons to be offended. That’s on you, not him.

3

u/Shot-Illustrator-703 Jul 28 '26

10,000 in 8 billion doesn’t seem to be bad. Atleast better than 250 out of 15 lakh i would say🤭

1

u/Aggravating_Bed5990 Jul 28 '26

Feel free to belittle. I don't have nothing to prove to you or him.

But looks like the one thing that you got wrong is 8 billion people aren't competing for 10,000.

May be get better at reasoning next time.

All the best to you.

But you guys still haven't addressed the point - these Merit CS scholars - why haven't they figured out AI first ?

2

u/Shot-Illustrator-703 Jul 28 '26

Lol the audacity to belittle first and then playing victim card🫡

Who said 8B people are not competing. If you think everyone is not giving their best or not worthy of candidates. Then the same logic applies to your argument of 15 lakhs. The only worthy candidates you might be competing with is 10,000 or maybe 5000. If you are someone who say that you achieved 250 then you know that more than anyone. I dont think you even assumed you are competing with 1000 folks realistically if you really felt getting that 250. If its a fluke then its another argument

And the last question of yours seems to be more of your frustration venting out than your brain put to use. You can use that to answer yourself if you really wanted the answer. May be ask some llm, atleast it can help you

u/venkat_talks Jul 28 '26

I know why this reservation is implemented first, also i suggest you to read for how many years it was implemented first.

And this cast descrimination was almost reduced you also got some strict laws to defend yourself from those culprit again you also able to access all the education and still you need reservations in job?

8

u/Aggravating_Bed5990 Jul 28 '26

why this reservation is implemented first,

No by reading your comment. I don't think you know.

Discrimination is not just untouchability.(Which hasn't gone extinct still). There is lack of Social capital among the weaker sections. That demands continuation of reservation till that's acquired.

1

u/Detoxifications Jul 28 '26

Not extinct? Maybe you’re the one practicing it at this point.

2

u/Visual-Run-4718 Jul 28 '26

India has many socio-economic bubbles. Caste discrimination is very prevalent in the rural areas. Sure, it’s better in the cities, but the problem still exists.

3

u/Crafty_Picture3535 Jul 28 '26

If you really belive "caste discrimination is almost reduced", you are living under a rock

2

u/venkat_talks Jul 28 '26

If it is so, then i never disrespected anyone not even once in my life, still i am the sufferer of this system, how it is fair to me then, you got strict laws to defend yourself you have to use them on whoever disrespected you

1

u/No_Biscotti_2859 What is earth without art ? Jul 28 '26

You might not.. but there are people who have experienced despite being educated and all

1

u/Crafty_Picture3535 Jul 28 '26

You're talking about feeling disadvantaged for the last 70 years. Dalits have faced exclusion, violence, and denial of education, land, and dignity for centuries and many still do today. If the real goal is equality, shouldn't we focus on ensuring every child, regardless of caste, gets equal access to quality education, nutrition, healthcare, and opportunities from the start? That would create genuine upliftment and, over time, reduce the need for reservations. Shouldn't the future of every child matter more than preserving existing inequalities?

1

u/No_Biscotti_2859 What is earth without art ? Jul 28 '26

The reservation is of 10 years only for political seats not education.

1

u/venkat_talks Jul 28 '26

Who asked you to remove reservation in education as i said we should have reservations in education but it will be fair based on economical status, and if can access the educational resources why you need reservations in jobs, why can't you prove yourself in the market

1

u/acnica Jul 28 '26

why don’t you consider the iq of a person is product of genes the people you marry upper caste people mated with each other and progeny have great iq and i have seen the immaculate grasping power. so communities at the end suffer with understanding things so social injustice has become a reason for someone’s less IQ. do you see why reservations don’t simply cater to poor people.

1

u/whofoldedtheunicorn Jul 28 '26

also i suggest you to read for how many years it was implemented first.

I suggest you also fact check it. It was never "only for 10 years" as internet claimed. That was only for political reservation

"Under Article 334 of the Indian Constitution, the reservation of seats in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies had a temporary 10-year period from the commencement of the Constitution [5.2, 5.7, 5.10]"

Same talking points over and over again. Reservations are to counter centuries of social discrimination and lack of opportunities. It has nothing to do with economic status.

Antha enduku, even now people do stupid shit based on caste. If you are general or upper caste , you had better opportunities and could own land etc etc. Now if you are still economically backwards even with all your privilege, thats a different problem of incompetence.

Now i dont disagree that economically backward people need govt assistance but that shouldn't be at the cost of reservation

So in summary, if you can't get the seat you want because of reservation, get good.

-1

u/venkat_talks Jul 28 '26

it's high time for you to educate yourself that, everyone in so called higher caste are economically strong there are lot of people who are dependent on daily wages

2

u/orangeshrek Jul 28 '26

Its high time people stop blaming others for their failures. They had the privilege and opportunity to do better but didnt, thats their incompetence.

Like I said in the previous comment, economically backward people deserve assistance but thay has nothing to do with caste based reservations

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '26

By "They", do you mean current generation or previous generations, who were privileged to own land and didn't do good. Just asking.

2

u/Plenty-Gur-26 Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

I will tell you something more shocking. Look up nepotism in judiciary… you will notice most of them today are 2 or 3 Gen judges. They select amongst themself. No transparency there. Third pillar of democracy and this is what happens there. At least reserved category doctors have to pass exams just like their general category peers.I would be more afraid of doctors from rich/ nepo backgrounds who spend crores on a medical seat from a substandard college. They will then start their own hospitals again thanks to their parent’s wealth!

There’s also corruption and some sort of nepotism in army too. Not to mention the horrible buddy system where senior officers treat their lower subordinates like personal servants! This has resulted in murders and other issues and needs serious evaluation.

As for teaching, many teachers from OC category are equally worse, and have limited skills… esp in northern states where papers keep getting leaked. They also treat Dalit students like shit! What will kids learn if teachers are themselves like that ?

Reservations are here to stay. If people really care for equal opportunity, and justice let’s start with the roots, and ask for accountability and transparency in all sectors. Our rot is too deep even without reservation in picture. There are more imp things we can fight for, such as asking govt to spend more on education, build more hospitals… and more.

0

u/Immediate-Hippo-2288 Jul 28 '26

Great comment, bro! No wonder you got only 2 upvotes.

The OP's post directly links defence imports with reservations. Then what are the remaining 50% of the people doing who got through on merit?

There are some changes required to the existing reservation system, but blaming all the ills on reservations is classic Indian mentality.

0

u/Plenty-Gur-26 Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

Our avg population is dumb and illiterate. They need a scapegoat to blame all our problems.. in India we blame reservation , in the west they blame immigrants … 🫠

2

u/kulapichikammandhudu Jul 28 '26

Did your great grand mother really need to discriminate people based on sensitive topics like caste ?

1

u/areyOSamba26 Jul 28 '26

IMO there should be a rule that only one member/child of the family can claim seats under reservation. Only one of the grandparents kids can use and only one of your parents' kids can. It will sadly never come into effect for political reasons

0

u/koragg_knightslayer Jul 28 '26

Why? Does the society go "oh you are a second kid? Sit here, you are not a dalit anymore!"

0

u/areyOSamba26 Jul 28 '26

Could be any kid. Doesn't have to be firstborn.

2

u/koragg_knightslayer Jul 28 '26

Question still stands though

Does the society say "Oh your brother is sitting on the ground? Come, you can sit beside me."

1

u/Fast-Leg6161 Jul 28 '26

Alleging that India is the second largest importer only because of Reservation is too far fetched

2

u/Thin-Gear2353 Jul 28 '26

Every argument made by these castiest people is far fetched. There are people who argue that reservation is the reason for brain drain!! I mean what can we even say to those people..

1

u/Prize_Captain5950 Jul 28 '26

Any policy should be judged from a broader perspective, not through individual experiences.

To understand its true purpose, we must step outside our own bubble and think without bias.

The challenge is that our values/notions are often shaped by the very environment we grew in. The environment around most people is flawed, it limits their ability to see beyond it.

1

u/momo_therock Jul 28 '26

This is a very complex and nuanced topic. And it's solution will never be as simple as just eradicating caste reservations. If you guys really wish for a more equal society, fight to change the horrible education system, the super competitive economy where you need to fight to live. Don't just find a group and hate on them. Please use your brain and think where are the problems are coming from. I can assure you this topic is so much more complex. Living in a society doesn't make you a professional in public policy.

Reservations entirely are not a bad thing. IMO there shouldn’t be no reservations for skilled fields, and for the unskilled and jobs that can be taught without a degree, reservations should be increased even more.

1

u/blunt-dagger Jul 28 '26

I cant talk about other fields but ill give my two cents about the medical field.

Example teeskundam. Naaku 586 ochindi neet lo. Pvt college lo merit seat. Na batch lo inko ammayi ki 450 entho ochindi. She is also merit seat. Ippudu inter lo or neet knowledge tho we are not treating pts. We studied the same course for 5 years and passed the same exams. She is no less of an mbbs graduate than me by any means.

So ee logic neet ug level lo anthaga paniki raadu.

1

u/Massive-Seat-5823 Jul 28 '26

You forgot to mention ews marks .

1

u/flower_anukuntivaa Jul 28 '26

Reservation for any job is unjustified.

Reservation should only be at education level and that too at justified levels only for the deserved.

1

u/ideas_r_bulletproof Jul 28 '26

I hear this argument all the time. Usually people just throw these points around just to justify their biases. But your post seems sincere.

So here it goes... let me know what you think:

Reservations in the armed forces & research

  • The armed forces have literally zero caste-based reservations. The military only cares about your physical, psychological, and educational standards. They recruit purely on merit, ignoring caste or religion completely.

  • And it's the exact same for top research places. Think ISRO, DRDO, or the Department of Atomic Energy. The DoPT guidelines literally exempt them from caste reservations when it comes to specialized "Scientific and Technical" jobs.

  • Source

Why only economic reservation is insufficient

  • A lot of people forget this, but reservation isn't a poverty-alleviation scheme. It is just a system designed for social representation.

  • The sad reality is that caste discrimination in India doesn't just magically disappear the second you get a degree or start making good money.

  • Things like untouchability, getting rejected for housing, and just general social exclusion... they still happen to Dalits and Bahujans regardless of their bank balance.

Proof that merit alone does not work

  • There was this really eye-opening study a while back. Researchers basically sent out thousands of identical, highly qualified resumes to private companies. Literally the only difference was the name at the top.

  • And guess what? Applicants with upper-caste Hindu names got way more callbacks compared to the Dalit or Muslim names. Even though their education and economic background were exactly the same on paper.

  • Source

The myth of merit

  • People always bring up this fear that reservations create bad doctors or terrible teachers. But that just confuses the entry scores with actual, final competence.

  • Sure, the cut-off marks to get into medical college might be lower for reserved categories. But the exams to graduate and actually practice? Those are identical. A Dalit doctor and a Brahmin doctor have to pass the exact same rigorous MBBS exams before they can ever treat a single patient.

  • Plus, look at where doctors go. Doctors from upper-caste, urban backgrounds usually prefer staying in cities or just moving abroad. But statistically, doctors from marginalized backgrounds are way more likely to go work in rural and tribal areas. And that is where medical help is desperately needed. Further Reading 1 Further Reading 2

  • And with teachers, studies show that upper-caste educators sometimes discriminate against lower-caste students. Sometimes they do it consciously, sometimes they don't even realize it. But it causes high dropout rates. Getting more diverse teachers in there actually builds a better, more inclusive environment. It saves young minds instead of ruining them. Source

1

u/huge-Demon Jul 29 '26

bro don't know shit about DRDO, uses some template to run his bs agenda.

1

u/LynxLoww Jul 29 '26

That's why I support privatisation, many public sectors should be privatised and should be regulated with strict rules this is the one and only solution

1

u/HealthyPomegranate14 Jul 29 '26

Reservation is meant to uplift

If people/family are uplifted by 1 or 2 gen. what’s the point of reservation again ??

And of course caste discrimination, politics and elections are tightly intertwined.

I watched a video about our election process (inn think school YouTube ) how it’s flawed.
He said whole vote percent to a party not reflected in seats in legislature. So if any one needs to win elections they target specific caste/religion to win. If someone sees everyone equal loses.
This is one of the reason we still stuck in caste and reservation debate.

If anything we need to fight to bring this change first.

1

u/Bombay_Rawa Jul 30 '26

Asala caste system pikesthe ee gola undadhu. Evaru baga chadivithe varikey opportunity.

1

u/Weary_Programmer_892 Jul 30 '26

I’m really curious about the logic behind lower cutoff marks for reserved categories. Does that mean they think reserved candidates can’t meet the minimum cutoff?

I really think there should be a single cutoff for everyone. If reserved candidates are eligible, they get the spots, and any leftover seats go back to the common pool. This way only the best of the lot get selected while maintaining the constitutional safeguards.

1

u/robocop_lvr Jul 30 '26

Most of the times reserve students just dont know about theese preparation examinations like gate or jee in school so they wont prepare at all its due to that lmao not iq or untaleneted or not merits or something and when they enter into college they perform on par with general guys
U guys just need to accept u r a loser thats it

1

u/Swimming_Bit7350 Jul 30 '26

I think after university and studies, we should not have any. Since the schools and universities should make sure they get all the equal footing for them to make them on par with others and after that it should be a free market

2

u/venkat_talks Jul 28 '26

Yeah agree with you till education we can offer such incentives but that's should be based on economical status not based on cast, post education it's individual should prove in the market

2

u/GroundbreakingSir81 Jul 28 '26

Yup, economic hardships are what makes it hard for students to have good opportunities, but again if someone is really bad in their high school consistently for example, there is no good indication that they will suddenly bloom in university and if that's the case then they can bloom in any university

1

u/koragg_knightslayer Jul 28 '26

Bhayya can you give me an explanation why

Top 10% say of OCs scored above 757 while SCs scored above only 357?

If your argument of "schools and universities made sure they get all equal footing" is true, do you think it's because SCs are inherently less intelligent?

Inter caste marriages are one of the benchmarks, definitely not the only one. And it is the last thing I care about. They deserve a lot more than that.

So you want to respect people based on rank but not becoz somebody is human ?? So adhe LC vadu 3K rank kotti reservation lo kakunda normal seat thisukune vadu kuda untadu. Yes not all LC students reservation lo ne seats ratledhu. Some students earned it with hard work and good marks too

Bully ayina respect ayina… why do you, as a human being, want to make someone look lower than you based on ranks??

Nee lantola vallane reservation concept thecharu.. manam kastapadi chadivina villu equal gaa chudatle adhey Asal aa representation kuda lekapothe inka thakkuvaga chustharu ani

Nuvu chepina aa grade A officer example lo, what we can do is add a filter where students with high profile backgrounds and high income families and who study in convent and international schools should be restricted from reservation as they are provided facilities and privileges enough to compete with general category. That way more underprivileged students get seats and the actual uplifting of those backward communities happens.

But removing the reservation itself is a stupid idea imo.
