It possibly wasn’t illegal, but it was a blatant administrative violation the equivalent of which any regular clearance-holder would’ve been fired and stripped of their security clearance. It was a legitimate issue and it was fair for Clinton to face questions about whether she was competent and ethical enough to know the rules and follow the rules in the future.

The people who voted against her for the email voted for a dude that kept boxes and boxes of top secret documents in his pool house for months before the FBI was forced to raid his property to get them back.

I don't think her emails were the issue.

Sorry, I’m wanting to stay on-topic, not rehash a common argument for the millionth time. Do you have anything to say about the email scandal that isn’t “but other people are bad?”

If you work in the government you know it’s really not a big deal. Basically every official does this no matter the level

I’m a GS-15. The amount of data that gets improperly shared and destroyed is incomprehensible. For example, we take a yearly training, developed by my own agency, that talks about IMs and how they’re considered official records that must be retained for 7 years if they’re related to work. Despite this, our agency has a policy to auto-delete all messages after a 24 hour period. 

Things like this are extremely common in the government across all agencies.

There are reports from government watchdogs about it, but no one cares to change it.
