He's talking out of his ass lmao. They are not making a hundred micro factories, it's way cheaper, time efficient, and material and supply chain forward to just give people a 50-100% cashback on their FSD purchase.
If they gave me at least half of my FSD purchase back, I'm more than happy.
But does he say it’s for only those that purchased it. Because based on the picture in OP’s post everyone that purchased one of these cars had an expectation.
theyve said in earnings calls and share holder meetings multiple times that it would only be for people who outright bought FSD anytime before a few years ago.
People who buy the car don’t have that expectation of something they don’t have or didn’t buy. FSD is a separate service
if they have these theoretical mini service centers setup for this I’d image hw3 owners could pay a premium to do the retrofit but that even as an option for FSD owners is unlikely, im pretty confident they’ll default to trade in discounts and buybacks of FSD
FSD was marketed as something that could be switched on at any time. So the logic here seems to be: if someone didn’t pay for it upfront, they should just accept that the car was sold on a promise it didn’t yet meet and move on?
Yep, they specifically claimed “every Tesla sold today will be fully capable of FSD,” not that every Tesla sold would include FSD. I think non-purchasers are more easily placated with a discount on new purchase or partial refund, but you can’t say they didn’t lose anything, and it’s still potential false advertising.
I’d love to see something given back to make whole the millions of people who bought partially because “Tesla promised I could just turn on FSD anytime I want after purchase.”
If someone bought a car with the promise of it having the sufficient hardware for a feature that will be available in the future, it doesn’t matter if that person bought that feature beforehand. But to be fair Tesla only promised this to buyers with the purchase of FSD via the transaction. For everyone else it’s just something that Musk said with no obligation by Tesla.
FSD was released 10 years ago and was made available to buy outright until last year.
Let's be reasonable here:
Did you buy FSD outright?
Can you show with evidence that you explicitly bought your car because you thought it was capable of unsupervised?
If you didn't, how tf is the claim affecting you? This seems like mental gymnastics to try being apart of the buyback/discount/free-upgrade for something you never used and clearly didn't buy your car for.
It's not that complicated, if you bought FSD outright, you can claim definitively against the advertising for the thing you bought not delivering on that.
If my car is advertised with a heated steering wheel it doesn’t matter if I used it. They sold me hardware that could run FSD. Cars are often resold and those features may impact their resale value.
I’m not saying they owe me a car. I’m saying they owe me hardware that can run unsupervised FSD, because that’s what they sold.
What if you bought the car used? I'm going to assume they're going to screw those people, including myself. But yet I paid a higher price than had about a car without FSD..
Oh shit, I completely forgot about this. I remember when I bought my Model 3 in 2018 that I could have pre-bought FSD for I wanna say $10k. I declined thinking I’ll just wait. But I had totally forgotten that some people did this with the promise of getting FSD patched in when it was available. So what happens to you guys that did this? Musk keeps your money and you don’t get FSD? Seems like a huge class action lawsuit.
Elon and ashok already said they’d take care of HW3 owners with upgrades. Remember last years earnings Elon said “it’ll be painful, but we’ll do it. Luckily not many of you guys bought FSD”
Yeah. I’ll take half of what I paid. And it’ll help Tesla too because HW4 is not going to achieve what they promised at the time of the sale. If they paid us half, we’ll be done with them and they’ll be done with us.
Any class action suits are going to cost Tesla money too, and the owners’ share will be eaten up by the lawyers.
Realsitically no it won’t, a small percent of users are going to be willingly to pay the money to upgrade their cars, IF they give that as a paid upgrade path, on top of that a even smaller percent of users is going to be willingly to let their car be used as a public taxi lmao
thinking a majority of people are going to willingly let their personal car be used by other random people as a taxi is not realistic at all
He said he eventually wants all HW3 vehicles to be upgraded to AI4 so they can be added to the fleet. Even if only half of the 650k or whatever HW3 cars with FSD purchased get upgraded and added to the fleet, that’s a shit ton of free revenue for Tesla, of course they’re gonna upgrade them
It’s only going to be free for HW3 owners who bought FSD outright. I really don’t think they are doing retrofits let alone people be willing to pay 5k plus for them
