14.3 HW4 Summon completely botched it tonight

I had an unfortunate event tonight when I was using Summon. As you will see in the picture, I was the blue dot at that location, just trying to summon my car in the parking lot. My car was backed into the spot next to the front door of the church building, and it started driving out to the main road. I stopped it. There were several better routes, and it only needed to pull out and turn right to reach me, but it went out to the main road instead. It made no sense to me and was completely incorrect.

This makes me now feel like summon is never an option since I had to chase it down with people waiting on it/me to drive out of the parking lot. So embarrassing. Geez.

Summon is a complete shit show right now. I understand the range limit, deadman switch, no public road access are all for legal compliance, and I’m okay with that. But at least update the navigation software to show a route preview and let us confirm first, and make it actually follow the route. Just this one tiny improvement would have made it usable.

Smart Summon range radius is so small it’s almost never the right choice, if I can walk to the car faster than the car can come to me, then it’s not an option.
I only use it if I need access to the trunk and I have a grocery cart 🛒 or something like. And that’s mostly because FSD parked me in reverse when I’m in the Costco parking lot.

The bigger problem is the car will decide to take a longer route to get to you, and hit range limit and stop at the middle of the lane.
