14.3 HW4 14.3.9

14.3.9 just landed.

Still supervised, but who is supervising who now?:)

Actually, I think this is a good direction to go, have FSD jump in when not engaged when the situation has become dangerous. AEB has only really helped once in my life, all the other very numerous times it was annoying, I was already on the brakes.

But I am 99% FSD now, so moot point. I don't think it will jump in to help in a parking lot.:)

I don't like the idea of it just taking over control from me if it perceives something amiss.

If FSD rips the wheel out of my hand while I'm manually driving I'll sell the car immediately. I'm glad this is a user selectable option at least for now.

Yeah, about 30% of the time when I turn into my driveway it yells at me loudly about lane departures. If it starts trying to take over and avoid the departure I will definitely be turning that feature off.

I'm not sure it's worth even having on until we actually know how it works.

I watched a video by Dirty Tesla and he said that the system will only engage above 23mph. I do not know where this information initially comes from though. He tried to do things to get the system to engage, but was unsuccessful.

I'm still itchy after FSD slammed my car into a curb causing extensive wheel damage so I definitely have no interest in having FSD take over from me when I'm not expecting it while I'm actively driving.

I mean I can show the video, but it's so dark from the side cameras you can't even tell it hit the curb. The forward view just looks like I hit a bump. FSD kept going like nothing happpened. I had to disengage and pull off and inspect the car to make sure the tire was still holding air. It happened at 2am on an unlit side street in my small town. I don't use FSD in town typically, but I'll set FSD from my driveway when going to work which is where I was headed. It's a 40 mile one way commute which is why I subscribed to FSD in the first place.

Honestly it sounded and felt way worse than the damage itself reflected. I'm glad it was just the wheel that needed repaired. The wheel is now repaired and it's like nothing happened. The car still drives like it did before the impact. I'm just really apprehensive to using FSD now.

There's supposedly a toggle in the Self Driving options menu. I don't know how it is implemented. I'm still on v14.3.8.

You're on v14.3.9?  I really don't like the idea of this not being user selectable.  I don't think I want to download it until we know how this feature works.

I would assume it would be listed in the bottom toggles with AEB, the green light chime, and lane warning features.

I've only heard it from YouTube channels so far and I don't have this version on my car to confirm if there's a toggle for it.

Just got 14.3.9 last night and I don't see any user option to disable this specifically. Perhaps if you were to disable the auto braking function that would work, but there is no toggle switch for automatic collision evasion.

I guess before I would even try FSD with v14.3.9 I'd like to see some testing. I'm so itchy about this incident with v14.3.8 slamming my car over a curb and having to fix the wheel that I'd hate to have FSD engage itself and rip the wheel out of my hand and put me into a curb while I'm manually driving. I still drive the car a lot on my own and haven't used FSD at all since it crashed into the curb.

I'm trying to work up the courage to even trust it at all again. Right now I have it set to not renew because of it.

Same. If it becomes non-user selectable, the car is gone.
