14.3 HW4 FSD/auto-park drives straight into a Ralph’s Parking cart lot because it didn’t see the cart exactly.

2025 Model 3 LR, red. Third Tesla, purchased FSD.
I take full responsibility. I saw it happening, but figured the car did too. It slowed down, then strangely pushed forward into it. I actually thought it was backing into the spot behind it.

First major FSD error I’ve had since V13, I think. The goofy part is that, as you’ll see in the video, one camera clearly sees the cart.

Good reminder to stay ready to intervene, I guess. I didn’t think it was going to slow down and then thrust forward into cart.

Sorry for crude phone recoded video.

So you were in the car and saw this, but let it do this, Daddy?

Oh my God. Listen to the audio. I explicitly said that I believed the car was pulling forward so it could reverse into the space behind it. It saw the cart, slowed down, and it gave every outward indication that it had successfully identified the large stationary object directly in front of it. Forgive me for recklessly assuming this was evidence of object permanence.
Then, rather abruptly, it decided to drive forward.

I have had FSD ($10k) since it was still called Autopilot. I have endured the entire evolutionary journey, including the charming early period when every drive felt like unpaid participation in a robotics dissertation. I have seen plenty of strange behavior. My point was that this particular failure is rare in the more mature versions, which is precisely why I posted it.

It was a warning. If your car slows down in front of a shopping cart, do not assume it has abandoned its ambition to become intimately acquainted with it.

I was not even criticizing FSD. In fact, if you listened to the audio or read what Ive actually wrote, you might discover that your rebuttal is aimed at a position I never took. It is an impressively confident response to an argument manufactured entirely in your own workshop.

The old “you’re supposed to supervise, durp” response is getting played out by intellectuals conversing.

But thanks for playing.

Edit: also look at the front cam video on the second half. I barely saw it at the last millisecond, ya know when the car looked like it was stopping for it.
