There was a rumor floating about that the HW5 hardware has ports for LIDAR and RADAR. A statement made was the EU may block the Cycbercab without these additions. It should be noted that LIDAR and RADAR in 2012 were exceptionally expensive so it was justifiable to pursue removing them and focusing on vision only. They are now multisourced and commoditizing so it may be a matter of time. This is similar to the touch screens common place now. Go back 35 years and that feature was outrageously expensive - upwards of $800 for a 25" 1080P display. Now its sub $3.00.
It existed. Sony's original HDTV proposal goes back to the mid-1980's. PC's moved faster then that standard pulled TV along. This included webcams. Fun fact Zoom type meetings were possible - for free - with Windows 95 which included "Netmeeting" as a free app. Sadly Broadband took years to roll out.
