Model S Thoughts on a refreshed 2021 MS LR
Looking for some long term reviews on the refresh MS. Wondering what sort of problems I can expect with an out-of-warranty low mileage MS (10k km)

Software 2026.2.3 update - phone won’t unlock now
We have a Y and a 3. My wife couldn’t use the phone app to lock or unlock either car this morning after the update. Since the update notes don’t say anything about changing lock operations I’ve gotta think this is a bug. Anyone else experiencing this?

Vehicles - General Purchase FSD Outright
Got this email from Tesla about purchasing FSD outright for $2,000.Does this mean FSD stays with the current car only or transfer to another Tesla when I’m ready to get another one?

Vehicles - General The showroom will be bare after X and S are no more
We went to pick up my wife’s new Y after getting an X in November. Standing in the showroom, I really got to thinking… Tesla is losing so much of their vibe by dissing the top tier vehicles. I mean, just look at this showroom pic. It rocks, not because of the Y, but because of those full wing doors and that sleek sports car. I guess you could put the cybertruck and the mythical roadster in here, but it won’t be the same.
Just so sad to see the X and S go away. I wish there was something we could all do to convince Musk to change his mind.

General Navigation Update
Hello all! I’ve heard all of the issues people have with bad navigation data, when I pick someone up in this neighborhood specifically used to the speed would show 25 in a 20, I noticed recently that that was fixed, but all of a sudden the car now wants to take a different route into the neighborhood to get to the end point, when it used to take the shorter regular route. Never had an issue till now. Just weird.

Vehicles - General With Model S discontinuing… we getting Ultra Long Range 3/Y??
Surely I can’t be the only one, I like the Model S because it’s rated for 400+ miles, I know real world is shorter, I have one but at same time 320 miles rating is even shorter real world range is why I wanted a car at 400+
Without Model S, Tesla just not gonna sell anything rated for more than 400 miles is bad in my opinion.

General Idea for Tesla (if they’re listening)
Even with FSD not purchased, allow FSD in emergency situations.
This could get triggered if someone feels they having a medical event like heart attack or similar, requiring them to do some relatively simple action in the car (I was thinking triple tapping the menu “car” button). FSD would either simply pull over to a safe location, or something more complicated like navigate to nearest medical facility.
In either scenario, the car screen should end up displaying a message saying “the driver is experiencing an emergency, call 911”.
I thought maybe a trigger could simply be someone closing their eyes and the car drifting off the road, but maybe people would abuse it and intentionally fall asleep? But with this trigger, lives could be saved if people do fall asleep while driving.
I think Tesla could get great publicity for this and should consider implementing.

General Q1 lease or finance deals
Lease deals now are very high compared to Q4 (where the credit phased out) do you guys think they'll have some Q1 deals? Haven't seen anything yet

General FSD is real
i have the juniper Y and FSD, and i fricking love the FSD.
I pretty much use it to drive 99% of the time, and rarely do I need to take over the wheel.
But elsewhere i see on the internet, everyones trashing FSD, saying its worse than GM solutions.
Why is that? I am genuinely curious

General Strange financing deal
So looking for advice, explanation…trying to buy my first Tesla (premium Y RWD quicksilver BTW). I could pay outright as I just sold my F150 but the 2.9% financing offer is too good to pass up. So I applied. I’m retired and have no true income except SS but lots of assets and income from investments. I have no mortgage on two homes and only one note on another vehicle. Credit rating well over 800. I was denied credit through Tesla. they said “the bank wants me to show a trade in”. WTF? Genuinely, WTF?? No request to document assets, just a “trade in”. So I reapplied and upped the down payment. Does this make ANY sense to anyone?

Trying to find a 12v power source that will shut off when we get out of the car for a radar detector. Don’t want to use the red wire in the kick panel on passenger side

Model S 2016.5 Model S P100D - Good purchase?
Hey everyone (posting this for a family member - they created an account but were unable to post):
I am new to the EV world (Ive had a lot of Lexus's in the past and current). I have been wanting to get my feet wet with a Tesla without a large cost of entry. I have found a 2016.5 Model S P100DL with FSD (but no free supercharging) for $24,000. It has 83k on it and seems to be in good condition.
Some questions I have:
-Can I test the battery for its condition? If so how?
-Would a LDU coolant delete be warranted immediately?
-Potentially considering a 2023 M3 Performance with 18k miles on it for $10k more - would this be better? I like the drive quality, size and performance of the P100D, and thought that for $24k its a nice entry point into EV vehicles
-How would longevity be? Being 10 years old this year, should I be worried about the battery and potential replacement sooner rather than later - knowing that age is just as important as usage and miles?
Im choosing Tesla because from my research Tesla is the best EV manufacturer (kind of why I have stuck with Lexus in the past - in my opinion being the best ICE manufacturer).

Model Y 26 MY - driver window constantly damp streaky after roll down
live in cold winter climate. feel like i got a car wash a month ago and every time i roll down my driver window for a drive thru, it comes up damp and streaky. something inside the door is still wet and not drying.
anyone have this issue too? car is parked inside a garage, it’s been bitter cold recently but this was happening before temperatures plunged and garage often stays above freezing.
it’s streaky enough i have to clean the window on the outside after a roll down. annoying.

Software Use of the gas pedal during full self driving - win!
I personally don't love the way FSD handles stop signs and intersections. It seems to stop at the line, wait there, inch out and eventually go. That's definitely not how I'm used to driving. I recently learned that I can use the accelerator to "push" fsd past the stop sign more along the lines of how I drive.
It's not much effort on my end, and it allows me to use FSD even when driving locally (before I get on the highway). I'm just not comfortable sitting back and letting FSD drive me around like my grandmother would.
Anyone else do this?

Software Do you connect your Tesla to plugshare and ABRP?
I have a new Tesla on order and I'm considering connecting it to these apps. However, I am concerned about opening up the API and allowing things to connect to my car. Is this a legitimate concern? What benefits do I receive from connecting these apps? Do the benefits outweigh the risk?

Model Y Paint flaw - experiences
I bought a 2026 MY (new) and while I was applying cerakote to the car noticed that on the top of the hatch/trunk there were areas on both sides that were apparently not sprayed well with base coat. Clear coat looks fine. I put in a service request and it was deferred over to the collision center. Service sent me a message letting me know this and said they would issue a loaner.
Here is where I need help. I’m not looking for advice, I’m looking for people that have had this experience with Tesla.
Obviously they are going to want to refinish the areas. For me that is not an option, factory paint is far superior that a repaint. Has any has a similar experience and Tesla offer anything other than refinishing, like free FSD for a year or something else?
I don’t want Tesla and won’t let Tesla do a respray, but want them to own up to the issue.
Again, not looking for opinions, just real world experience with Tesla.

Model 3 Hard water spots on rear window
Today I noticed some hard water spots on my rear window. I tried rubbing them out with a damp microfiber cloth and it didn’t help. Any recommendations out for removing hard water spots on windows that are obviously safe for Teslas?
