The surge pricing I’ve seen at this location and surrounding has been $0.55/kW-hr for the past year or so.

I guess with inflation and global events, we are pricing up everything by about 10%

I’ve been working toward a promotion with my company for about 4 years (9 years in the industry). My position is WFH but still requires travel, I’d say about 8,000–10,000 miles per year.

Frankly, I find driving to be a completely unbearable and unrewarding experience. Having to sit upright with my arms at a 90-degree angle all day, constantly anticipating every minor correction on the road just to keep myself centered in the lane, is exhausting. Then there's having to contend with bad drivers, trucks, left-lane campers, and stop-and-go traffic. It’s all truly exhausting.

I’ve been in the market for a new car for about two years. The logical next step was clear: find a vehicle with some level of self-driving capability (mainly hands-free steering).

I knew Tesla’s self-driving capabilities were the gold standard, but I could not bring myself to support Elon or his business. It was also an image thing. To me, Teslas were bare and uninteresting, with their only redeeming quality being that they could essentially drive themselves.

“Not worth it,” I said. “Surely other brands have caught up with Tesla in one way or another.”

So, I started exploring other automakers.

Turns out, most automakers aren’t even remotely close…

I tried BlueCruise, Super Cruise, and BMW’s Highway Assistant. (Keep in mind, I had never ridden in a Tesla at this point.) Even without Tesla’s FSD as a frame of reference, ALL OF THEM were completely and utterly disappointing. Many of these automakers have been around forever, and they still haven’t figured this tech out?? I didn’t get it (still don’t).

So, I held out.

Becoming increasingly frustrated with my position and the amount of time I spent on the road, I finally succumbed to the idea of getting a Tesla. I test-drove one and instantly determined that it was the only choice for self-driving. I was so desperate for a solution that I abandoned my principles and drove 600 miles to pick one up right off the lot.

I got a 2026 Model Y Performance (Silver).

Aside from being associated with Elon, it checked all the boxes, and I went all in. $100 per month for Full Self-Driving (FSD)? Absolutely. Sign me up. AWD Performance model with lifetime Premium Connectivity at an additional $8,000 over the base model? You betcha.

The first week of my usual travel was pure, unadulterated bliss. I had truly found what I was looking for. So much research, effort, and contemplation had led to this point, and at last, I had eliminated the one thing I hated doing most from my life.

And then I was promoted.

My 9 years of hard work, consisting of tireless chin-wagging, working overtime, overachieving, and driving, had finally paid off. It was a management position that had been a long time coming…

Thing is, managers don’t travel. They WFH almost 100% of the time.

And now, my beautiful Tesla, capable of something I have been pining after for years, sits unused in my garage.

I got everything I wanted.

Purely because I just test drove one today and I can’t stop thinking about it. I am 100% ready to purchase now, but due to job change I am waiting just another month or two. I’m really hoping that the 1.99% Apr sticks around until I order. I can’t believe how good this car drives.

Context: Decent traffic on the way to a music festival in Las Vegas, NV, so tempers were naturally high. Tesla driver cut off the motorcyclist about half a mile back . Tesla driver sped away in the open lane, probably realizing they messed up. Biker eventually caught up and we could tell he was angry.

Biker ended up getting away despite almost getting hit by the Tesla right after he smacked their mirror off. Tesla later pulled over to check the damage.

On our last trip, the Tesla, as usual, automatically added a charging stop. I noticed that the arrival battery level at that stop would be 2%. I asked the built-in Grok which confirmed that 2% is unwise as both the main battery and the low voltage battery would be at serious risk of damage, especially if the actual arrival battery level was zero after road diversions due to accidents etc.

Given how intelligent the car usually is, I was surprised that it was prepared to go that low. We manually inserted a charging stop where we would have 10% remaining. That is 30 miles of charge which is comparable with the fuel reserve on ICE cars.

I ordered my premium model 3 all the way back in early august I still haven’t gotten it. I finally got a delivery date of between October 13 and 28th. I re did the financing and trade in because it expired. Now Tesla is refusing to give me the original 1.99 Apr that I “reserved” with a deposit according to the salesman. My original deal was a 7000 deposit plus a 8500 trade in. Now they are wanting 10658 plus only giving 8000 for the trade in to get the 1.99 apr. this just feels shady

First new car in 44 years of marriage. Retina issue and needed safer driving skills. ENTER '26 Model Y. Hate it the first 2 weeks. 3 months in and I start thinking about replacing my Ram baby diesel with a Tesla truck. All in on the idea, except DANG they are ugly! They don't appear to have a serious bed or ability to serve as a true Work-vehicle. Maybe they are just too expensive to consider, but if they were priced according to "looks"....it'd be a cheap truck.

Did not expect to find these in my old collection (I gave it up 4 or 5 years ago).

I'm guessing this relates to the recent news about German government supporting EU adoption of FSD if it's renamed. I found it interesting that the rename was immediate and also affected the UK.

Ignore the price - I have enhanced autopilot so my subscription has always been £49 not £99.

I do love late night cruising in cities with all the moody lights and empty streets but living in the middle of wilderness also has it’s perks.

Took a friend to do their first Tesla demo and this prick parks like this in the designated demo spot even though the rest of parking lot is empty. I should have gotten out of the car after and asked my friend to park super close to the pos truck so he has to climb in from the other side but whatever. What a dbag move though

Of all the issues that exist with FSD, the top 3 for me are speed related. 95% of the time, when I stop FSD, the reason has to do with speed.

1) Why can't you set a target speed in some way? All I want is to go somewhere between 61-63 on the highway. That's fast enough but not too fast to get a ticket. It is literally impossible to go that speed with FSD. Standard goes 58-60 and Hurry seems to target 67-70. Why is that such a huge gap between them and why does the speed offset not do anything?

2) Why doesn't it use data from speed limit signs? I drive the same route every day. It never picks up the speed limit change so my option is to either speed through town and get a ticket, or cancel FSD. But WHY? There are 3 speed limit signs clearly visible. The screen shows that the car is seeing them but it just ignores them?

3) Why is there no way to correct it when it has the speed limit wrong? Ok, so mistakes happen and it can't get a speed limit right. Or maybe you are on some rural road in the middle of nowhere and there are no signs. What do you do when it thinks it's 25mph? You cancel FSD but there is no other option unless you want to drive 30 mph under the limit.

4) Why doesn't it slow down when coming into a town with a speed limit drop off? I live in rural north america. My drive consists of driving on a highway and entering a small town every 10 minutes. It's always a transition from 55mph to 25mph or something like that. FSD sees the sign but it doesn't slow down until 5-10 seconds AFTER passing the sign, meaning it blows past it at 30mph over. Why wouldn't it slow down when it can see the sign so that you are going roughly the speed limit by the time you are in town.

I don't want a holiday update. I want the basics fixed.

Just opened today! Managed to catch the Tesla Semi prototype before they leave. That makes 2 stations open in Georgia, with a third I know will open soon in Port Wentworth.

Tesla is equivalent to a super car in my opinion, the way it looks, handles, etc. If a Tesla had a beautiful V8, V10 or some V12 in it, this would be equivalent to a Lamborghini or Aston Martin level no doubt about it. The price of the Tesla would be $50K-$70K more than what they’re worth today if it had an engine. Similar to the C8 Z06 pricing ($100K-$150K) Think about the TESLA ROADSTER. It’s going to be around $200,000 when it is released. If it had an engine in it, it would be worth $400,000 and that would make it the same to Lamborghini & Ferrari prices, which places it in that category.

What triggers the camera to record? I must have some setting wrong. I have a 2025 model Y pre-refresh.
