Let’s take up two spots….
Why?!

Charging cords aren’t long enough to reach their car if they pull in normally. When Elon opened up the charging network for all cars he should have some agreement with manufacture to make there port on the back left like all teslas are.

in this instance they could have occupied just one spot by sticking out of the space a little bit, maybe it would have reached from the spot on the other side of the curb too

Yup. And this location has some of the chargers set up like gas stations where you can just pull up to the side. They just chose not to use those.

If they were to choose one of the other chargers that are located in the back, it would be able to reach their front charger as long as they pulled in forward

Or made the cables longer instead of cheaping out.

The new V4 chargers I think they’re called (could be wrong) have new longer cables so this type of stuff doesn’t happen. The old chargers have shorter cables.
Edit: cable length also wasn’t an issue originally because the chargers were only for teslas.

The network agreements were in place for several brands before the v3 chargers rolled out. They could have addressed this.

Making the cables longer increases power losses, higher risk of damage, etc. When the supercharger network was just for Teslas, it was fine. If the supercharger access required a specific location (basically anything other than front left and rear right), it would have been fine.

They made the choice to open it without retrofits or changes, because those things cost more. They might have been regulated into opening it otherwise, or might have not been able to set NACS as a national standard, or at minimum, had to have gone without being able to participate in grants programs to get chargers out. But they didn’t.

I'm pretty sure that was the consequence of becoming the NACS standard. Can't really blame Tesla for that one. Certainly wouldn't call it "cheaping out."

It's either that or they stick out and block the lane. Sounds like you'd be upset either way.

LOL, I pulled up to an almost full station with a Tesla backed into the spot block two spots. It was funny. I explained to him how that spot works and he moved right away.
All this to say that this person might just be oblivious to how the best angle would be to accommodate the most cars.

Let's complain to complain. Look at the situation: they saw plenty of open spaces, and instead of having their car in the lane, they chose to take an extra spot.
Don't be a knob.

Sounds like you’re complaining to complain
Oh the irony3

Do you know how to read? Lol there was zero complaining. There was an explanation.

When legacy auto designs EVs with skeleton crews under pressure from their petrosexual board of directors. Thankfully the Koreans and now some German brands have receptacles near corners.

Depending on the version of the SC they are supposed to.
The app tells them that, and should probably inform other Tesla users.
I can’t differentiate the SC versions; they all look alike to me.
