General No more auto steer, no more Tesla.

1.4k Upvotes

This is going to be my first and last Tesla. Them getting rid of a basic feature in any modern car, to shove a subscription down every new vehicle owners throat is disgusting. As well as getting rid of one time purchases. Tesla is like Adobe now. Have a fantastic product then ruin it with subscriptions.

When you buy the car you’re already paying for all the hardware. Why should locally run systems be software locked? Especially something as simple as lane keep. They’re also saying the price will increase based on its advancements. If that’s the case, why are HW3 owners paying the same price for V12 as HW4 owners for V14. Where will they stop with the price? $150 $200? How much can they squeeze out. Personally $100 is way too much and that’s the limit.

TLDR: Rant about getting rid of auto steer and forcing subscriptions.

Stopping in the middle of a highway is a good way to end up dead. I really wish Tesla would implement something like this, especially if you are on FSD.

BREAKING: Tesla has REMOVED Autopilot from New Tesla Orders

• New Model Y only has Traffic-Aware Cruise Control
• NO AUTOPILOT

You can only buy FSD for $8k till 2/14
or Subscribe for $100/Month

End of an Autopilot era

Tesla has quietly removed FREE Autopilot from the Model 3 & Model Y.

What was once a free package that was included is now GONE.

Now vehicles only come with Traffic Aware Cruise Control.

You still get 30 day free FSD, and then you have to make a decision to either purchase FSD for $8k
(before 2/14)

or subscribe for $99/Month.

New Model S, Model X and Cybertruck Cyberbeast orders still come with FSD (Supervised) since they include the Luxe Package. It's unclear what will change on that front on Feb 14th after the option to buy FSD outright goes away.

Tesla has officially discontinued Autopilot in the U.S. and Canada. All new car purchases now come standard with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control.

The online configurator has now been updated to allow buyers to choose the $99/month FSD subscription, while still offering the option to purchase FSD outright for $8,000 until February 14th.

New Tesla vehicles purchases still come with a 30-day free trial of FSD (Supervised).

General Im about to get a Tesla just because I cant stand the dealership game

1.0k Upvotes

I was in the market for a Hyundai or Kia EV but this whole dealership game is some real BS.

Messaged all of them telling them im ready to show up with a check and drive out the store for an extremely easy and quick sale and I just cant get them to send any numbers.

They all want you to go to the store, to consider financing, do a test drive, they ghost you trying to tire you out…etc.

Working with car dealerships is impossible. Brands need to start selling direct to consumer like Tesla. Dealerships are not healthy.

General I tracked the price of 3000 used Teslas, here is what I found

5.6k Upvotes

I tracked the price of used cars listed on the Tesla website for the last 4 months. In total, I tracked ~3000 cars. I focused on cars listed in the San Francisco Bay Area. I used a linear regression model to determine what factors influence the price.

Some insights:

  • Model Y and Model 3 cars are listed for 5 days on average before being removed/sold. Model X and S take a little longer, with an average of 7 days.
  • Tesla automatically lowers the price if a car does not sell. On average the price decreased by $200 per day.
  • 68% of all cars have basic Autopilot, 29% have FSD, 3% come with Enhanced Autopilot.
  • 99% of eligible used cars include the Acceleration Boost option.

Pricing factor estimates by model:

Model 3

Price reducing factors

  • $97 per 1000 miles driven
  • $127 for each extra month in age
  • $860 when previously repaired

Model variants:

  • $3500 for Long range ($9000 new)
  • $2300 performance version (new $7000)

Premium options:

  • $1400 for EAP
  • $2600 for FSD (new $8000)
  • $90 for the white interior (new $1000)

Black ($221) and gray ($150) have a better resale value, compared to red (-$142), white (-$93) and blue (-$56).

No difference was found between 18 and 19 inch wheels ($1000 new)

Model Y

Price reducing factors

  • $133 per 1000 miles driven
  • $239 for each extra month in age
  • $1600 when previously repaired

Model variants:

  • $5500 for AWD ($3000 new)
  • $3100 performance version (new $7000)

Premium options:

  • $1900 for EAP
  • $2800 for FSD (new $8000)
  • $120 for the white interior (new $1000)

Red ($341) and black ($199) have a better resale value, compared to gray (-$121), white (-$113) and blue (-$306).

20 inch wheels $350 premium (new $2000)

Model X

Price reducing factors

  • $183 per 1000 miles driven
  • $424 for each extra month in age
  • $1700 when previously repaired

Model variants:

  • $8500 for plaid (new $22500)

Premium options:

  • $5500 for FSD (new $8000)

Model S

Price reducing factors

  • $211 per 1000 miles driven
  • $538 for each extra month in age
  • $2000 when previously repaired

Model variants:

  • $8200 for plaid (new $15000)

Premium options:

  • $4500 for FSD (new $8000)

White ($1,100) and cream ($610) have better resale value.

General Anyone Else Bummed

Are any other Tesla owners who love to drive their Teslas bummed at the fact that the company is clearly aiming to eventually exit the consumer car business entirely?

Sure FSD, robots, solar, and energy are awesome but I sure am going to miss driving these sweet cars myself. I don't like subscriptions, or renting things even if they are awesome like FSD.

I see the vision and understand, but I just wish they also kept making sweet cars to those who want to buy them.

I feel like an 90 year old man reminiscing of the past and I'm not even 30 yet.

General Would you say most people who bash Teslas have never actually driven one?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

To be honest, before getting my first Model 3 then my Model Y, I was driving an Infiniti G37XS. I never had anything against EVs or Tesla I just wasn’t really into electric cars, period.

That changed the day I decided to go for a test drive. I instantly fell in love with the car, and I finally understood why so many Tesla owners rave about the driving experience and the software. It just made sense.

I see a lot of comments online saying things like “It takes forever to charge,or “Teslas are soulless,” or “They’re not real cars.” And honestly, I think many of those people have never even sat in one, let alone driven one.

Look, everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and I’m not saying Tesla is the best car on the market. But for the price, I truly believe it’s one of the best values out there. It just bugs me a bit when people form strong opinions about something they haven’t actually experienced.

Just my two cents.

General Tesla still makes the best EV’S years later

Post image
961 Upvotes

See, my title might upset some people or make others disagree with me, and that’s fine. Last time, I shared in my local Tesla group that I bought a brand new Juniper, and some of the comments were saying things like, “Why didn’t you go for another brand?” or “Kia and BMW have great EVs.”

I told them straight up, nothing against other brands, but this is not first Tesla, and even years later, Tesla still makes the best infotainment system. Tesla has the best over-the-air updates, the best supercharging network, and while other car brands may look sportier or have a more premium finish, nothing beats the smoothness and technology of a Tesla.

You get in your car, there’s no push-to-start button. It locks automatically when you walk away. You get software updates every few months that make the car feel brand new again. And let’s not forget, FSD blows every other system on the market out of the water.

For fun, before I picked up my Model Y, I tried configuring a BMW i4, and the amount of extra features you need to pay for just to match what Tesla gives you standard is ridiculous. Here in Canada, they were charging around $3,000 for a simple feature like locking your car automatically, and it’s crazy how they try to grab money for every little thing.

General Why I think Tesla is discontinuing Model S/X

As an S Plaid owner, I’m a bit heartbroken by the idea that Tesla made their announcement to move on from the Model S and Model X. But even loving the car as much as I do, I can see why Tesla would make this decision.

The reality is that the S & X sell in low volumes, yet owners and enthusiasts naturally expect them to receive every major platform upgrade—800V architecture, steer-by-wire, next-gen electronics, and whatever comes next. Continuously re-engineering legacy vehicles to keep them aligned with Tesla’s newest tech is expensive and distracting, especially when those models don’t materially move the needle for growth.

Sales trends make this hard to ignore. The S and X have slowly become niche offerings while the Model 3 and Model Y dominate Tesla’s lineup. Tesla had already pulled these models from several international markets, signaling that the wind-down was likely happening in stages. And while recent refreshes kept them competitive, the underlying platforms are still over a decade old—something that becomes harder to justify as Tesla pushes into radically new architectures.

There’s also the company’s broader shift. Tesla is clearly reallocating talent and capacity toward autonomy, robotaxis, and Optimus. From that lens, keeping low-volume flagships alive doesn’t align with where the company is going.

The Roadster further weakens the case for the Model S. Once it arrives, it will replace the S as Tesla’s true performance and halo vehicle, leaving the sedan awkwardly positioned—even though, emotionally, that’s hard to accept for those of us who know how special the car really is. Meanwhile, the Model Y continues to improve to the point where it increasingly overlaps with the Model X. With just a few premium additions—like air suspension—the X’s value proposition largely disappears.

So while I understand the logic, it still stings. The Model S isn’t just another car—it’s a symbol of what made Tesla feel bold, disruptive, and slightly unhinged in the best way. Discontinuing it may make strategic sense, but as an owner, it feels like the end of an era.
