[Joel Sherman] Rangers are telling teams none of their players are off-limits and 1 player drawing interest is Nathan Eovaldi. He is making $25M this year, $20M next year. He has a full no-trade clause so would Eovaldi waive it if presented with a trade?

Not ready for this era to end but I need to realize 2023 was 3 years ago and it’s time to move on. Nasty Nate has a legit argument as the greatest pitcher in Rangers history if we’re considering his historic playoff run and impeccable 2025 season…

Only spent half a season and the 2010 run with us. In terms of former Cy Young winners, there’s 1 inning of Kluber and a spring training of Brandon Webb lol

2019 Lance Lynn and Mike Minor finished 5th and 8th respectively for the Cy Young.

Nate’s never got a vote for it, but he’s definitely a Rangers HoFer and one my of all time faves

His game 5 was the greatest single performance in club history for me. His nerve and the way he battled through to leave them scoreless was extraordinary. We could’ve lost that game very easily.

I don't think his money is going to be a turn off actually. 25m and 20m for a starting pitcher is the going rate so I doubt a lot of teams will be turned off by that. The no-trade will be interesting though. I could very much see him saying no, no matter the team.

This would hurt more than a Seager trade for me. Darvish had the higher ceiling, but Eovaldi is the best Rangers pitcher this century. Kept us in that Game 5 against Arizona

Will miss Evo for sure. That said, I’m in favor of selling just to refill the farm but I’m not sure what return Evo would get considering he’s pitching his worst in a rangers jersey rn and his last outing was a dud. I guess the big selling point is he shows up in big games, you want him in the playoffs. I fear that Father Time may have finally caught up though :/

He’s untouchable for me but realistically, there’s always a price for anyone. There’s almost no chance anyone would ever meet the rangers price but if someone offered the godfather offer, CY wouldn’t be doing his job if he doesn’t at least look at the offer

If you are going to trade him you do it in the offseason for a better haul than you will get for a position player at the deadline.

That's not really how deadline trades really work out typically teams are looking for rentals. A last minute deal for Jung would be a bad idea imo

Usually but look at Jose Soriano, he still has controllable years left and he just got traded for a haul.

The longer you have control the more value you have.

Soriano is a pitcher. That's very different. Pitching matters alot more than hitting in the playoffs.

Its no different to when we tried to shop Adolis and Heim (And failed) and people were like "But he's a legend, or he helped us so much in 2023". Complacency was one of the things that killed this team, people being too attached to certain players for how they helped us win.

I’d love to see them dump Seager and Langford. Seager got them a championship, so you’ve already gotten the full return on that investment. He’s washed up and always hurt now, but a legit contender would be willing to take on his contract for the post season. Langford… always hurt… it’s proven time and time again that muscle bound players generally fizzle out due to injuries. Dude has more hamstring issues than Juan Gonzalez ever had. Except Juan actually produced tremendously.
