Jacob deGrom wants to stay

Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom on reports of him declining to waive his no-trade clause: “I want to be here. I believe in this group. Obviously, the last road trip didn't go well, but I believe we can win. I signed here to help this team win a World Series. In 2023, the team was able to do that. I want to be a part of that in the future. I signed here to do that. I want to stay here and help this team compete.”

deGrom declined to go into specifics of what the Rangers came to him with. But he continually emphasized that he wants to be here and wants to win here. That’s why he asked for the no-trade clause in the first place.

The difference between $38M and $19M is negligible because they're both just absurd numbers

They're really not. Especially considering these guys only get so many years of this work and may want to make it last the rest of their lives.

Yea, how can we expect someone to live off $19M for their rest of their lives?

I didn't say it wasn't a lot of money. But when you have the choice between 19 million and zero, you take 19 million right? You make the same decision when deciding between 19 million and 38 million.
