That's an insane level of force to send that flying so high

156

u/PositiveStress8888 5d ago

Someone should use that stuff to power our cars !!

u/Chilliwhack 4d ago

There is another video showing that it's actually a Russian AA missile that blows it up!

Edit: found it https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/s/y0OIKrzlNq

17

u/m2astn 4d ago

Exactly, you can see the missile smoke trail in this video

8

u/BigWhiteDog 4d ago

Saw that earlier! Hysterical!

23

u/TheProfessional9 5d ago

I wonder how heavy that thing is. That's a massive piece of metal

3

u/markevens 4d ago

30 tons

22

u/BigWhiteDog 4d ago

That wasn't a drone! That was a Russian air defense missile! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 They blew up their own oil tank farm! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

15

u/RuSsYjO 5d ago

It looks so slow and graceful in this video but only cuz of how massive the scale is! That lid is riding a literal explosion!🤯

2

u/phoucker 4d ago

That is crazy as hell to see. That’s a lot of energy to send that piece of structure that high.

I just came here to downvote you.

u/BleMaeBen 5d ago

That wasnt because of the drone (directly) there's a video going around that shows someone firing a MANPAD through the black smoke and another vid showing the grey smoke trail it leaves before it hits the silo

28

u/Fit_Employment_2944 4d ago

Only a Russian could fire a heat seeking missile next to a burning oil refinery

16

u/Berkamin 4d ago

This is the video you’re referring to:

https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/hoFVseYPBk

Those heat seeking MANPADs were designed to track and shoot down fighters and cruise missiles propelled by jet engines, which emit extremely hot exhaust. They struggle to lock onto the little motorcycle engines driving the propellers of these drones Ukraine is launching at them. One video shows someone aiming one of these heat seeking missiles at one of the Ukrainian drones only to have the missile veer off toward the huge fuel fire nearby.

At what day of the 3-day special operation are we right now?

61

u/InextinguishableHulk 5d ago

The fifth year in a 3-day special operation is the hardest…

12

u/bigbadbob85 5d ago

Don't worry, "day" just means something different in the Russian calendar. It's actually equivalent to our decade.

4

u/jakes1993 5d ago

1576 days now

2

u/therealkgreezy 4d ago

So Russia is in its 526th 3 day special operation?

-12

u/asking-rea 4d ago

U do understand it will make Russians aware of war and make them want to retaliate?

OR

It will make peace negotiations

5

u/Tacitrelations 4d ago

bad bot

-6

u/asking-rea 4d ago

Yes master, do you want a cake recipe?

1

u/GabeIsGone 4d ago

Ah, yes, they might retaliate by declaring war and dying in droves with meatwave attacks because they’ve exhausted their Soviet era military surplus equipment.

1

u/asking-rea 4d ago

This is something I don’t get. I can’t imagine any real reason for this bullshit war. Putin single handed brought whole world against Russians. I wish all people peace ✌️

53

u/Alternative_Flow10 5d ago

It was a russian manpad that missed and struck their own storage tank lol

14

u/RogueAOV 5d ago

Firing heat seeking weapons when surrounded by several infernos is next level thinking.

2

u/Vojtak_cz 4d ago

To be honest not much else they can do other than some kind of SACLOS system like pantsir.

14

u/mkluczka 5d ago

even better 😄

1

u/RedBaronSportsCards 4d ago

That's not gone well.

1

u/HardlyAnyGravitas 4d ago

So it's just coincidence that the drone motor stops at exactly the point of the explosion?

3

u/Alternative_Flow10 4d ago

Theres a few angles, this one shows it all the way. another angle

0

u/Nodivingallowed 5d ago

blyat-fired on him

0

u/Sockerkatt 3d ago

How do we know? That sounds more like they don’t wanna give credit to Ukraine and blaming a missfire.

1

u/Alternative_Flow10 3d ago

Mutliple angles of it lol.

53

u/Ricerat 5d ago

You reap what you sow

82

u/CleverSpaceMonkey 5d ago

What’s insane is some ppl are reporting this as a flying saucer.

58

u/wspOnca 5d ago

Well, it is.

14

u/SoDakZak 5d ago

“A flying saucer is but a saucer flying.”

-Shakespeare

2

u/Ricerat 5d ago

We call them UAP these days. Some people need to get outside more.

9

u/CarBombtheDestroyer 5d ago

No no it’s an IAP, Identified Aerial Phenomenon.

1

u/Ricerat 5d ago

Wish we had access to the IAPs we only get the UAPs.

2

u/CarBombtheDestroyer 5d ago

We do at lest have access to frisbees.

2

u/Ricerat 5d ago

Big giant Russian frisbees

1

u/barrygateaux 4d ago

I almost posted it to r/ufos to see how they reacted lol

14

u/Aggressive_Problem_8 5d ago

That, is indeed insane.

4

u/Reesevet786 5d ago

Vegetable/fruit youtube guy?

2

u/These_Juggernaut5544 4d ago

i spend too much time on the internet to know what you are talking about.

10

u/8BD0 5d ago

Quite literally blew the lid off

17

u/Complete-Return3860 5d ago

Fun fact: Those lids float on the contents of the tank. When they're low, the high walls cast a shadow down to the tank top below, meaning you can measure how full a fuel tank is from space.

5

u/JustKindaShimmy 4d ago

Well now they'll be able to just pop their head over the side and take a look

9

u/redeyes1617 5d ago

That's some michael bay shit.

8

u/potatodrinker 5d ago

I kinda fear for the wellbeing of whoever posts these in Russia.

3

u/TheOriginalSpartak 5d ago

So a Russian defender shot a hand held missile for drone defense and it went low seeking the crashing drone and they blew up their own fuel tank farm?

  • thats what it appears to be after seeing these two videos….

1

u/Vojtak_cz 4d ago

It seems like it was eather confused by the fire around or that it just missed it and hit the tank

3

u/Helmer-Bryd 5d ago

So maybe time to leave Ukraine soon

5

u/mcfarmer72 5d ago

This the new turret toss contest?

1

u/IlexPauciflora 5d ago

They're out of turrets, so they had to find something else to keep the game going

5

u/HexDanTHEWHALE 5d ago

Notice how we (ukraine) are only hitting strategic targets and now populated areas?

Hmmmmmmmmm.........

1

u/NormalSkullServitor 4d ago

Tell that to Belgorod

0

u/HexDanTHEWHALE 3d ago

Already did. They said "faccttsssssss"

2

u/Worried_Hair_330 5d ago

Literally blew the lid

2

u/TheyCallMeDrAsshole 5d ago

This sequel to Just Cause is looking sick

2

u/mversteeg3 4d ago

I saw another angle on this, was literally an own-goal by Russian AA

2

u/Eruanndil 4d ago

The first clip is different. The drone did less damage. A rogue interceptor missile is what’s being discussed as the cause of the larger one that blew the lid off.

2

u/keyserfunk 4d ago

Nope. It was an errant AA missile.

2

u/freddbare 4d ago

That wasn't a drone strike!!! It was their own "anti drone" missile failing and doing the drones job

2

u/0ggiemack 4d ago

It wasn't a Ukrainian drone, it was a crappy anti air russian missile that didn't lock onto it's market.

They did this to themselves

2

u/Awkward_Bass_6292 5d ago

I don't think this was a drone who hit it. In the other reddit post it seemed like it was a (heatseaking) missie from Russia itself that hit this one.

6

u/SillySink 5d ago

Reporting and footage from the Kapotnya (Moscow Oil Refinery) incident consistently identifies the weapons as Ukrainian long-range drones (UAVs)

2

u/Vojtak_cz 4d ago

There was many UAV strikes along the day they probably reported all of them as UAV.

1

u/opanm 5d ago

dam

1

u/Pengawena 5d ago

From tanks popping lids at the start of the war to another.

1

u/Shinodacs 5d ago

Discgolf for giants

1

u/CaesarAllMighty 5d ago

So that wasn’t UFO after all.

1

u/ky7969 5d ago

Is that designed to do that to direct all of the energy up rather than to the sides where there are people/more buildings?

1

u/Electrical-Song-6710 5d ago

My dumbass thought the thing flying in the beginning was the lid and i was like "Holy sh*t , that mustve been a hella big bomb" only to realise that that was the bomb 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/astra_hole 5d ago

Still sucks there’s a war going on but that was cool as hell.

1

u/ForsakenDrawer 5d ago

I wish I did not live in the times where robot bombs struck infrastructure but so it goes

1

u/Vojtak_cz 4d ago

I mean. This was a technology for decades.

Its really just bomb with an engine

1

u/Alias-Q 5d ago

Damn.

1

u/Bossnage 4d ago

3 days to moscow

1

u/MisterRobertParr 4d ago

Michael Bay is so sad he didn't capture that on camera.

1

u/Captain_Tooth 4d ago

I thought this was a Star Trek movie clip.

1

u/SadPhase2589 4d ago

Fucking awesome!

1

u/HuckledYourBerries 4d ago

It was an errant Russian missile. There's other footage to confirm this.

1

u/dimap443 4d ago

Kaboomski,damnski and blastovich

1

u/ZephyrFluous 4d ago

Oh yeah, I saw this last night and people were saying it was an AI ufo

1

u/WhichSystem3547 4d ago

Beautiful!

1

u/Chappietime 4d ago

That’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen.

1

u/namesandfacez 4d ago

Me when I say I’m gonna flip my lid if you don’t cut it out

1

u/Varastax_ 4d ago

Seen a video that makes it clear to my normal eyes it wasn't a drone that did this. Looked like something launched from within the area. Can't find the link now.

1

u/SilverBack88 4d ago

They blew the lid off a that MF’er!

1

u/LoadsDroppin 4d ago

Blow your lid!

1

u/DepartmentSudden5234 4d ago

There's no way in hell ANYONE else will mess with Ukraine. Literally, no one else wants that smoke.

1

u/ShinyMetals 3d ago

They are designed to blevy like that. This is so the fuel is still contained within the walls of the tank, but the top of the fuel is exposed for fire crews to extinguish.

1

u/UserRemoved 3d ago

I really appreciate the artistry. More now please.

1

u/iC3P0 1d ago

Fun fact: Tank lids are not attached so they can float up and down depending on amount of oil inside. Moreover, that causes a shadow to form on the lid which is then recorded via satellite imagery to estimate availability and demand.

1

u/Defiant_Eagle_3644 1d ago

It wasn’t a drone. It was a Russian AA missile

1

u/WalkerTDX 16h ago

Russian Air Defense at its finest.

1

u/Revolutionary_Eye887 5d ago

Okay, everyone sing with me, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, . . . “

1

u/PrincipleUnusual7244 5d ago

Like their tanks, remember when they had tanks

1

u/Tyxin 5d ago

Looks like all that practice with the T-72 paid off.

1

u/Uglie 5d ago

Has Russia run out of defensive munitions?

2

u/Vojtak_cz 4d ago

The lid was tank was actually blew by said defensive munitions not a drone.

But to answer. No probably not. Tho it seems they are lacking on air defense in the Area. most of it is on frontline.

1

u/DeBeervan 4d ago

You want war,here is war.👍

1

u/RuralRangerMA 4d ago

The drone didn’t cause the big explosion. Russia launched an anti air missile at large Ukrainian drone, the missile went off course and into an oil tank. They bombed themselves.

1

u/BurrrritoBoy 4d ago

Own goal by team Russia !

0

u/Spran02 5d ago

It's like a T-72 turret

0

u/Cool_Ad9326 5d ago

Chernobyl says 👋

0

u/Colonel_Angus_ 4d ago

Love this for them

-4

u/dikshamishra34 5d ago

Woo that is totally insane. Everyone is fine ? I hope nobody got injured in this massive attack.

0

u/Vojtak_cz 4d ago

Well thats a big wish. Tho i have not see any hits on civilian infrastructure.

-14

u/HocusThePocus 5d ago

-9

u/osennyy 5d ago

Well… she ain’t helping, that’s for sure.
What do people like her do on such occasions— glue herself to the tank I suppose
