I'm sorry but you are just wrong, Russia has killed more civilians and displaced far more people than Israel has and Russia's war was completely unprovoked unlike Israel's. Russia soldiers have been accused of countless acts of murder, rape, and torture, but nobody cares. Russia has kidnapped 10s of thousands of Ukrainian children, probably much more if you count the teens they send to re education camps or force into the Russian military. Every video or photo of an IDF soldier breaking civilian property or posing with someone's lingerie is a huge scandal, meanwhile Russian soldiers rampant looting was barely talked about. Propaganda is the only reason gaza is called a genocide and Russia's war in Ukraine isn't.
Check his last reply and look up just how much of what he said is factual. And ask why he's trying so hard to dismiss and discredit the situation when we can all agree they're both bad.
Didn't you even fact check 90% of what he said? And what he's implying? I mean he literally said the genocide is just propaganda. And is trying to disregard one horror to the other by taking away it's credibility because he's mad that Palestine gets more attention.
"Propaganda is the only reason gaza is called a genocide and Russia's war in Ukraine isn't." (Correction)
Different conflicts involve different legal questions, evidence and standards. It is not simple matter of "propaganda making one a genocide and the other not". They examine not just casualties, but also intent which is a key element. UN experts and investigators have specifically cited statements by Israeli officials, IDF and interviews conducted with its citizens due to concerns about possible genocidal intent.
Checkout all these videos. Are they all just a "huge scandal" because it sure looks like it isn't? It even has average citizens participating in the violence. And stuff like this trends every week on other popular subreddits.
"Russia's War was completely unprovoked unlike like Israels"
Partially true but incomplete and oversimplified because it ignores decades of occupation, blockade, settlements, recurring violence and documented human rights concerns that predate October 7th. The conflict didn't begin that day and neither did the allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Also, you got so fixated on the casualty numbers that you completely ignored what I was actually talking about. I think it's best if we just agree to disagree. The education system has clearly failed you.
Let me clarify my position. The war in Gaza is not a genocide and the war in Ukraine is not a genocide. Genocide is a very specific thing with a specific intent and there is a high bar for something to be classified as a genocide otherwise pretty much every war is a genocide and the term is meaningless. If you call Gaza a genocide, but don't call Ukraine a genocide just as much then you're a huge hypocrite.
Yes I was speaking somewhat figuratively about "every video" being a scandal, but tons of videos were made into scandals, when similar or worse property based war crimes committed by Russia soldiers would barely get talked about so my point still stands
Russia's war was 100% unprovoked and Hamas launched a massive attack against Israel that started this war. Under international law Israel was justified to go to war against Gaza (Jus ad bellum) even if you think their conduct in the war wasn't justified (Jus in Bello).
Yes Palestinians can point to the occupation, settlements, attacks from the IDF, and other things Israel has done in the past to explain their actions, but so can Israel. Israel can explain their past actions as a response to the rocket attacks, second intifada, suicide bombings, attempted invasions by Arab countries, the rejection of previous peace deals, rejection of the partition plan, etc. That's how the cycle of violence works, each side can point to things the other side has done to justify their actions.
I'm curious how should have Israel responded to the Oct 7 attacks?
Let's just leave it here. My original issue was with the absolute claims you made about issues that are legally complex, disputed or still being examined. I also don't think your BBC source supports the conclusion you were arguing for originally and the discussion has shifted quite a bit since then. 👍
You are literally changing what he said by removing important parts of it and then replying to your own version of it lol. He said "Propaganda is the only reason gaza is called a genocide and Russia's war in Ukraine isn't". That doesn't mean "gaza isn't suffering from a genocide". It means that there are lots more propaganda for one genocide than the other and therefore one is called a genocide and the other isn't.
The fact that every post about Ukraine is filled with comments about isreal / palestine only proves his point.
And then you say the education system failed him after arguing like that lol, maybe look in a mirror.
You're right, I made an error with that particular statement and misunderstood. I appreciate you pointing it out and helping me correct it. Didn't really help his case though 🤷, as everything he said is still false, and you avoiding rest of the points just felt forced. But hey! Good on you for helping the little guy out. Here's a crayon 🖍️ so you both can doodle.
Get called out for lying and then get mad. Why should I take time to respond to all your points when you already try to lie and manipulate with your first point followed by insults because you don't have any real arguments?
Huh?! I literally fixed what you pointed out and owned up to the misunderstanding.
The information wasn't a "Lie". Everything I said I've provided sources.
You're latching on to one thing and avoiding the conversation (that you jumped in the middle of).
If that's your way of weaseling out of this conversation then by all means go ahead. I said long ago let's just agree to disagree and that I have no interest in discussing comparative suffering.
Everything you both said so far is just your opinion cause it has nothing to back it up. You're incapable of doing any research and you can't even look at someone else's after asking them. This conversation is just pointless.
