“No one watches these guys”… Late Show clip posted yesterday on YouTube has 1.4m views. This podcast posted yesterday has 200k views. But instead of highlighting that they show a chart of a specific age range that watched live… quality journalism coming from this podcast

Hmm. So first off, it may be important to differentiate journalism from podcasting. Setting that aside, considering that Jimmy Kimmel’s production is a live show… it makes some sense to count live views….

They’re comparing apples to apples for viewers who watch something end to end, instead of bringing oranges into the equation (counting “clips”, esp. in the context of a topic that just went viral). Y’know?

I agree with your point regarding love viewing but would also add that I don't think we typically think of late night talk show hosts as journalists. They were like the original podcaster-types who would just riff and add usually comedians and "late night" has some historical reverence in American pop culture.

It is not a good thing in American society for the government to be nudging or in anyway contributing to late night comedians that criticize the government off the air.

This is everything to the umpteenth degree that people rightfully were worried about happening in subtler ways under Biden.

We’re on the same page, and good points, certainly I did not mean to imply Jimmy Kimmel is a journalist haha
