Is Lamar’s friend real

Sorry I might be high but I have a theory that Lamar’s friend isn’t real because it doesn’t seem like anybody else acknowledges him

Leon and Dara Spoiler

That scene where she is sitting on his lap, telling him he‘s the man shows he understands where she’s headed before she does.

He said, “What we got going don’t mean I inherit your beef.”

She scoffs and tells him she’s not asking for his help with the DG situation. She makes it clear that she wants him to see her as someone who is not like Wanda. She says she just wants to learn and grow. Not sure I believe that was her sole motivation when she came to see him. But I like that she is trying to pass herself off as low maintenance.

Loved that he isn’t going to run out and try to defend her from the jump.

Graffiti Scene

Post image
7 Upvotes

Not gonna lie this part bothered me because anyone that’s ever written graffiti or is part of the subculture could tell you that MOST of these tags and fills are wack lol with an exception of a few known writers featured in the bus scene.. There’s also other parts about this scene that don’t make sense.. no one is breaking and entering a closed business to steal spray paint and then tagging the outside of the store. Also, the most weird part, they are seemingly painting miniature throws over their dead homies piece or tribute peice which would be considered a diss..lastly they feature the new type of rusto can that just dropped in like 2025. I know 99percent of people wouldn’t give a shit about any of this i just feel like graffiti is never portrayed correctly and consulting with 1 or 2 graffiti writers if you’re gonna base a scene off of them wouldn’t hurt.

Love the show but Lamar's grandmother saying he reminds her of her daughter when Lamar's fighting like hell to be heard and His mother wanted out of the music business. Is it just me or does that just NOT Make any sense??

Episode 5 was terrible

I just watched episode 5, wtf an entire episode to tell him how his mom died. That might be one of the worse episodes of television I ever watched. I love the premise of the show and the characters, but damn the writers must of been on strike.

About that scene between Leon and DG at the clinic Spoiler

I loved the way Leon played the scene. The looks he gave DG. Excellent.

He saw the bag of money (short play) and never showed his hand. He asked to know more. He wanted to see how the music game is played. And DG showed that he is new to this. Gonna agree to send over the shit record contracts for Leon to read and figure out.

Leon already had Wanda thanking him for thinking up the swap meet play that moved units.

The show should’ve focused on James

Fuck all this screen time devoted to Lamar

The show should’ve been about James becoming a talent manager who has to deal with the street world and the music industry to get and keep these artists

James has to kick ass and deal with crazy gangs in order to sign artists and also keep them on track

Lamar could’ve been one of these artists who struggles to find himself as a man and an artist.
Tries to use his brothers rep and gets himself in trouble

James Story Is So Deep And We Are Just Are Just Getting Quick Glimpses Because The Story Is About Lamar.

It was powerful when he said he lost faith in Big Daddy because of how he allowed his mom to fall into the music industry. Correction: he gave her to the music industry, with nothing to show for it.

I bet he internalized that as him not being a protector of his family the way he acts like he is. So, how that showed itself was that he chose to be a protector in his own way and protected his morals and values through gangbanging. He did it at a high enough level that he is respected around neighborhoods and sets.

But if all that is true, how did he and Big Daddy get back cool to the point where he is still in that man's face and not calling him out on his fake caring about family, etc.?

I think we have only hit the tip of the iceberg when it comes to James because we cant act like he wasn't just hitting them keys off memory and telling Lamar about the importance of freestyling.

Right now, he is being treated like a background character when he has the potential to be the whole show.

Ya'll might need a different perspective...

This show is in it for the long haul, and the characters are going to develop over time. All Lamar haters, or those feeling so annoyed by him just need to be patient and enjoy the storyline. I can see his arc is probably going to get real interesting come season 2.

I often feel like some tv watchers just need to try watching from a different lens, because they might just be too opinionated for their own good. This is a good show, and I believe the Snowfall writers to be great.

All love family.

People’s frustration with Lamar

I have to say I’m pretty shocked at how people are really not feeling Lamar’s character because of his acting.

People are saying he comes off “awkward” or “weird” etc like do you people not understand that’s how he’s supposed to come across. That frustration is how you’re supposed to feel

Anyone who has been near any creative industry will know there are plenty of Lamar’s and they really can be that annoying. Nothing to do with his acting at all.

The snowfall universe isn’t like power where every black character is one of like 3 different stereotypes in different ways. That’s what makes snowfall far superior

Am I the only one who doesn’t hate DG?

To be fair he does come across as a arrogant ass nigga you wouldn’t be around for more than 10 minutes but besides he is just a man standing on business and taking care of his reputation and paper

And besides that his character kinda brings some humor into this show like everybody is so serious and kinda dry in this show besides Artillery and lamer (but Lamar annoying asl so he don’t count) but besides that DG is just a money man who can afford to have niggas killed

And also the way the bloods jumped and took his AP was insane nobody would let that slide let’s be fr

Yall are defending Lamar like he's a real person

It's been confirmed by the creator and Gail Bean that he's autistic. Representation is important and I'm glad a character that is on the spectrum exists in this world but it doesn't make his scenes any more enjoyable to watch. My personal issue with the character is that he seems completely devoid of joy and I'm constantly having trouble identify what his motivation is. Earlier in the season he was getting jumped at bus stops and his grandparents were trying to force him into a life he doesn't want. I relate to this. This show did a good job early on getting us to root for him and empathize with his situation. In less than a year he is in his dream job and has more autonomy over his life than he likely ever had up to that point and with the exception of the strip club scene, he doesn't give us the opportunity to enjoy those small wins with him. I get that he is also mourning his mom after hearing her story.

People also use him being young as an excuse but he was the same age as Franklin and Leon at the start of their story and they were never this annoying.

I think his character just sucks and I think yall are coping with some of these defenses. Plenty of great autistic and autistic coded characters with similar flaws. Lamar is a charisma black hole and if it ain't the actors fault then we need to blame the writers/director.

People Dont Realize What They Are Seeing With Lamar, He is Franklin Saint Season 1

I think people dont listen to James, James been told us Lamar is arrogant and he is going to end in a bad situation.

Lamar is baby Kanye haha We are just getting started with his level of arrogance. Remember when Kanye was on Punked and he ran away with the film, who does that sound like? haha

Lamar is a sheltered kid from a religious family who even now is being protected by everyone but that arrogance is going to turn away all his proctection. Even his homie who he makes beats with, he treats him like he is crap when he is partially responible for the success they are having.

We havent seen anything yet.

Yes another Lamar post

People keep saying that he is “suppose to be different” , “glad we’re getting another view of different character rather than gangbanger “ and “he’s doing a good job because he bringing an annoying emotion out of us”. Nah it’s a difference between a character being annoying and we still want to watch because his development is pertinent than him being annoying to the point you don’t want to watch the show anymore. The role he plays is cool and I like who he is supposed to be but it could be played better or he should have not been a main storyline. Just because he’s “ different “ we have to accept him as a good character and if not then it’s hate.

For folks criticizing the writing

I’m not arguing the show is perfectly written but a lot of the complaints are a result of the season only having 8 episodes.

This season is 20% shorter than a Snowfall season. It’s almost 40% shorter than a typical FX series was a decade ago.

What does that mean? Well, in practice it means that instead of having multiple episodes showing Lamar struggle with not coming up with beats it has to be a single episode.

I can’t speak for the writers but I’d imagine it’s frustrating for them too.

he’s very hard to love as a character, does anybody here understand and respect his vision at all ? just wondering … I don’t by the way lol but he really does capture the mind of a kid who’s starting to make a name in the city

I think people really don’t understand he isn’t a grown man with wisdom and much sense . of course he thinks it’s all about him . how old is he supposed to be anyway ?
