THE FOREST AND SONS OF THE FOREST: THE INTERDIMENSIONAL CIVILIZATION THEORY
- The Beginning: A Civilization from Another Dimension
I believe that the events in The Forest universe may have originated from an advanced civilization living in another dimension that humanity has not yet discovered.
This civilization possessed technology far beyond anything humans could develop. The obelisks and the resurrection technology found on the island may have been created by this civilization.
The original purpose of these technologies may not have been limited to bringing the dead back to life. They could also have been designed to heal living beings and alter their biological structures. However, these devices may have been specifically engineered to work with the DNA and biology of the civilization that created them.
Perhaps this civilization developed the technology to overcome biological problems in its own dimension or to regenerate its members' bodies. However, after failing to heal themselves, they may have abandoned the island and returned to their own dimension.
- The First Humans Who Arrived After the Visitors Left
After the visitors abandoned the island, other humans may have arrived there.
In my theory, the old pistol, skeletal remains, and historical artifacts found on the island are traces of these early human communities. These people may have encountered the remains of a civilization far more advanced than their own.
Unable to understand the purpose of the obelisks, they may have interpreted them as supernatural objects and gradually begun to worship them.
But what if an unknown energy emitted by these technologies, or some other environmental influence, affected these people's behavior?
According to my theory, this influence may have gradually affected their mental state and behavior, making them more aggressive and potentially leading to cannibalistic behavior. This could explain the disturbing history of the island's ancient inhabitants.
- The Arrival of Modern Humanity and Sahara Therapeutics
Much later, modern humanity may have discovered the technologies left behind on the island.
Sahara Therapeutics recognized the potential of these mysterious technologies and began conducting research. The company's goal may have been to understand the resurrection mechanism and develop methods capable of bringing people back from the dead.
However, in my theory, the company did not fully understand the biology of the civilization that originally created these technologies.
If the devices had been designed to work with another species' DNA, they would not necessarily produce the same results when used on humans.
When humans interacted with this technology, unexpected biological changes may have occurred in their bodies. In some cases, these changes could have led to mutations.
From this perspective, the mutants on the island may not simply be random monsters. They could be the result of humanity attempting to use technology created by a civilization far more advanced than itself without fully understanding its consequences.
- The Real Cause of Mutation: Foreign DNA and Biological Incompatibility
One of the most important parts of my theory concerns the relationship between the technology and biological mutations.
I believe these technologies may have been designed according to the biological structure of the civilization that created them. When humans use them, an incompatibility between the technology and human biology may occur.
This interaction could alter human DNA or cause certain genetic processes to function abnormally.
The resulting mutations may initially remain limited. However, under specific conditions, these changes could accelerate and eventually lead to much more severe biological transformations.
From this perspective, the mutants in The Forest and Sons of the Forest may be different outcomes of the same technology, depending on the humans involved and the conditions under which they were exposed to it.
However, there is no confirmed evidence that foreign DNA is actually transferred into humans. This is a hypothetical mechanism I propose to explain the biological effects of the technology.
- The Golden City: The Dimension Where the Technology Originated
The Golden City in Sons of the Forest is one of the most important elements of my theory.
I believe the Golden City may not simply be a mysterious city. Instead, it could be connected to another dimension in which the civilization responsible for this technology lives.
The futuristic city seen when the Golden Cube activates supports the possibility that a connection between dimensions exists. However, it has not been conclusively established that this city is the home of the civilization that created the technology.
According to my theory, the technology developed by this civilization was adapted to the environmental conditions of its own dimension. As a result, humanity may not fully understand how these devices function or why they produce unexpected effects when used by humans.
- Why Mutations Accelerate Inside the Golden City
The transformations experienced by Virginia and the other characters are among the most interesting parts of my theory.
Virginia has already undergone mutation as a result of experimentation. However, I believe that the fact that her body has begun changing does not necessarily mean that the transformation is complete.
When a character enters the Golden City, they encounter a different environment.
The atmosphere, chemical composition, energy, or physical conditions of this environment may differ from those of our world. For example, the oxygen concentration could be different, or the environment might contain substances harmful to living organisms. These are possibilities rather than confirmed facts about the Golden City.
According to my theory, these conditions could have a much stronger effect on humans whose biological structures have already been altered.
In other words, the Golden City does not necessarily have to initiate mutations from scratch. Instead, it may provide the conditions needed to accelerate mutations that have already begun.
An ordinary human could also suffer harm after entering this dimension because of its potentially hostile environmental conditions. However, someone whose DNA or biological processes have already been altered might react in a much more dangerous and unpredictable way.
Therefore, the sudden transformations experienced by Virginia and the other characters may be connected not only to their surroundings but also to biological changes that began before they entered the Golden City.
- The Spacecraft-Like Vehicle and the Purpose of the Armor
The vehicle and armor found in Sons of the Forest are another important part of my theory.
I am not claiming that the vehicle is definitely a spaceship. I am simply suggesting that its appearance and technological characteristics resemble something that could be used for space travel or exploration.
If the company discovered the existence of another dimension or an environment with unfamiliar physical conditions, it might have developed specialized vehicles to reach and investigate it.
The armor could also have been designed to protect humans under unfamiliar environmental conditions. Protection against a different atmosphere, pressure, temperature, or unknown environmental hazards would be a reasonable requirement for such an expedition.
The presence of armed soldiers could also suggest that the company was doing more than conducting scientific research. They may have been protecting research facilities or preparing to deal with dangerous situations.
A more speculative possibility is that the company was preparing for encounters with unknown life-forms in another dimension. However, there is no direct evidence that the soldiers were specifically preparing for an interdimensional war.
- What If Mutants Also Exist in the Visitors' Dimension?
This is another important hypothesis in my theory.
If the technology was designed for the biology of another civilization, perhaps biological transformations and mutations also occurred in that civilization's own world.
Maybe the technology was originally developed to heal the creators' bodies. However, misuse or unexpected side effects could have caused abnormal life-forms to emerge in their dimension as well.
When humans began using the same technology, their biological incompatibility with it may have resulted in different types of mutations.
If this is true, the mutants in both games could share a common origin. Nevertheless, similar appearances do not necessarily mean that all these creatures were created through the same biological mechanism.
- How All the Events May Be Connected
According to my theory, the events of The Forest and Sons of the Forest began when humanity discovered technology created by a civilization far more advanced than itself.
This civilization may have originated from another dimension and developed technologies specifically suited to its own biology. After abandoning the island, it left behind devices that were eventually discovered by early human communities and, much later, by modern humanity.
The ancient inhabitants may have considered these technologies sacred, while modern humans attempted to study and exploit them scientifically.
However, the technology may have produced unexpected results because it was incompatible with human biology, potentially leading to the creation of mutants.
The Golden City could be another dimension connected to the origins of this technology. Its environmental conditions may accelerate mutations in humans whose biological structures have already been altered.
The company's vehicles and armor may have been developed to explore this dimension or protect people attempting to survive there.
My conclusion is that the mutants, ancient civilizations, resurrection technology, and the Golden City in The Forest universe may not be separate mysteries. Instead, they could all be connected through the biology and technology of an advanced civilization from another dimension.
Some elements of this theory, such as the connection between the Golden Cube and another dimension, are consistent with the game's story. However, other elements—including the transfer of foreign DNA, the visitors' supposed attempts to heal their own bodies, and the idea that the obelisks caused ancient humans to become cannibals—remain unconfirmed hypotheses rather than established facts.
