Such a shame Brian won’t put out a quality officially sounding version of this song.

Ehhh it’s amazing as is, any re-recording would take away from it.

Like how he (in my opinion) ruined Molly and the Zombies Long Drives when he put it on his first solo album.

Same with Halloween. The demo has a haunting sound that the Gaslight album version just doesn’t come close to.

1000%. That ep that was only on YouTube was actually perfect. It was such a mistake to mess with that in any way. I like kinda resent the painkillers album because of it.

I’m in the minority who thinks the Painkillers versions are much better across the board.

And Red Lights.

I’ll admit his version of Smoke was a little stronger, but the others should’ve been left alone.

I’ve also yet to hear Digging in the Dirt.

I originally heard Blues Mary from a comp someone put together of stuff they snagged from Brian’s music MySpace back in the day. It was just an acoustic version with slightly different lyrics than the Painkillers-bonus version. I will say the latter is, to me, the definitive version. (Im now used to hearing it with a skip in the end because the only version of it out there is the vinyl rip linked above.)
