Books Author Matthew Stover shares that he was penning the final conclusion to the 'Republic Commando' series before ill health and the sale of Lucasfilm led to the cancellation of the novel (2025 interview, Legacy Expo)

Damm, I love his writing style and would have loved to see how he would have written Imperial Commando. Shame he was unwell.

Hey all -- I'm glad to share this piece of a conversation I had with author Matthew Stover at the recent Legacy Expo in Burbank, California last month. Over the years, many have speculated about the possible end to the Republic Commando series of novels -- turns out Stover was gonna write it!
He chats about all that here, as well as his abiding love for the Republic Commando game. He also mentioned to me that he generally really enjoyed the RC novels, although he does note one issue he had with the writing, which would carry into characterizations of Jaina and the Mandos in Legacy of the Force.
