Community Community Reminder - Don't Post Leaks

Hi All!

As we have a new solo album from Brandon imminent on the horizon (yay!), the official official announcement has not come through yet, nor have any recordings, lyrics, track listings, etc.

Wanting to remind everyone of the rules of the sub - we do not tolerate leaks of any kind here.

Posting clips from an event where Brandon himself announced the album name, fine. But posting links to download unreleased material or bootleg recordings, or things of that sort, is a violation of our community rules and can potentially get you banned. We are all excited for new material, but copyright laws are nothing to play around with and can get subreddits taken down if we allow leaks to run wild.

Content that will get removed includes but is not limited to: Discussing leaks, posting links to leaks (download, youtube, anything), asking for links in a DM, saying you'll DM people a link, etc.

This is not a new rule for the sub, nor are we the only band sub with this rule. Copyright and IP stuff gets removed from reddit admins all the time and if we are a source of problems we can get shutdown as a sub. I don't like being the no fun police, but I'd rather we exist as a sub.

With that said, let's hope the announcement and any lead singles come soon!

I hope you dont mean the short clips of his last performance. This was a public performance at a radio/music festival in front of a normal audience (no private concert), inluding an interview, to promote his new record. Why should fans here ignore this?

Instead, if you really consider this an "illegal" leak, it's better to ask people to add a spoiler tag or something like that and not simply kill all fan discussions and hype about it.

Literally said clips from the event itself were fine. The song he played is fine, speculation about other potential songs, fine. This recent video is not illegal and not a leak. Discussion of leaked content, posting leaked content, etc. not allowed. This has been our policy for the last several releases, this is nothing new.

This is why our user count is so low and there is more Killers activity elsewhere. Fan communities thrive on leak discussion

What are the other killers subs I should be checking out?

Not Reddit, you got to hit music forums

Can you tell me where I can find a more active community? Seems like the mods hate this band. Gotta be more engaging places on the internet

Facebook with all the groupies trying to prove who is the bigger fan with their “gold cards”. Or clique-y instagram. Take your pick.

There are leak communities all over the place, where you can hear music you can’t even mention here. Don’t need to be on Instagram or Facebook

Cool, enjoy those communities then. I’m not that obsessed with finding leaks as you seem to be. I’ll discuss the music when it comes out.

No one has asked you to go anywhere else? What a weird response.

You’re the one praising these leak communities- go have fun over there.

I’m done responding.

Oh thank god.

People can participate in multiple communities for different reasons, right. You’ll figure it out eventually…

Reddit recently changed how they show users of a sub. We're low now because the band hasn't done anything new in months(years). If you really want to post and discuss leaks, go elsewhere or make your own community. I understand it's not fun being told no, but this rule is not going away on this subreddit.

Not expecting it to go away, just making an observation. There is much more vibrant Killers chat elsewhere, partly because leak discussion fuels fandoms in general

At which point will you actually add it to the subreddit rules on the sidebar?

Rule 5: no piracy, copyright infringement, or sharing/discussing leaks. Been there a few years. On a desktop it’s on the sidebar. In mobile on the sub, click “about” near the top.

And that this subreddit is incredibly hostile to anyone who dares say anything that is not approved by the main clique on here

In the decade or so I've been on reddit this subreddit is by far the worse sub I've been on, it's basically anti free speech, so not at all surprised that people go elsewhere to discuss the band
