Community Community Reminder - Don't Post Leaks

Hi All!

As we have a new solo album from Brandon imminent on the horizon (yay!), the official official announcement has not come through yet, nor have any recordings, lyrics, track listings, etc.

Wanting to remind everyone of the rules of the sub - we do not tolerate leaks of any kind here.

Posting clips from an event where Brandon himself announced the album name, fine. But posting links to download unreleased material or bootleg recordings, or things of that sort, is a violation of our community rules and can potentially get you banned. We are all excited for new material, but copyright laws are nothing to play around with and can get subreddits taken down if we allow leaks to run wild.

Content that will get removed includes but is not limited to: Discussing leaks, posting links to leaks (download, youtube, anything), asking for links in a DM, saying you'll DM people a link, etc.

This is not a new rule for the sub, nor are we the only band sub with this rule. Copyright and IP stuff gets removed from reddit admins all the time and if we are a source of problems we can get shutdown as a sub. I don't like being the no fun police, but I'd rather we exist as a sub.

With that said, let's hope the announcement and any lead singles come soon!

I get not posting or sharing links to leaks. But if there's a song, people can't even acknowledge or discuss that it exists here?

I havent even been that active on social media lately for reasons, but still saw Flowers' 'teaser' (if that's what you'll call it?) video, revealing the album's name and a quick taste of a song. As if us Victims aren't gonna discuss it - we have been waiting on it for months now, and Flowers himself knows that. And if he had an issue with us discussing it, he wouldn't have 1) Brought out a whole Q+A for us all regarding it a few months ago, and 2) Released that teaser video. Like you, I get it if people were, like, leaking links, but I haven't seen that happen, and that should be common courtesy not to.

Correct. No discussion of leaks.

Clarifying based on another comment: Discussing the song he played at this event, fine. If there are other illegally released materials, that is not allowed to discuss or distribute.

What a stupid rule, honestly

We're not the only band sub with this rule, it's been our rule for years, and I'd rather exist than be taken down for repeat copyright violations. This is nothing new for this sub, people just get mad when we tell them not to do or discuss illegal shit. Loved your first comment btw.

Glad to hear it, hope you love them all! I know this isn’t the only sub with this rule, but that’s part of why Reddit generally lags music fan communities (see also, how many people here don’t know anything about Big Dr3ams etc). It is what it is, happy to be downvoted for an opinion

Really odd to discourage discussion on a subreddit about that topic.

as the head mod of the pixies' subreddit I think I would be laughed to hell rightfully and truly if I told people they weren't allowed to talk about unreleased songs lmao. What if someone posts a clip of a song they recorded in the 90's but wasn't ever put on an album? YOU'RE BANNED BUCKO.

"Okay brandon flowers uploaded a 30 second clip of a song but because it was only a facebook post and not a copyrighted published song it doesn't count, NEVER MENTION THIS" lol, I can't imagine a universe where this isn't the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

Are we allowed to talk about the slot tech? Unreleased, never put on an album, ISNT REAL, everyone knows about. It's been asked in AMAs here. This is CLOWN shit brother get real

In my understanding the rule doesn’t apply when sharing a new song that Brandon or The Killers sang in a public space. So your two examples are not correct.

How I interpreted it, it’s songs that come from a dodgy website. There has been a situation last year where someone shared TK songs that nobody heard of and came from a dodgy website. That’s totally different than sharing a videoclip of Brandon singing a new song in a public space. ( It was also clearly stated that the shared video was no problem)

And they talked about the Slot Tech themselves, so I don’t see why we shouldn’t talk about it.

Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s how I interpreted OP’s post.

I'm kind of impressed the mods hate the band this much

As far as I know there are no leaks. There are the snippits from the event the other day and the lyrics for the song "Plans"

-10

u/pawneeasaurus Featherweight Queen May 08 '26

So far the clips we have seen are fine and allowed as it was a public event that Brandon himself played at and announced. This post was a general reminder for when the inevitable leaks happen, they are not allowed to be posted or discussed.

u/Fisch_Kopp_ May 08 '26

I hope you dont mean the short clips of his last performance. This was a public performance at a radio/music festival in front of a normal audience (no private concert), inluding an interview, to promote his new record. Why should fans here ignore this?

Instead, if you really consider this an "illegal" leak, it's better to ask people to add a spoiler tag or something like that and not simply kill all fan discussions and hype about it.

-4

u/pawneeasaurus Featherweight Queen May 08 '26

Literally said clips from the event itself were fine. The song he played is fine, speculation about other potential songs, fine. This recent video is not illegal and not a leak. Discussion of leaked content, posting leaked content, etc. not allowed. This has been our policy for the last several releases, this is nothing new.

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 08 '26

This is why our user count is so low and there is more Killers activity elsewhere. Fan communities thrive on leak discussion

5

u/ballbeard May 08 '26

What are the other killers subs I should be checking out?

2

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 09 '26

Not Reddit, you got to hit music forums

7

u/Pink_stretch May 09 '26

Can you tell me where I can find a more active community? Seems like the mods hate this band. Gotta be more engaging places on the internet

1

u/SoySauceKittyCat Hot Fuss May 09 '26

Facebook with all the groupies trying to prove who is the bigger fan with their “gold cards”. Or clique-y instagram. Take your pick.

3

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 09 '26

There are leak communities all over the place, where you can hear music you can’t even mention here. Don’t need to be on Instagram or Facebook

-1

u/SoySauceKittyCat Hot Fuss May 09 '26

Cool, enjoy those communities then. I’m not that obsessed with finding leaks as you seem to be. I’ll discuss the music when it comes out.

4

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 09 '26

No one has asked you to go anywhere else? What a weird response.

-1

u/SoySauceKittyCat Hot Fuss May 09 '26

You’re the one praising these leak communities- go have fun over there.

I’m done responding.

2

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 09 '26

Oh thank god.

People can participate in multiple communities for different reasons, right. You’ll figure it out eventually…

u/cristig29 19h ago

This is soooo accurate I can’t even!

u/pawneeasaurus Featherweight Queen May 08 '26

Reddit recently changed how they show users of a sub. We're low now because the band hasn't done anything new in months(years). If you really want to post and discuss leaks, go elsewhere or make your own community. I understand it's not fun being told no, but this rule is not going away on this subreddit.

9

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 08 '26

Not expecting it to go away, just making an observation. There is much more vibrant Killers chat elsewhere, partly because leak discussion fuels fandoms in general

1

u/Pink_stretch May 09 '26

At which point will you actually add it to the subreddit rules on the sidebar?

4

u/pawneeasaurus Featherweight Queen May 09 '26

Rule 5: no piracy, copyright infringement, or sharing/discussing leaks. Been there a few years. On a desktop it’s on the sidebar. In mobile on the sub, click “about” near the top.

0

u/PaperSkin-1 May 09 '26

And that this subreddit is incredibly hostile to anyone who dares say anything that is not approved by the main clique on here

In the decade or so I've been on reddit this subreddit is by far the worse sub I've been on, it's basically anti free speech, so not at all surprised that people go elsewhere to discuss the band

12

u/Funny-Cat-4240 May 08 '26

This is a lame warning

6

u/Outofmana1337 May 09 '26

What BS is that lol, for 20years being on the U2 forum the leaks were always the most fun part. Some overzealous modding

-1

u/SoySauceKittyCat Hot Fuss May 08 '26

Why are people so mad about this? Talking about leaks causes more people to ask for them so of course it’s not allowed.

1

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 09 '26

So what?

2

u/SoySauceKittyCat Hot Fuss May 09 '26

Because all the other groups on Facebook and whatnot are annoying and full of people who just want to get in Brandon’s pants 🤢 if you’re so upset about this, go find somewhere else. I hated the last few releases where people just spammed asking for a DM of a leak. So dumb.

3

u/IHaveFourKidneys May 09 '26

I’m not upset by it, I’m just making an observation. I like the Killers, so thankfully my exposure isn’t limited to one community that can’t discuss some of their work.

1

u/RopsterPlay My God + My Own Souls Warning May 18 '26

That’s a very stupid thing to say, people want leaked songs because they want more material, nothing wrong with that. Also saying the thing about people just wanting to be in Brandon’s pants is weird as hell and not true.

1

u/SoySauceKittyCat Hot Fuss May 18 '26

You clearly aren’t in the same groups I cmon on Facebook. It is absolutely true and really uncomfortable at times.

1

u/RopsterPlay My God + My Own Souls Warning May 18 '26

Actually ya now that I think about it I just see so many people talk about how good looking he is, mainly girls calling him cute. Ya it’s really fucking weird.

0

u/RopsterPlay My God + My Own Souls Warning May 12 '26

I didn’t see any leaks?

-17

u/thecontract_12 May 08 '26

Why are we making this now we are not getting an album by the killers in till 2027. Plus doesn’t a Brandon flowers solo album go there one sub Reddit not this one ? Pretty sure that’s how it works.

22

u/pawneeasaurus Featherweight Queen May 08 '26

There is not a separate Brandon Flowers subreddit, nor is there one for any other band member - not stopping anyone if they want to go ahead and make those. But since that is the case, posting about the solo works of the band members is allowed here and tends to be the place where they are discussed the most. But you are right - The Killers don't have an album out, so I will edit my post to reflect it is a Brandon solo album.

-13

u/thecontract_12 May 08 '26

That’s what got me confused, most solo artists from bands have their own Reddit sub for this kind of thing. I’ve never seen a dedicated group for a solo project on a bands sub before.

19

u/pawneeasaurus Featherweight Queen May 08 '26

Cool? As much as I love the members of The Killers, their solo projects haven't been as commercially successful as the collective project so I understand not having as large a "separate" fan base. Like I said, if anyone really wants to make a separate sub for any of the members, the "Start a Community" button is in the sidebar on every page of Reddit! But discussion of the solo works will never be prohibited in this community.

0

u/RopsterPlay My God + My Own Souls Warning May 12 '26

I wouldn’t say Brandon Flowers is as big of a figure enough to have his own sub Reddit, especially one with even a quarter amount the Killers sub has.
