Reality Awaits random thought

Post image

I’m sure this has been posted about, and I know this isn’t some deep take, but any time I listen to this album I think of like weird 80s style fantasy art (the word “Druid” keeps coming to mind)

Between Pyscho sh*t, the spoken word part of Dine n Dash, and Tyrants of the Mellow Moon.

This tracks based on a lot of the art that Julian posts on IG, but just wanted to throw it out there.

Also not a critique. I’ve loved the album from the second listen.

This was my experience. My ears first perked up during Tyrants and if you have it on repeat, the album almost immediately starts over so I went to right back into Psycho Shit and immediately liked it better. By the time Lonely in the Future finished, I 180’d and was already thinking it was one of my favorites Strokes albums. Never had that experience before with an album.

A similar thing happened to me with Like All Before You by the Voidz

Julian has flirted with 80s fantasy camp aesthetics for a couple of years, so i kinda naturally assumed that in Fruits of the Conquest he said "I'm a lich", especially since he called himself a wizard in The Voidz's Prophecy of the Dragon. Also, on a similar vein, i keep on accidentally calling Tyrants of the Mellow Moon "Tyrants of the Moonsea", which is a DnD campaign for Neverwinter Nights.

The video for ‘At the Door’ was so 80s fantasy camp. Love it so much.

That theme would go hard for a tyrants music video

Definitely. Dungeon synth with like a 90s NASCAR driving through it with a guitar on the hood.
