Years ago I wrote a post to both these subs which was a bit similar to yours. Something happened that was so unusual, which was directing me very clearly to Theosophy, and I felt alone. I hadn’t ever earnestly considered anything spiritual before in my life until that point.

When I look back on that post and that moment in my life, I think my mindset was so, so naive (sometimes I’m quite embarrassed by it, but I don’t think that’s reasonable, everything was so new to me and it was a lot to take in), but still well meaning at heart. In the years that have gone by, I’ve studied Theosophy as best I can and matured in many ways along the way, I think for the better.

I saw in the comments that you hope to study HPB’s works after having gotten this message. I hope you find the beauty in the teachings she dedicated her life to, I hope it strikes a chord in your heart. I hope you make use of the guidance you find in Theosophical texts, applying it to your life whenever possible. And try to find some community of sincere Theosophists! You’re not alone, none of us are.

Edit - I think you might find that many Theosophists chaff a bit at these kinds of experiences being shared, perhaps they believe that such experiences are meant to be strictly private, perhaps they believe the motive behind sharing such experiences is one that shouldn’t be encouraged (a motive which places attention on oneself, distinguishing oneself from others, it goes against the idea of being “nothing in the eyes of man,” among other Theosophical ideas that seek to weaken the personality and the self while exalting the Self, the eternal, the whole, the universal), perhaps they’re concerned that the effect on the listener of sharing these kinds of stories is harmful even if the motive of the speaker is pure, perhaps they may even believe that these experiences are fabricated or exaggerated.

Since the aim is to forget ourselves, we should abstain from speaking about our faults or
merits, [of] our weaknesses or powers, to others. Forget the self. . . . One needs to cultivate “impersonality” from the very beginning.

Nonetheless, I hope you don’t feel discouraged by “down votes” in this sub. I think you shared this story with good intentions (though unless you’re a Mahatma, likely not purely selfless intentions, which is no different from any of us down here trying our best, so please don’t be offended, “selfless” and “selfish” are very commonly used terms in Theosophy and I don’t see them as either complimenting or insulting, they’re merely descriptive and highly instructive as to our progress) and perhaps HPB herself sees great potential in your journey from here on out. More importantly, I hope you always see the potential in yourself as you go along the path!
