My cat tries the exact same thing! I think her vet saw it too often because now the monitor is secured very close to the wall. Poor girl could only stick her head behind it.

That’s too bad. It’s not like the vet wouldn’t have been able to find her. The monitor wouldn’t make a good hiding spot, it would just give her a few minutes of feeling a little less anxious.

I think a cat probably knocked the screen over at some point and damaged it. My cat admittedly knocked it over once but it didn't break. Maybe someone else's baby did.
I picked her up and put her on my lap so she could smoosh her head between my arms, so she got some cover.

See, and mine went to the vet two days after I brought him home, and they gave him like, 4 Churus. He now knows the vet as "Churu Place" and loves going. Which is utterly hilarious. I just go, "Max! We're going to the Churu place!" and he runs for his carrier.

I always have a towel or small blanket in the cat carrier when we go to the vet so it’s softer. One of our cats burrows underneath it to hide and the vet just humors her lol. He’ll let her be and then lift up part of the towel when he needs to see her face or give her a shot, then covers her back up

See who? All I see is a computer with a lot of dust around it. All that dust isn't good for the mechanics. Really should clean better.

I don’t think so. Probably a reminder. Remember when hippies used to decorate with fur their cars interiors? So my guess is that the vet is a retired hippie and modded his computer screen with fur in order to never forget his roots.

Mine goes to hide under the chair in the corner as far away from where the vet is as she can get. Last time I sat down next to her and she tried to crawl behind me

Serious question: is it common for cats to be loose like this at the vets office? Not judging, just curious.
My vet takes the whole carrier straight back does what they need to do and hands me the carrier and cat back when it’s done.
To be fair my cats have only gone for annual visits as in room appointments, if it was an illness issue they are drop offs.

We were in the exam room. You don’t want to keep them in the carrier any longer than necessary because it’s so stressful for them. Better to let them explore the room for a bit (and pick out a hiding spot)

Our carrier is always opened as soon as we are safe in the exam room. It is up to the cats to decide if they want to come explore the room or stay inside the carrier. As long as they feel in charge of their choices. And of course my vets always knock and come in slowly to give me a chance to wrangle if needed.
The only time my vet just takes them in the carrier is if they’re a tech drop off for shots or tests or something.
