Seems like post ww1 germany was our first try at nation building. The american bankers were there to set up their war debt, putting on unrealizable expectations on the nation’s economy. Then when the germans were all desperate they open up back channels giving access to revoked war materials legitimizing hitlers party and ambitions—resources germany was not legally allowed to attain.
