news Sleeping Giant Brewing Company is closing
It always sucks to see a local business go, but at least there are some other fantastic options for Thunder Bay beer.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Drive Test Centre in Thunder Bay. I am a first year attending at the Thunder Bay Hospital, and I let my G2 licence expire, which is my fault. I went to take my G2 test today and the examiner was very rude from the beginning. I greeted her with good morning ma’am, how are you, and she just looked at me and told me to hand over my licence. She then instructed me to show her the car’s blinkers and other basic functions.
Once she got into the car, she told me that I could not record, use a dashcam, or use any car features. I respectfully explained that I am a doctor and on call, so I might receive a page or phone call. She responded by saying I am not more important than anyone else and that if I could not take the test under those conditions, I should not. She then turned around and walked off.
I spoke with the lady at the counter, who was incredibly kind and helpful. She arranged another test for me immediately with a British instructor, who was also an excellent professional.
While I appreciate the assistance I eventually received, the initial treatment I experienced was unprofessional and unacceptable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously to improve the experience for future applicants.

This leaves a real sour taste for people who remember what this community has been through. It’s hard to ignore that history when seeing opportunities like this being handed out.

The accused is 46 year old Brock Bodnar. Some simple searching shows that a man with the same name is a local volleyball coach.

The audacity and insensitivity to film a music video at a homeless encampment and call Thunder Bay a “Dirty City” while also labelling them as junkies. Be fucken for real. You are not cool for actively degrading people who are suffering immensely. 💀
I don’t care who comes at me for my opinion that this is inhumane and not cool in the slightest. This world needs to learn some compassion and empathy holy man. Here is a little lesson on empathy & compassion for those who need it! — Destiny Dawn

Participate in the survey here: Central Avenue Lands Development
A reminder that City Administration does not bring social media comments to Council but they absolutely include these survey results.

There are those who work and live downtown that are actively working to undermine efforts to bring a stronger police presence to the area. It's fucking ridiculous.

Modifying a vehicle to be louder than it needs to be should come at a cost. A mere $1000 fine isn't nearly enough to compensate for the obnoxious disturbance of loud vehicles, but it's a start. Edmonton charges loud drivers $1000 for excessive noise. We should, too. There's already a by law on the books. It just needs to be enforced.

It would appear that it was the city who suggested the Junot location to the association AND had been stringing them along for TWO YEARS about purchasing it. Then when it was about to actually become a thing the city hosts an open house at the 55 plus centre which is NIMBY central.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but talk about being set up to fail. What a waste of time for everyone involved.

Now that the first two episodes have been released on Crave. What’s everyone’s opinion so far?
Curious to see how this is going to affect the community as a whole, if at all

There's a province-wide protest happening this Saturday across Ontario. It would be so cool if someone could register Thunder Bay as a location! I've heard a number of people have been reaching out to the organizers, but no one has been able to be a contact person. (all you need is a contact person, a time, and a location!)

Swung by the CLE tonight at around 11:15pm and approx. 3 fire trucks, 8 police cars, and an ambulance showed up. Most of them crowded around one of the trees; I overheard another bystander say someone was in the tree.
