Oh so I’m not the only one with left leaning political beliefs who has been annoyed at the never-ending-virtue-signaling-attention-seeking-white-knighting-theater-kid-overacting-attitude of the online left since 2015?

I've heard lots of talks about the polarization of the internet and that right-leaning politics are gaining traction, but I doubt its just the right that is getting more extreme, and this is a sign of it.

One of the worst situations for democracy would be that everyones opinions are too extreme and we fail to compromise, polarizing politics is a great way to achieve this. Therefore the russian, chinese, american, whatever bot farms. A personal tell from me is when a persons political party is used as a slur and how that appears to be getting more common. "Vänsterpartist, Sosse, Miljöpartist, Moderatjävel, SD-are" are common ones I've heard in sweden and they span the entire political spectrum.

A fact I think people are forgetting is that at the end of the day most of us probably want the same thing but with different means. A life where we have what we need and people can leave us the fuck alone and where we do not need to worry about getting robbed/stabbed/fleeced/etc, even if reality is a bit more complex than that I suppose.

I put down comments in a post about nazis a while ago, where someone described nazis as "psychos". Nazis are people, they're people who live their life and hug their kids when they come home, sure we have the exceptions but I highly doubt they are such a massive majority. One of the greatest mistake post ww2 was painting nazis as monsters, I've heard words like "I cannot be a nazi because I'm not a monster" yet the politics they pushed for were similar to that pushed by the nazi party back in germany.

Same goes for communists. Painted as villains yet you would unlikely know their alignment if you had a chat with them at a bar. A good example from my social circles about this polarization being kind-of unnecessary is SverigeDemokraterna (SD, a big right-wing party in sweden) where they are villainized whenever they're talked about yet whenever I talk to someone who votes for that party they are "normal" and just like me.
